  • DISCONNECT THE SCOPE PROBE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.....Are you coupled in through the probe?? That is what I finally found here!,,,

  • This DOES NOT WORK here in Baltimore, MD,,, you still need 2 wires,,,,ANY INSIGHT,,,Tried colis, screen , outside antenna 80' in the air,,,,just wll not light

  • What I think you have is effectively a capacitor. Your function generator and scope are grounded (forming one plate with earth)...your LED leads are connected to the other plate (even when wire is in air...the radio schack board effectively acts as the other capacitor plate.

When connected to coil you can tune tor resonance...when not you can reduce capacitive reactance by adjusting frequency

  • The faraday cage is pulsed by the Schumann Resonance as well, thus the energy flows through. This is because the ground and the ionosphere both oscillate at this frequency. The Ionosphere is postive the ground is negative, Dr. Stifflers device is finding zero in between the two and allowing current to flow through. You can use a resonant coil in place of your function generator and get similar results.

  • well, that is the challenge to find where it comes from. Some will say it is from "Stray Capacitance" other will claim it is only Resonance. I say: it is from the vacuum.

  • I think it is too early for an coclusion, but I hope you are right.

    I'd say Faraday Cage.

But that will only eliminate resonance from RF/EM waves.

How do we eliminate stray capacitance to ground?

And if stray capacitance is eliminated, will the 'excess energy' effect also be eliminated? If so: effect is due to straycap., OR elimination method does not fit, maybe an alternative straycap eliminator wond eliminate excess energy effect.

Maybe a CAP between the supplyground and socket ground?

  • Thank you cippled82 for the article, good stuff. How to remove "Stray Capacitance"? you see, that is the answer everyone gives me as an explanation but is it really? Inside cage faraday worked the same. But more fundamental question: if it is stray capacitance what is connected to the other side of that cap? and where that energy comes from?

  • before investigating that question, "stray capacitance" should be ruled out, without closing the loop.

I don't know how to do that, I'll take a look at the schematics at Stifflers page.

  • If the effect remains when tested well inside a faraday cage, then the effect is no resonance with external source (right?).

It could resonate with the ground (?)

It could be crosstalk through the cage. The electrons can come in on the open - (led side) through air from cage (?)

Some suggestions, I could be wrong

  • @plengo Hi! I'm an electronic engineer, and I can tell you this is a stray capacitance effect. At 7MHz, the impedance is 1/(2*pi*7MHz*c). So, with a 'c' of just 10pF (and I'm being conservative) we have 1/(2*pi*7MHz*10pF)=2274ohm. So, (5Vp-1.2Vf)/2274ohm=1.7mA, enough to turn on the LEDs.

So, just try it again with all LED's polarized in same direction: if it is due to a pure capacitive effect, they shouldn't turn on.

  • If ground is not connected, then where are the electrons coming from?
