  • One of my favorite 'Til Tuesday songs of all time. And agree with many of the other posters - this album was SO underrated.

  • a real mystery to me why this didn't hit higher in the charts. i used to have this cassette single and glad i've found this song after so long.

  • Always loved this song, this whole album , it helped me get going after bad time. I love her still. love her voice, her energy and her guitar playing and her songwriting.

I guess she is my idol?

  • This reminds me of when I lived in Boston in 86/87 :) Great memories, and Til Tuesday and Aimee was in my ear all the time.

  • "optimistic feelings can't be passed from hand to hand / you handle them, they tend to die"

  • to deepend54 and rukeyser:

you're both right. The insert spells it "R.I.P."; but in the lyrics it's also used as the verb 'rip'. Aimee writes poetic lyrics, so it's meant to have both meanings :)

  • my friend look at the cd insert it says r.i.p in heaven explain that to me oh wise one??? huummmm rest in peace!!!!!!

  • it's not R.I.P.! it's a rip - a tear in the fabric of heaven - "we should have just ascended then."

i want to share this, but having the name of the song be so misleading & wrong is kinda whacky.

  • Every song on this CD is well written, well executed and well produced. Should have been a mega selling project. What a shame that more people aren't exposed to such a great collection of songs. Still sounds as moving and fresh as it did when it was released.

  • I think everything's different now is probably one of my favs also. love this tune and J for Jules & Telescope...great. very melodic...

  • These albums tanked because Aimee got screwed over by her record company. Epic wanted to promote the whole band but Aimee's creativity was moving her toward the female singer-songwriter niche. They felt that genre was dead-this just before Tracy Chapman hit it big-with the wisdom that made Capitol say of the Beatles, "Guitar bands are on the way out," Epic pulled promotion for the album. "Rip in Heaven" & "Why Must I" as well as "Coming Up Close" are usually at the top of my Aimee Mann list.

  • I think that this is also my fav 'Til Tuesday song - along with Crash & Burn. How the hell this album and Welcome Home weren't massive is a total mystery.

  • its a mystery to me too, this album is one of the best pop albums of the last 20 years

  • I agree. A very good song.

  • Thanks for posting this which is 1 of my favorites of theirs, and "Welcome Home", start to finish, is always essential listening. Thanks again!

  • had to post this favorite song of mine by Aimee....how do the rest of you rate it????
