I found out I was pregnant a month ago. Im only 20, in 2nd yr of a 4 year course at uni, away from home and have a bf that could go to prison in Dec. It would have been easy and arguably a smarter decision for me to get an abortion but i couldn't do it. I had friends say to me that i was going to ruin my life by keeping this baby, that i would be alone-but hearing all that just made me want to protect it. So it will be tough but I already love it and I will continue to protect it forever. x
You cannot justify abortion by saying that its better than them being born into a family that doesn't care for them. My sister was adopted when she as 2 and is loved just as much as I am, she is 12 years older then me, and my brother is 10 years older then me, they were both adopted and loved just the same as if they werent. Also I know people that were adopted older and loved the same, actually on TV today this girl was 14 and she says she finally found a happy home, but she did get one, its not all bad. That way they skip out on the diapers haha, or the terrible 2's w/e Its how they are raised by the fosters

I would never personally get an abortion but to not allow some people the choice by making it illegal is arrogant. You cannot expect a child to be happy and treated fairly when its mother is forced to have it. There is not always someone there to care for an unwanted child. That is a fairytale. There are so many children in foster homes, on the streets or starving.
I have never met a person who remembers being 1 let alone in their mothers womb. If you aren't mature enough for the consequences that may come from having sex. It's simple don't do it. So many women have sex and get pregnant, and they act shocked, like it's not their fault. You could also say, is animal life as valuable as human life? I believe that we should take care of nature and animals the best we can, but as far as society goes humans are more valuable. We need more children dumped into foster homes? More children growing up neglected, because being unwanted? More young adults ending in prison, as they never had a real family, teaching them social behaviour?

You are absolutely right, dehumanization has to take place first, before we can be comfortable with abortion. A Child can always be given up for adoption, but once life has been taken, the act of abortion can't be undone.

There are indeed enough resources. Millions of tons of potatoes are thrown to the sea each year to keep the prices stable, as with superavit prices would go down.
1/3 of the cattle killed each year goes to waste because that meat's not consumed.

3rd) Babies don't gain conciousness till 30 weeks...

How exactly do you know all of this...this is your theory, but you can't say it is a fact. How do you know that a baby can't feel pain? How do you know that God does not exist? It funny that you can post this and be so sure of yourself, but you can't be positive. I say God does exist...I say babies do feel pain at 6 weeks...I say they can gain consciousness before 30 weeks and they have memory, just like an infant does. Prove me wrong...give me some facts, give me some details.

Whoever you are talking to you should also tell them that actually it's been proven through ultrasound that babies do indeed feel pain-as their bodies are ripped apart during abortion they squirm and show expressions of pain on their face. And as for memory/brain activity-well we do know that active brain waves are detected at 6 to 8 weeks. And people that might try to tell you that it's just "a fetus"-should understand that word is Latin for BABY. =) (Feel free to copy and paste this to um.)

You could also say, is animal life as valuable as human life? I believe that we should take care of nature and animals the best we can, but as far as society goes humans are more valuable. Would you save an animal over a human? And when an animal is injured it won't listen to the doctor and not stop walking. It keeps going. Equipment to stop it is too expensive for most people to afford. There are no official cemeteries or retirement homes for animals either. To humans, humans are more valuable.

Re: abortion - I could not go through with an abortion but I understand why some do. The comment about 'killing innocent babies vs raping someone' is pathetic - imagine being raped at 13 years old, the trauma, then finding out you're pregnant, going to school, dealing with people's reactions, then explaining when asked "who's the father?" - you must be sick to think anyone should go through that without a choice. Fetus comes from the word 'offspring'in Latin.For a girl or woman that has been raped,I would see the need for the morning after pill under a doctors supervision,but only in the case of rape.
