I just got back from vacation to find that a Community Council has been appointed. After reading through all the comments, it seems some people are offended that there wasn't a community vote. From my experience in YouTube voting, every time a vote occurs, it turns into a popularity contest.

I say give this thing a chance. It's a step in the right direction, having YouTube care about us "non-partners", and not giving all the attention to the big names. Good job, YouTube!

I like the idea. There are some YouTubers that are going to just be negative regardless until you literally hand YouTube over to them to run however they feel. When I go to gatherings, I see YouTube present. They don't have to do squat for us. YouTube is a multimillion dollar business that is owned by a billion dollar entity. I'm quite humbled that they have made strides to support a small fraction of YouTube viewers that make up the community.
