the voice was excellent. i would have to be able to see you act it to be able to judge the whole thing. a couple points; fie means f*** in shakespeare, so make that more like a curse. also, i would make it less controlled as the monologue progresses, as most of hamlet's soliloquies become more manic as his thoughts become more frantic. i could go into a long interpretation of hamlet's character as a director, but as an actor, you have to make it your own. try to think about why hamlet is hamlet.
Much of my initial reaction has already been stated in some way, shape or form. Props, however, for playing up the pain. I find that a lot of amateur Hamlets tend to deliver all like a deadpan philosophy lecture.
Your voice is great. I`ve always read Hamlet as little less whiny. He complains, but as much against himself as anything else, and always on the side of virtue everywhere. One will find that this type doesn`t whine so much as contemplate and grieve.
not bad, i have to do a monologue for me drama thing which is why i found this video, did u research any movies or some other people that have done this? because for me in some parts you read it to fast and it just didnt sound right but hey! thats me
This is much closer to how I normally speak, yes. It's just a simple Windows Movie Maker video. If you have a microphone (mine's not that good, but I make do) you can record your voice with it. Takes a little experimentation at first, but I've found it works well.
good job, but you would make more a distinction between the different sections of the monologue. first he talks about one thing and then he talks about another.
cut it up into sections. and also i think he's more upset but is father's death than you are making it seem now..
Thanks! I'll take those criticisms on board. This ain't great verse-speaking by any means - just something spontaneous I did. It was Hamlet's painful indecisiveness that informed this version... I felt this might make him emotionally stilted. I tried a more emotional version, but it sounded too hammy, so I went with this. I'll do some Richard III next time.
I just finished the first act of Hamlet in English class and I like it so far. the one thing i hate is that my teacher assigns some of the students to read certain roles and they do a lousy job because they don't understand what they are saying. they speak so monotonously and turn a great play into another boring school assignment.
You, on the other hand, really know what you're doing. bravo!
What happens to you? Do you have some cramps in the belly? Go to the bathroom.

Great acting! Shakespeare is a tough style to master, but you do it well.
