It was broadcast just ONCE, in October of 1977, and the Presley family has never released it on video because of Elvis's bad appearance. I have a beta copy that i taped from the original broadcast, and also bought a dvd copy of it on ebay a few years back. Nothing new, nothing we haven't seen. Nice try.
I think the Concert Stage is the only place he felt in control in his last years. He was probably the loneliest person on the planet. The music lives on. He really had a special talent, even in his last year.
I still think he sounds really amazing, my mom even thinks that he's handsomer in the 70's than in the 50's hahah. I was at his last concert in Indianopollis.His weight was up like in this video but I didn't see his death approaching.He was wonderful.I had 2nd row seats right in front of him.The seats were folding type welded together and the crowd surged forward as if they new.A few of us got hurt being pushed up against the stage when he was finished.God knows I love him...

I saw Elvis in concert when I was 17, nine months before he died. Elvis looked GREAT and put on a phenomenal show. I feel very blessed to have been in the same room as Elvis .... The Rapid City footage is the best show they filmed. It is about time an official release came out. It is the only professional tape of him that is still awaiting a release. In 1973, during the Aloha Special, Elvis does goof some lyrics. If you look closely, you can see the words being held up by one of the crew. In fact they held all his lyrics throughout. In the 1973 footage Elvis himself says "I forgot all the words".

You know it's funny that this is selling on Ebay but yet the interview with this guy looks like it was filmed in 1979. There was no Ebay back then. This news coverage of this guy talking about the video is very old. And as for the footage itself, the only difference I see is Elvis walking off and on stage. The interview with the little indian girl backstage is available other places as is the presentation of the plaque Elvis received. I don't think this is "one of a kind" by any means.
a) this is the master copy from which the material you already know has been copied
b) well, it's an uncut master....how many masters can you actually call your own?
c) actually the original machinery with which the whole thing was processed belonged to the auction as well as transfer copies of the master tapes to vhs and dvd, so even if you just wanted to have this as a collector, you would still have had a way of watching the material without ever touching the master
Any film footage of Elvis is a treasure. Black and white, out of focus imperfect sound doesn´t matter. All that matters is that itś him that is on it. Itś unfortunate that the owner of this treasure has suffered ill health It is my hope that some wealthy individual purchases the film and makes it available for all who want to see it. I think giving it to EPE would be a mistake since they want to keep people from seeing Elvis´ later years.

I was at his last concert in Indianopollis.His weight was up like in this video but I didn't see his death approaching.He was wonderful.I had 2nd row seats right in front of him.The seats were folding type welded together and the crowd surged forward as if they new.A few of us got hurt being pushed up against the stage when he was finished.God knows I love him...

I saw Elvis in concert when I was 17, nine months before he died. Elvis looked GREAT and put on a phenomenal show. I feel very blessed to have been in the same room as Elvis .... I will never forget that night, and cherish the memories. His charisma will never be matched.... a great man with a great soul, beautiful voice, and kind heart. Love and miss you always Elvis.

Let's not forget is was prescribed drugs from doctors who should have known better. In 1977 drug treatment wasn't as understood as it is today. In my opinion Elvis still shone in the footage. The Rapid City footage is the best show they filmed. It is about time an official release came out. It is the only professional tape of him that is still awaiting a release. Problems aside, he had a fantastic singing voice, even when he was unwell.

In 1973, during the Aloha Special, Elvis does goof some lyrics. If you look closely, you can see the words being held up by one of the crew. In fact they held all his lyrics throughout. In the 1973 footage Elvis himself says "I forgot all the words".

I have a color bootleg of all the stuff shown here transfered to DVD.
So I'm guessing these are copies that he dubbed and therefore are black and white?
These were made into the CBS special.
There's is also the Rapid City show I think that was part of the special which I also have.
Just seems like a steep price since they aren't the CBS masters.
But I'm no expert.

You know it's funny that this is selling on Ebay but yet the interview with this guy looks like it was filmed in 1979. There was no Ebay back then. This news coverage of this guy talking about the video is very old. And as for the footage itself, the only difference I see is Elvis walking off and on stage. The interview with the little indian girl backstage is available other places as is the presentation of the plaque Elvis received. I don't think this is "one of a kind" by any means.

and, the footage does appear to be the same angles as the colour footage that widely available

A few things about this so called "One of a kind tape"
a) If this is the only copy, why are they apparently from the same cameras as all the color footage, yet shown here in B&W?
b) All this footage has been floating around for years now, complete. Howis it unique?
c) If it is on "Quad tape" reel to reel. who the heck can play it. The machines are very rare these days

a) this is the master copy from which the material you already know has been copied
b) well, it's an uncut master....how many masters can you actually call your own?
c) actually the original machinery with which the whole thing was processed belonged to the auction as well as transfer copies of the master tapes to vhs and dvd, so even if you just wanted to have this as a collector, you would still have had a way of watching the material without ever touching the master

Any film footage of Elvis is a treasure. Black and white, out of focus imperfect sound doesn´t matter. All that matters is that itś him that is on it. Itś unfortunate that the owner of this treasure has suffered ill health It is my hope that some wealthy individual purchases the film and makes it available for all who want to see it. I think giving it to EPE would be a mistake since they want to keep people from seeing Elvis´ later years.

I consider myself a real Elvis fan. The man had some problems towards the end of his life.He was human. I have never liked anyone who laughed or took advantage or him. I don't know anything about this man's one of a kind video.I just hope he didn't get a cent.Elvis was a kind, generous man with a unique talent.
