Krupa was first to really put showmanship into drumming,and was a great drummer, but as far as sheer ability to play drums,Buddy Rich was downright superhuman.He did things that astound most drummers to this day.His playing was so amazing he didn't need to twirl or throw sticks.Just watching his awesome drumming was the show! As a drummer for more than 50 years, I'll take Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa over any of today's drummers. They were real all-purpose drummers who could play anything and if not for their creative genius, we wouldn't have the good and great drummers we have today,
he is a good rock drummer, but i don't undestand why we talk about him on every buddy rich video. buddy is a leggend, travis only a drummer famous for this rock band, he has lot of experience in recording but he is a rock drummer not a leggend like buddy or dave weckl ora colaiuta or steve gadd or simon philips. i like him when he plays in studio, maybe live it's not my favourite drummer, but he has a good technique with his hands. :)

I've seen Travis Barker PLENTY. I'm 34 years old, Blink was a part of my era (when it was winding down at the end of the '90s) and I've tried to give the guy a chance. But I am NOT IMPRESSED by his style or how he acts in general. I'm sorry but I have spent most of my life listening to John Bonham, Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, and the like. Nothing about Travis makes me jump out of my seat and go "Oh this guy is INCREDIBLE!" I've watched countless videos of him and it's the same thing EVERY TIME!

@shaenmocracka Great post, and I actually agree with you. Travis is a very good drummer. Not one of the great ones, but rock solid, flashy, and as much as it pains me to say this, probably the most influential drummer of the past 15 years or so.
The problem with Travis is not HIM, as much as his FANS. They come on Youtube, are the most close-minded and ignorant fans, and they say silly things about him being better than anyone and everyone. It turns people off and puts us on the offense.

Lmao Im 16 and i've been playing drums for about a year and a half and im already on Travis Barkers level at least from what i've seen him play. But i dont think there will ever be a day that me or anybody else ever plays like buddy rich.

The rumor is not true, MMAs Ray 3 hands Snow (ray3handssnowdotcom) is not buddys son. However Snow (like buddy did) is changing the instrument and is an absolute drum "animal"..he is the next big thing in drumming.

Oh, that was great. I always thought that Animal was paterned a little after John Bohnam, but this takes the cake. I think my new favorite drummers are Buddy Rich and Animal, along with Peart, Palmer and Bohnam.

ROFL! It's a good thing Max Roach didn't lose it like animal did when Rich smoked him technically on their face off album. Roach had more funk, but Rich was a monster!
He wasn't too nice to some of his band members though. He kicked one of his crew off the bus in the middle of the desert on their way to Las Vegas. What a walk of shame ..... if he made it, that is. D-:
