  • My mom had a white dress like this back in 1980. She looked damn hot with her long thick (natural hair). Back when women looked like females and acted like it too.

  • teddy sings like james ingram!i love that

  • Was Teddy paralysed then? he never stood up in this video?

  • @kdemonde This song was made I believe in 1980 before the accident

  • @juceecherry Yes i looked into it...The song was made in 1981 and the following year Teddy had the accident...unfortunately. Great song. i remember enjoying listening to it on the radio back in the days. R.I.P Teddy P

  • @juceecherry Thankyou!

  • @kdemonde No this was prior to that accident....

  • @blkdiamnnj Yes i looked it up, the song was made in 81 and Teddy had the accident in 82 Thankyou

  • W.H.U.R.-Howard University"s Melvin Lindsey made a habit of playin only the 12" version of this song where Teddy and Stephanie really stretch it out!!!

  • wow a duet in which both people can actually sing. R&b has really really fallen off the last 15 yrs . Nobody can sing - if they are not 16 they are portraying a 16 yr old image. lawd help us

  • I miss this era of r&b when the big stars were women and men not little girls and little boys.

  • Hmm, back in the days when music videos showed beautiful dark skinned women and men loving and respecting each other....

  • Interesting that he is sitting right through the entire video and this is before the accident...wow, talk about foreshadowing....

  • @dgfilmdoc My mom said she saw an interview with the both of them and said Teddy was so much taller than Stephanie. To shot a scene with the both in a shoot would had to shoot to far back to fit the both in the frame.

  • @dgfilmdoc I know! Anyway, he was probably sitting the whole time so he wouldn't tower over her. She's tiny!

  • @dgfilmdoc ain't dat da honest 2 god truth. Bcuz da exact yr after dis video wuz recorded, da accident dat changed his life 4ever happened!!

  • beautiful classic r & b this is real right i can do this to death! they don't make music like this no more!

  • This is proof that even if you can't go home, you can still visit it from time to time A timeless old school classic video..

  • Good day

This is a super up beat song eh.. :-)

    R.I.P Teddy Pendergrass

  • You are missed T.P

  • ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG!!! I thought I was going to MARRY Teddy Pendergrass when I was a LITTLE GIRL....I was a 70's baby and enjoyed listening to his RECORDS/ALBUMS & looking at the ALBUM COVERS growing up.Thanx for SHARING.

  • I love this song and its has a true meaning.Pure Old School Classics are the best.

  • MTV back in the day..... Seattle....

  • The jam!!! Thanx for posting :)

  • Very underrated song right here...one of the few duets Teddy actually did.

  • wow SM has such a beautiful voice, she should have been singing gospel with that voice

  • PURE OLD SCHOOL!

  • There are not very many singers today that can stand in Stephanie's light, or her shadow for that matter... Been listening to her since 'The Wiz'... and I tell my daughter that if she wants to sing, she needs to watch how Stephanie shows you how it's done.. No gimmicks, no computer adjusted voice, no auto tune crap, just vocal talent in full effect!!!

  • This was and still is my jam,. Teddy P had the best soulful voice ive ever heard. Music back then was real and people really sung believe it or not. Great black music. I still blast this in my car when im driving.

  • LOVE THIS!!!!! R.I.P. TEDDY BEAR....+++++++

  • Teddy is the man!!!

  • this was my jam!!!!!

  • It's funny how Teddy stays seated through the whole video because Stephanie is so short.

  • @barriobajaj Teddy was paralyzed after a car crash.

  • @barriobajaj So true...lol

I wish those two would have did more duets together

  • @tom11zz884 I agree!

  • This so classy.I miss the old school.I thank God I was exposed to the old school, because they song about love and happiness.Couples were so close than back then than they are in todays society.I love the groove, lyrics, and connection they with the music.

  • Stephanie and Teddy hit #40 in Billboard, 7-4-81. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Teddy Bear!

  • my favorite singing duet along with rene and angela...RIP Teddy P.

  • Teddy P we will neva 4get u and long may urs and Stephs music bring out the true emotions of great soul

  • This is my jam, I am 16 and know what real music is, and this is it right here, with the beautiful Stephanie Miles, and the sexy ladies man TP. I think I am in love.lol

  • Stephanie Mills sings like no other. This video really takes you back to happier times in music. R.I.P., Teddy P.

  • 2 unloved souls came to this web address...

  • THIS is a classic. two legends, back when GROWN FOLKS were making hits, you hear me, young bucks?

  • @PugSleasy Who's crack pipe did these two people borrowed? LOL!!!

  • @KingMellow11 man, how you gonna dis Teddy and Stephanie? You MUST be under 30 for saying something like that. That ain't cool at all. these are two LEGENDS.

  • @bernieb07 I wasn't dissin them at all. I love them. I impersonate Teddy on my shows.

  • I always wanna cry whenever i see or hear them perform together because they should have made a duet album which of course would be a classic by now! R.I.P. Teddy Bear!

  • nice to hear the song again.

  • 2 people have only 1 heart

  • Makes sense...BigBlackRod...OUT

  • This was before Teddy's accident...why isn't he up and moving around?

  • @tonygrooove Teddy was 6'4", Stephanie 4'11. It would have been too much of a height discrepancy...PEACE.

  • @BigBlackRod Didn't know teddy was that tall

  • @tom11zz884He wan't Steph is that short. All the finess and talent packed in a little body.

  • I love music from back then...Good Times and Good memories....I call this "cookout music"...like when everybody is fixin there plates.....*laugh!!!

  • Videos in the 80s looked extremely corny. I'm so glad Michael came along and changed that. Also where did a video like this air in 1981 if mtv wouldn't play them? I'd guess BET but i dont think it was that popular yet.

  • @fresh77896 Id take these corney videos over the crap thats on the tv today any day of the week.Even though Mike changed the game, nobody followed up with the creativity they managed to portray back then. Seriously...whos left to compete???

  • @cwayz08 I agree the videos of today are so lame. You can't even watch it with your family anymore. Videos are just not as pure and enjoyable as they used to be the female artists can't seem to find their clothes and there's always some naked video hoe in the males videos. Its such a shame. After the mid 90s they just became a complete waste.

  • @fresh77896 Mainstream videos seem like a waste they don't focus to much on the story of the videos only the glitz

  • @fresh77896 Record labels didn't give black artist money in the early 80's! Micheal paid for Thriller and Bille Jean out his own pocket! Not until the 90's did all songs have a video for all artist! So to see this video today is like wow! Also this video was on BET my uncle said Bet came out in 1980 cuz MTV didn't like black artist, so we came along way we struggled!!!!!! Black History Fact!

  • @TheHustlehustle09 First song played on Video Soul...Atomic Dog...George Clinton!!!

  • @sugawallz Thanks for the info I'm only 29, so I wouldn't know LOL! But i do know it was hard for artists at this time to do videos!!

  • @TheHustlehustle09 ...in 1983 when MJ's Thriller came out (Best selling album/cd of all time) gay-ass RACIST MTV didn't want to play the video's at 1st

    thriller

    beat it

    billie jean

became the BIGGEST video's of the time....

so in the end MJ, made MTV want it was...

    must watch T.V.

  • @SoulmanfoLife ikr!

  • @TheHustlehustle09 yeah, after "The Crossover" happened

  • @TheHustlehustle09 You speak the truth Hustle, we black and we always had to hustle. Then of course they take it from us and black artists can no longer get a deal making the music we invented, so we leave it for them and invent something else then they take that too. These videos were cheaply made cos there was no budget for them..One day we'll all be free cos we really ain't yet...

  • When this song came out, I would listen to it as many times a day as possible. I bought on a 45. Anybody remember those? This is my absolute favorite duet by these two! I thought I would never find this song anywhere. Thanks a million for uploading it here! Great memories of my high school years!

  • @kenpalmer1965

I have the whole album, it took me years but I own it

  • @MrTaz081 Is this album on a CD?

  • @kenpalmer1965

Not on CD, I actually have the whole vinyl, I remember those 45's I still alot of them, most of them are my mothers, but I have some also.

  • those were the days when we did'nt have all this crazy shit we have now. nice post

  • @ deedeesnicks I saw pop up video on VH1 and they stated he sat cuz she was real short :) & it was before his accident as AfreeQueen stated.

  • I LOVED this song. One of the first 45's I ever bought! Thank-you SO much for posting the video.

  • Now you know this is a nice Wedding Song.....

  • I love the meaning of this song, I love true love. Two hearts are always better....TOGETHER!

  • he's not paralized....yet....so why was he sitting....hmmmmm....

  • @deedeesnicks this was BEFORE the accident.

  • @AfreeQueen i thought i was before.....lol

  • Naw he sat in that chair the whole time because he already had that car wreck that left him paralized.....

  • Teddy sat in the whole video because Stephanie's so short I think she about 4 ft something! But I love the song and video

R.I.P Teddy and Stephanie come back & gives us real R&B again!

  • i love steph.. very sweet and sexy wow... the eye rolls so hot...

  • THE WHITE CLOTHES, FURNITURE, CAKE ...THE VIDEO DIRECTOR KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING ITS WORKING!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG , I"M 16 , todays music sucks ,

  • Ein Knaller !

  • R.I.P TEDDY!!

  • @musiclover77able I used to think I was the only person like that. When I was in my teens and early 20s my friends and coworkers always marvelled at how many old songs I knew. Def. the best time to be born was in the mid to late 70s when we had so many great singers/ entertainers from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. And I'm from the Caribbean too so I was exposed to Caribbean music, Gospel, Latin and African music as well. I plan to raise my kids on all my influences....RIP Teddy!!!

  • I have always loved this song and video since I first saw it on TV all those years ago. And I'm a HUGE fan of Stephanie Mills!

  • I remember this song. I wish Teddy and Stephanie sung more songs together. Their chemistry is fantastic.

Takes me back to June/July of 198....weeks before my 14th birthday. Today I'm approaching 43 (August 9).

  • @Krazy3912 because they were really friends out of the studio and off the road!

  • LEGENDS #REALSINGING

  • @musiclover77able Im the same way, born in '77

  • ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAV DUETS THEY SOUND WONDERFUL....TEDDY SIGNATURE STRONG VOICE AND STEPHS SULTRY SEXY VOICE WOW!!

  • OMG i miss those days even tho i was a youngun.Music was so darn good,im ashamed of where the industry has gone,A friend & i were talking about it yesterday how artists cant make money anymore because peeps download music now instead of buying it.Just sad,i truly believe we're close to the end of this system of the old world.

  • She is gourgeous... so hot.. she a beautiful lady from 80's... so many hot women...

  • lmao this vid is cornyyy haha

  • @JordinSparksFan08 Wasn't about the video back then it was actual talent and true artistry back then. That's why this song is on Youtube some near 30 years after its initial release. Try saying that about "Roger That" or "Oh let do it" Waka FLaka FLame in 30 yrs.

  • @rufus317 @rufus317 Umm, Ok well If you knew me you'd know I was pretty "old school" when it comes to TV shows and Music. All I watch are shows from the 70's like good times, Different strokes etc. and I Like Motown/70's music. I don't know why youre coming at me like I just insulted the song or something!! All I said is the video was corny, and It is, it doesnt take away from the song. (and I dont even like that song roger that) :)

  • @rufus317 I LOVEEEE the song can you feel it by the Jacksons like you dont even know! But i think the video is horrible! LOL. But yes I understand what your saying and I do agree, I wish we could go back to days where Music was about more than sex and money.

  • @rufus317 It looks alot different in text with how I came across. The way you think I came across is not . I just said back then it was about the music. Sorry if I came off wrong.

  • great song this is music

  • i adore this joint,, perfect R&B to the fullest, they just dont do it like that no more...

  • where is the time gone when this wash good music

  • WOW I didn't know there was a video to this song!!!!

  • teddy is sitting down because stephanie mills, is on like 4'11 while teddy i think was over 6feet so for the video he choose to sit so he wouldn't look like a giant over stephanie

  • Oh right, I thought it was because of the devastating car accident he had that paralysed him...but then i remembered it happened in 1982 and this vid is from '81...

    RIP teddy..

  • Love you TP. We miss you

  • Great great song, nice video but very strange in the sense that it looks like Teddy is already paralyzed with all of these shots of him sitting down - and yet I think this was prior to the accident. Weird.

  • Love this song...btw Stephanie Mills is fine

  • Now any time Teddy P and Stephanie Mills do a duet song it is great.

  • this my song.

    RIP Teddy P.

  • The boundless creativity, the rich soulfulness, the mindboggling parade of great tracks, the good vibes among black people - all gone with the wind.

  • @hork111 couldnt have said it n e better

  • Hey The1baddman-I Live Here In Raleigh,NC-It's About The Same Here As Well With The Radio Stations-Playing The Same Songs Over And Over Again!!

  • JAM!!!!! Luv stephanie and Teddy

  • These two really don't get the credit they so deserved as duet partners they were fantastic!!

  • I guess this was a omen to what was going to happen.

  • I love this song. They look nice in their white.

Stephanie looks beautiful. I remember when that hairstyle was out that she's wearing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is there any reason Teddy P is sitting the duration of this video? The video is from 1981, so it's before the accident.

  • I was wondering also!!!!

  • The reason they did it like that is because Stephanie is soooooo short and Teddy was a fairly tall man; the difference in their height was hard to work out for the video so they had him sitting in the scenes! :)

  • @Msredhoney720 That makes sense.

  • one of the best duet parners. I don't know why they didn't do an album together. I didn't know there was a video to this song. Stephanie and Teddy look great together on this song I love this video.

  • @karameldreem I agree, why these two didn't do more duets together we will never know.

  • Love it; good music. Teddy will be greatly missed; Stephanie needs come back to the game.

  • oooh this song use to bump

  • Damn I always wanted them to do a album together...it would had been so cold..

  • Great duet! RIP Teddy Bear...

  • Great song!! RIP Teddy Pendergrass!! You will be joining Michael Jackson in heaven!!

  • Saw that video on BET back in 81. Loved it. Teddy would be sorely missed.

  • Classic.....PERIOD!!! R.I.P. TeddyP... :-(

  • Great Song! RIP TEDDY PENDERGRASS...BEAUTIFUL SOUL :)

  • That's when R&B music was at it's best!! Teddy and Stephanie had such a great chemistry..Not all singers have that Chemistry to sing together. Rick James and Teena Marie also had that great chemistry.

  • @ladydee20784....Dont forget Roberta Flack & Donnie Hathaway...now they rocked it too. And Diana Ross & Marvin Gaye. Now thats when music was music, and only the truly talented people had record deals. RIP Teddy & MJ...Music is not the same without you guys. Stevie Wonder & Prince is all we have left ya'll....I miss the 70's & 80's...whew...

  • you are right!!!!

  • I know...if they wouldve done an album together like Diana & Marvin, or Roberta & Donnie, that woulda been outta this world! Damn, RIP Teddy

  • R.I.P. Teddy.

  • RIP Teddy

  • This is the jam!!

  • This song was so sick!!!! R.I.P. Teddy!

  • rip teddy pendergrass...

  • RIP Teddy P.

  • oh you posted this video! thank you! this song and the duet are magic :)

  • Dang, they have a couple of old school radio station down here in Atlanta and you don't hear this song or several others at all just mostly the same old thing.

  • @The1baddman My experience is few of these stations really dig deep. We had old school once in Seattle. Man, talk about pathetic! Lame! I suppose it was an attempt to lasso white listeners, but every tune was the fm radio staple. If they cued Commodores, you can bet it was Brick House. Earth Wind and Fire, it was Boogie Wonderland. Gladys Knight, Midnight Train to Georgia. You get it. Nuttin' wrong with those, but please, know the discography and dig deep! Might be too much to ask these days.

  • Teddy and Stephanie had such great chemistry. Her personality really sparkles in all of her performances! And if her hairstyle wasn't the fliest thing ever. I still rock that when I'm in the mood for a 80s throwback.

  • awesome track someone need to remake this song for sure

  • love it

  • nice song

  • When is there going to be another duet that sings with this much heart and soul?

  • i was just thinking the same thing the other day

  • @nothinghumanlovesfor Perhaps it's because I'm older, but I just don't feel the same way when I hear R&B these days, you know? It doesn't touch my heart the same way. Remember when the old-heads used to say, "music isn't what it used to be". Now, I know what they mean. I'm only in my 30's, what will it be like when I'm in my 50's? Lol!

  • exactly i know how u feel. i'm almost 33 and when i was 6 i was listening to music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s i always could apprecite good music or what ever, but music to day suck also cos people are so damn cocky, back then they were humble , i think music to day all sound the same lol

  • @nothinghumanlovesfor You're absolutely right about artists being cocky. However, the record companies are partly to blame. Before it was about sharing your own sound with the world, now it's about how many albums you can sell. Most songs do sound the same on the radio and that's because execs hear a tune that sells and mimic it in one form or another. Hopefully we'll see a rebirth of the old.

  • @mogreld u are so right, i agree. i like how u think.

  • @nothinghumanlovesfor Thank you for the compliment. My thoughts come from seeing friends try to make it in the music industry, very tough. But anything worth having is worth the struggle.

  • any time, i k now how u feel, i'm a song writer my self and every time i try to make it in the industry, men just wanted to sleep with me which i never gave IN. i will always write songs even if my dream never come true and i wont ever sleep my way to get some where which still no grantee lol cos my songs are that good enough. hopefully one day it will happen for me

  • @nothinghumanlovesfor Men stink sometimes, but it happens. Don't let that deter you. Never give up on your dreams, as long as you're alive, it's never too late. These two kept at it for a long time and look where they ended up, two of the best in the business. I expect to hear good things from you in the future. God bless you and good luck.

  • @mogreld they sang from their soul bac then. now, its fame or money.

  • @mogreld never.cherish it. i listen to my own collection.

  • @mogreld Never

  • @mogreld not in 2010

  • Great song by 2 great people TP & Stephanie!!!

    Mr. Chip's

  • i used to sing this song all the 2ime when i was little! its still tha joint!

  • Comment removed

  • have not seen this since america's top 10 back in 1981. thanks.

  • I always thought she was so cute. Go girl.

  • man i so wish i was born back in these days to experience these kinda music videos...i just have the luxory of going through all these classic albums and songs that we have at home thanks to my mom and dad

  • I had the honor of orchestrating this song...I knew it was special from the first time I heard it in the raw!! DUNN PEARSON - Arranger...Two Superstars!!

  • Hats off to you blackbeethoven30! What an honor it must be to be involved with this cut! You are part of history bro. History of great music, that is.
