I'm European and I kind of agree with you. Pantheon and Grom from the US are awesome, and they're what I'd call original. Early BM stuff out of Europe is the best, and not even modern BM bands can live up to it. But when modern Norway is dishing out shitty bands like Gorgoroth and Zyklon, who are only famous because they jumped on the bandwagon, it's no wonder other countries are trying to carry the torch.

@misanthropyeternal Sargeist sound very simple next to 1349, Behexen- same plus shit vocals, Horna- boring, Black Funeral- pretty kvlt but nowhere near as complex or brutal as 1349, Ibex Throne- thin sound compared to 1349. It seems like you dig the really atmospheric stuff. 1349 are all about brutality/complexity/throat ripping vocals/great riffs and pushing the boundaries of BM. In those areas they are IMO the pinnacle band of the genre.
