Its not necessarily Amazon. Some manufacturers certify retailers in a particular region if they agree not to sell below a particular price. I know for a fact that Canon does this. This is a fairly common practice among high-end electronics makers. Its all based on market research in order to extract more money out of you. You have to know about customs. To do business, they businesses have to pay an import tax which is usually the cost of the product. I know what you mean, because it is the same in Mexico. It isn't racism, its business your country does with the rest of the world. The main reason is to give that country a fighting chance against foreign countries.
