...but the inevitable happens as the dancing couple's legs fall off and they are crumpled up, and the child's hand reaches out again to capture or even crush the butterfly, and feel this may be a symbol of the neverending cycle of man's ability to take the world and shape it to humanity's needs.

Then again, that's just my interpretation! Maybe it's just about weird people bleeding horribly. :U

...they continually "repair" the earth, though it's difficult (the boy who colors the bird with rainbows and loses his teeth, showing the hard/physical work he's done) The bird spews flowers to help "fix" the earth, as well, showing that man and nature have come together to fix what previous generations have destroyed. Then the kid's hand releases butterflies to the world and the video then shows happy people waving and dancing...

...and are then destroyed either by their own hand or through others (the tearing apart, the ripping, etc.) Pain and suffering is depicted through this part as well, showing that nobody is really happy... further destruction of earth occurs with the squirrel and cat. But then the generation of TOMORROOOW is born with a kinder and gentler heart (the singing of the meh-mehs) and show it by repairing the cat's ripped neck and then "fixing" mother earth (the weird spewing and intake of leaves)...

Hum. I was disappointed to find no interpretations of the video. So I thought I'd try, myself, though I dunno how good it'll be. SO. I think it's a bit obvious that the majority of the song, in the beginning is about the destruction of man through man's own means... in the very beginning that there are trees with some insects, but the trees are torn and the bugs fly away. This is man's destruction of earth. Then, the children drawn and gradually destroyed symbolize those who are born, grow up...
