I've seen an iPad in person...it struck me as being an overpriced screen that looks a bit like a laptop, without the handy keyboard. Plus, far too large to easily put in a pocket/handbag/etc. My friend has a Nook tablet and she let me play with it - I feel that it is well-made (doesn't feel cheap or flimsy) is nice-looking, I love that you can put a microSD card in it (it takes HC cards!) and the fact you can hang decorations from it. :P
@TheSlipKnot981 Troll. Of course I know what those are. Apple is not the be-all and end-all. I like their iPods for music listening purposes, they are long-lasting, work well etc. At any rate, I'm now looking into Blackberry Playbook as the limited and overpriced Nook apps concern me greatly.
I don't like to really compare two really different tablets. The only thing that I liked about the Nook Tablet was the fast browsing speed. Well at least that what I think!
Nice comparison. Disagree that more text is a better reading experience though. For me just having one book sized page is easier to put down and pick back up and remember where you were reading. In a magazine layout is where I could see the iPad standing out with its larger real estate. For me though the size is still to big on the iPad. I can root and have any reader app I want on the nook as well, so that's what I purchased.
I bought the Nook Color for my wife on Mother's day with the ulterior motive to buy the iPad2 for myself at Christmas. We have 3 young kids and constantly on the go. The Nook Color is very portable and popular with the kids. Yikes...I just counted and have 72 B&N apps loaded on it (games, productivity, file management, entertanment apps, news, weather, kids reading apps). The versatility of this device has been so surprising to us that we have decided to purchase a Nook Tablet for Christmas!
@MsTaliDali It depends what you want out of a device. I like the Nook Tablet because it is ultra-portable and runs Android, so you have more freedom to download apps from the internet and load them in. You can also side load in your own content like graphic novels, comics. The ipad does not really let you load in apps from the internet and its hard to load in anything but music, books, pictures. etc.
You need to update your specs for the IPad and you are not locked into monthly charges. You guys really don't know what you are talking about there is a Nook app for the IPad.
@bearboyn It is $30ish on Amazon for a 32gig HC microSD card. I am sure lower capacity cards are much cheaper. I paid more for the 16Gig HC MicroSD card for my NikonD40 several years ago - WAY more!
>.<
Fucking IPad is a $200 rip-off.
I'm getting a nook.

You guys are incorrect. You said the iPad 2 has 256MB RAM, but that's the iPad 1. The iPad 2 has 512MB RAM.

Plus B&N only gives you 1GB for contents(not all 16GB) that are not bought for them , So you have to pay 30-50$ for microSD.
