  • Nephilims were giants. To understand this movie, one requires a good understanding of the occult.

  • I still can't believe this film was made in 1979.

  • @1986wumpscut i cant believe its not butter

  • its the space jockey i looked it up

  • We are gonna see this guy alive pretty soon :)

  • It's a nephilim, as written in the Bible, Genesis chapter 6

  • @FreakAlert2008 A nephilim, sitting in a giant space cannon?

  • Isnt this the thingy in the Prometheus?

  • Soon we will finally gets some answers to what this is. I cant wait for Prometheus its gonna kick ass...

  • Good old blu ray

  • New Blade Runner movie now in the works with Ridley Scott directing

  • the space jockey should have remained a mystery...

  • @Itachi21x I also think it's a big mistake to reveal the story behind the space jockey and demystify its origin. Ridley is going to kill his masterpiece (alien 1). Speaking of the space jockey, I have always wondered why the crew of the Nostromo didn't seem much surprised or shocked to encounter an alien specie with highly intelligent capabilities (they found the SJ in a spaceship). They were quite nonchalant about that as if it was normal to stumble upon an extra terrestrial.

  • @betraktare1

I think the biggest mistake of ridley is to make the SJ nothing more than a giant human in an alien suit..

I always liked the idea of the SJ being a race of biomechanical beings like some of fan artworks depict them (or like in the first concept arts of alien)

  • There are many great movies, but only one Alien. This one. Amazing stuff.

  • @rodrigoraulsuarez

Yes, there's only one 'Alien'. And only one of the Alien sequels was forgivable (because it was just so kickass), and that is 'Aliens'.

  • this is my fav scene when they go into the ship

  • @schapman235

    Mine too!

  • Blade Runner and Alien both are amazing, the very very very best of all futuristic idea we could ever imagine

  • @SuperJorgegaleano

Yes, two of the best sci-fi movies ever made. I can't wait to see what Ridley Scott (with writers Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof) have cooked up. Exciting stuff for sci-fi fans.

  • Go watch the trailer for Prometheus after you watch this. Something might look familiar at the 0:44 mark.

Tried to link it but it wont let me

  • the alien from this movie is directly from the necronomicon

  • @TheMightyGORT

    GORT! Klaatu barada nikto!

  • watch the thin not the shitty new one the 2nd one

  • late 70s and 80s are the best hand made graphic like movies the 60s mainly westerns nuf said 50 scyfi horror cheasy very sadly they shoulduv came in the 80s.

  • David Fincher did everything he could to make the movie less "shitty" which BTW he did !!!

The fact is the studio had their own take on Alien 3 .... Basically they just wanted to kill off Hicks and Newt and screw the whole damn thing up !!! So they putted an egg in the Sulaco !

here's your answer the studio put the egg in the ship and let the fans torture themselves with this question ........

  • Look at this !!!! Non CGI, classic Special effects godness. This is awesome !!!! The visuals are just amazing for 1979 !!! Better than most of This CGI horseshit. Anyways best Sci - Fy Horror EVER !!!

  • The score is great.A lesser director or composer would of put scary music all the way through this scene.

  • Was this a deleted scene from the original?

  • @zachflame123 no part of original.

  • Love it.

  • I think most of you will disagree but i'm badly afraid this fucking Prometheus-Movie will DESTROY or STEEL us the myths around this extraterrestrial spacecruiser and it's arcane crew..

    Ridley, you shouldn't..

  • @JeverHuelse

Actually, the idea that the creature in the chair in this scene being the creator of the aliens, was a fan idea. It was popular fan fiction, and has been for over a decade. Ripley has simply taken what the majority of fans wanted to be the story, and made it the story.

  • O_O I just go like this, wann saw this first time

  • PROMETHEUS will reveal who is that AlienNerd?

  • That Jockey alien is a Nerd

  • I didn't sleep for months after watching this movie as a child...

  • @plasticparticle

Mine was Poltergeist. It's still stuck in my mind...

  • i hope they dont fuck up the prequel

  • @XKDUBSTEP

have abit trust in Ridley Scott he will make a great piece with respect to the original :)

  • @minox321

i agree, i have about 80% certainty the new one will be incredible.

i just get a feeling that without xenos it won't be the same...

but he will find something to make it epic i'm sure.

  • this must be set decades after prometheus

  • @MsPcengineer We'll see. Its not supposed to be a prequel really, so im dying to know if this will explain or tie in something but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Maybe the origin of the Aliens will be revealed but personally I dont need to see a perfect transition into the original Alien...Cannot wait tho!!

  • wow....amazing in HD.....better than hollowman

  • The art of movie set and prop design!!

  • Prometheus will reveal all!

  • Giger rules!!!!!!!

  • Ridley Scott is from the future.

  • the music is amazing and perfect here too. this whole scene is art. so eerie.

  • The spacejokey,

  • he is the ''jockey'' the pilot of the ship, ridley scott explains this on the quadrology pack extramaterial

  • wonder what the alien coming from tht thing wouldve looked like

  • i would like to see what happen to that huge race of aliens

  • Look at the architecture. It's fuckin impressive... and the movie is from the 70s!!!

  • always wanted to find out more about the space jocky.the guys part of the ship! geigers biomechanics hope the new films good.i dont think i seen a bad scott movie yet

  • still the best horror movie ever made...amazing and captivating visuals + the simplistic and claustrophobic atmosphere. No movie can match this gem

  • @kimskis I agree, even though Aliens is my favorite movie of all time, Alien really got me into SciFi and since then I've never looked back!

  • @kimskis What about John Carpenter's The Thing?

  • @GameBoyPL1991

The Thing was good and entertaining, but it was generic and pedestrian compared to Alien...it didn't have the atmoshere and mood of Scott's film, plus the effects of that movie are very dated. Alien ages like a fine wine - it was way before it's time and it still is in my opinion. Along with 2001 Space Odyssey these two movies define the ci-fi genre to me

  • @kimskis Yeah, Thing as sci-fi isn't very good, because it use many cliches, but as horror movie it still kick ass. That whole paranoia about which one of us is a monster from outer space is almost ultimate scare formula. Even The Thing from 2011 is still better than all modern "horror" movies.

Also speaking of sci-fi - dont' forget about Blade Runner.

BTW what other very good sci-fi movies you can suggest to watch?

  • @kimskis, IMO, neither do. First, the genre ALIEN did manage to redefine was actually the horror genre. Scott's masterpiece has no equal when it comes to creating an atmosphere of sheer terror. I still consider it his best film by far. As for 2001, count me as one of the few people on the planet that thinks this film is one of the most over-rated movies in history. A few spots of inspired genius surrounded by anything but. In no way would I ever put this film in the same league as ALIEN.

  • @kimskis, what exactly generic or pedestrian about Carpenter's The Thing?

  • @vaxxon1

the pure cheesiness and 80's feel is too prevalent in that movie I think...not that I didn't like it, but it has dated pretty badly throughout the years. Whereas you watch Alien and feel like it was made yesterday - that's how groundbreaking and unique this gem is.

  • @kimskis, I tend to agree but there are a few scenes in ALIEN that do come across as datedas well. As for THE THING, I never felt there was anything remotely cheesy in it whatsoever. Sure, some of the effects were arguably overthetop but the acting was every bit as good as it was in ALIEN and Carpenter did a great job of creating a tense atmosphere. As far as dated, yeah, I see your point.

  • @kimskis until prometheus :P

  • @kimskis Aliens (Alien 2) Is the best horror movie ever made.

  • @SuperTowlie1, I disagree. That honor definitely belongs to ALIEN. While I do consider ALIENS a better film overall, it's an entirely different animal.

  • @kimskis The Thing (1982) is right behind it. ;)

  • @kimskis Well I believe The Shining to be the best Horror Movie, and Blade Runner to be Ridleys Masterpiece, but i still give Alien 5 out of 5 stars

  • @3Axy10Est13 Alien beats Blade Runner in everyway.

  • @steviegbcool Alien is great but Blade Runner is beautiful. both 5 out of 5 though

  • @3Axy10Est13

I think there's going to be (in the sense of having a philosophical subtext that one can chew on forever) more 'Blade Runner' in Prometheus then 'Alien', but I think RS is also going to pull out all the tops on a "it must be scary" level. I think big hints of the setup for this can already be seen in the viral video with Guy Pearce as Peter Weyland. Woo this is gonna be good!

  • @steviegbcool

Are those two even worth comparing?

I haven't seen Blade Runner, but I'm planning to do it some time. Alien is fantastic, though.

  • @v1lle3

You haven't seen Blade Runner? Oooh, you must watch Ridley Scott's definitive 2007 Final Cut then.

Alien hints at a back story that the sequels have never explored (perhaps everyone looks at the 'space jockey' scene and thinks the idea looks too hard). Ridley Scott himself has said he's surprised that no one ever has. If Alien, Blade Runner, and the Peter Weyland TED viral teaser are anything to go by, Prometheus promises much.

  • @v1lle3 you really need to see Blade Runner. Soon.

  • @arwurth

    I will!

  • @kimskis best thriller :)

  • @kimskis YES!!!!

  • nice shaky crane move @ :18

  • what a brilliant brilliant film!

  • u kaputt

  • monsieur lapadite ob ich bevor ich gehe noch ein glas ihrer kostbaren milch haben durfte

  • Its a penis that's coming out of the guy who's sitting down.

The artist, Giger, has a thing for cocks.

  • I had an orgasm...

  • great now I want to watch the rest again haha.

  • When they made the set, Scott wasn't totally pleased with the size, so in all the shots where you can't see the people in the space suits, it was Scott's kids and someone else's kid in tiny suits. Win.

  • skull scale ratio comparison to alien skull in prometheus lab scene in trailer hints dead baby space jockey !!!

  • i think we're gonna find out that the aliens are biological weapons created by the "space jokeys", if you look at their architechture vs the alien's form, it is very similar in design

  • I loved the scale of this, just made the rest of the picture seem alien.

  • PROMETHUS MAKE SURE YOU GO SEE IT IN JUNE , SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS SCENE MEANS!!!!

  • H.R. Giger

  • Ey Jockey ! R U Okey !?

  • Comment removed

  • (From the novel "Aliens") Ripley telling the inqury board, "We saw the pilot, dead in his chair...with a hole in his chest the size of a welder's tank!"

  • @Crazcompart That's unusual, since Ripley was back at the Nostromo during this scene and never set foot on the alien spaceship or saw the space jockey. She must have been repeating to the inquiry board what Dallas told her.

  • Prometheus is coming... and he took Bob and that monkey with him

  • wait so can someone answer this please? I am so confused from reading stuff online. Is Prometheus going to be about space jockey? Or is it going to be something entirely different.

  • @angerbell3 basically it will be about technology and the ability to manipulate and engineer life, like the space jockey is actually a humanoid being in a bio mechanical suit that was grown by manipulating dna, the spaceship is also conspicuously organic in nature. i imagine humans find that technology on lv 426 and it spirals out of control and the jockeys are seen and involved whether they are protagonists or antagonists or maybe the technology itself is the antagonist

  • @UniteForgetLeftRight ohhh okay!!! thank you so much for taking the time to answer. =)

  • how did it get so HD at 1979?

  • @keverinkarama Film is/was very high resolution..

  • @keverinkarama it was shot in film, that's how.

  • @EPICT0ASTER and compared to other films at that time?

  • @keverinkarama all films shot with film can be easily digitized into an HD format.

  • @EPICT0ASTER is there other ways it could be shot besides "film"? or is that all movies?

  • I can't wait to see how Prometheus turns out.

  • Apparently according to the aliens, the space jockey tasted like chicken................but it wasnt halaal so I guess they never went back?

  • After Promrtheus

  • @TheFenixFallen i mean "Prometheus"!

  • H.R. Giger, true master of strange

  • 8.06.2012

  • this is why alien is better than aliens, the sense of mystery behind it

  • I love the atmosphere in the first film, i hope they have stayed true to Gigers work in Prometheus. Im sure that Ridley Scott will do an amazing job on it.

  • long lives to the space jockey, fathers of the mankins

  • Alien perfect sci fi film cannot fault it in any way classic

  • Someone needs to make a movie to explain how the ship crashed, how there came to be so many eggs and the most important question, what happened to all the aliens?

  • @Rukia4194 We might find out this year. Check out the trailer for PROMETHEUS.

  • @14ALL41OK Thanks for the tip, I believe your right and I can't wait til it comes out

  • @Rukia4194 The Behind the Scenes material states that this ship may have served as a "bomber", seeding Alien eggs on enemy worlds, and that the pilot accidentally was infected due to a failure of the containment system (that blue mist that reacted when broken). Another theory is that this was a science vessel that picked up the eggs from the Alien's original homeworld, the Pilot became infected because he didn't know what he was dealing with.

  • @Fbueller129 i am willing to bet the humans created the aliens by accident while experimenting on the "ampules" they found in the head room, and by the time the space jockeys arrive its too late so they just broadcast a warning feeling confident anyone coming to the planet to learn their secrets will die from the aliens

  • @Rukia4194 As to what happened to the Alien that was birthed from the Pilot, I'd imagine that if the ship had crashed decades or even centuries prior to the Nostromo finding it that the Alien would have died of old age or starvation.

  • Q!: What happened to the actual Alien that exploded from this space jockeys chest? It was never shown in the film at all. The only alien shown was the one that came out of Kane.

  • @THX11003 It died after years of isolation and no food source or was on another part of the massive ship and/or planet when the Nostromo arrives and thus does not make an appearance or maybe another ship has landed their before and accidentally taken it on board or...

  • @THX11003 they actually touch on this in the awesome Metroidvania-style shoot 'em up Aliens: Infestation (on the DS).

one of the bosses is a giant, chestburster-colored alien with a Space Jockey trunk that vomits acid.

lost two marines fighting that thing.

  • @SonicSnail95 Oh shit. Thats cool. I never knew that. Im gonna look it up.

  • @THX11003 It proberby got bord of watching jeremy kyle and cooking programs

  • @Ke1ithLemon Ok.

  • Can someone tell me please where is the carcass of the facehugger that impregnated this space jockey??

  • @THX11003 Probably long since blown away by the storms shown to frequent the planet or fallen behind the massive chair, or into the creatures body cavity or rotted away (like the creature itself is now only bones) or in plain sight but blending in with its alien surroundings so that the 3 people with steamed up space helmets and a lack of peripheral vision don't notice it or....

  • @Caesarslegion1 Good point.

  • that is one of the leaked set photos from prometheus. creppy...

  • @samwellard7 this is from alin 1979, watch the movie again and know what your talking about

  • that's just a space suit, not the actual Space Jockey

  • what is a space jockey?

  • @wirthquake The dead alien sitting on the chair.

  • Yes Lambert lets get the hell out of here !

  • this is really good quality

  • ...i want my room to look like that!...

  • Did anybody else notice the space jockey appearing in the Promethus trailer?

  • @ZUI991 NO FUCKING WAY

  • @ZUI991

He didn't appear just his chair.... and during that scene you see the engineer standing next to it

  • this movie is still the shit even after 33 years...years ahead of its time

  • so this is a giant alien space jockey?

  • This is what makes a good writer/director. A fool would have just had the nasty aliens attack the human ship, but here the writer adds a 2nd alien species that many of us forgot about on first viewing. If you think about it its pure class, because it added so much intrigue that its spawning a new set of movies. When I see Robin Hood I start thinking Scott is overrated... When I think of things like this I know hes not.

  • @Pentdad Scotts up their with the greatest ever. Bladerunner and Alien are movies that will never seem dated even though they were made years ago.

  • @ROSST1011 -- In all fairness, both "Alien" and "Blade Runner" are a tiny bit dated because when they were made, Japan's economy was still growing to such an extent that some people thought Japanese companies might take over American ones (hence the subtle hint that the Weyland-Yutani corporation of the "Alien" franchise might have partly originated in Japan, as well as the significant use of Japanese images and language in "Blade Runner"). Many young people wouldn't pick that up.

  • Prometheus is coming...

  • this makes me wanna watch the whole series again

  • no computer generated crap here.just lots of fibreglass

  • @fritzkat lmfao!

  • @fritzkat and children in really hot spacesuits lol

  • "Let's get the hell out of here."

Yeah, just walk away from the most powerful archaeological find of human history, finding intelligent alien life. No biggie.

  • @TheManFromSokoto "Let's get the hell out of here." Yeh thats the line that always got me in this film, as soon as she says that, I knew they were getting in2 sumthin serious lol.

  • @TheManFromSokoto she was right all the time

  • I always wanted them to show more about the alien & the ship they seamed so a costumed to the hole event

  • what the hell was that thing anyway ?

  • @2013doom you are going to know.... if you watch prometheus.

  • @2013doom my words exactly! however i'm not sure i wanna know it, cause than it all maybe lost that kind of secret, which makes the story so extraordinary...

  • @2013doom space jockey

  • that control thing it's in the Prometheus trailer!

  • That poor alien: it died of a facehugger infection before it could use its Super Death Ray.

  • Great great movie !

  • It's my hope that although Prometheus isn't a direct prequel, that it ties up some of the loose ends of Alien and posesses some relevence to the franchise. I want to see how that space jockey dies, it would also be interesting to see if the space jockey is the main antagonist of the film itself or if a bio weapon like the alien is involved. Either way i have high hopes.

  • @BOSIE321 Prometheus will not take place on the same planet LV426 which was the planet in Alien and Aliens. The story is set 30 years prior to Alien on another planet with a totally different story unrelated to the events of Alien. I guess you can say Prometheus is a spiritual prequel but not a direct prequel to Alien. Think of Prometheus as a totally different movie about some people who encounter the Space Jockey.

  • @Xienis I know it's not set on the planet but i thought that the ship might actually crash there and we might get some indication as to how that space jockey died. In this scene it has obviously been dead a hell of a long time. I read somewhere too that the last 8 minutes of the film are related to Alien, so i'm hoping the fate of this space jockey will be explored.

  • @BOSIE321 Where did you read that? Ridley Scott specifically said Prometheus wont explain what happened to the Space Jockey or the crashed ship in Alien sadly. There will be no physical connection between the 2 films at all, Google it.

  • @Xienis you're joking? Watch the Prometheus trailer and you can see the ship rolling and being damaged by an explosion.

  • @Xienis well i did just type in 'are the last 8 minutes of Prometheus related to alien' and it came up with Ridley saying something to that effect BUT on the whole all evidence does suggest that Promethus will only distantly reference the original ALIEN. So youre right in saying it's not a true prequel which is a shame. Still looking forward to it though.
