Bucky, are you sure about the article and section tags? I believe both works, but to me it seems more semantic if the section tag goes inside the article tag. Than you would have different sections inside one article area. You see my point?
Near the beginning of the video when bucky's says, "I am going to be talking to you guys about the different parts of the body". I was like, umm... bucky, we all know about your posters and stuff, but this is HTML5, not the BODY. Then i realized its a html5 video. XD
great job, Bucky! You are getting better at doing these videos every day. I have been watching you from the very beginning with your C and C++ videos.
Please delve into how you create categories under other categories. It will be helpful for some of us, that try to get into web development.
You are the best, and is nice having you now full time! You did great with the chemistry videos, and are doing awesome with your html5, which I have waiting for you do some videos on. again, thank you
I was hoping that when he explained the "aside" tag didn't move it, that he was really unhappy cuz the page was screwed up b/c he never closed the -h1- tag.
@inuasha880 I really don't think that explains it very well to @vaporizer41. The use of div are to divide the areas and content of the page in to sections on a page, where as tag can be further divided down and identified with 'id tags'. which allows the web designer allocate more than css styles to a section, if that makes sense.
I'm sure you knew this it just didn't help vaporizer41. and now I'm doubting myself.
@Vaporizer41 well....if you use divs you can get lost in the code,html5 tags are more organized. Also search engines were adapted to HTML5 so it really helps on SEO.
Pressing ctrl+d copies the current selected line :)

Do you not have to put the slash on an ending tag in html5?
For example, he put h1h1 and it worked
Thanks :)
sanfranPinkFloydfan 1 month ago
@sanfranPinkFloydfan it worked because the browser is smart enough to realize what he actually meant but the code is not valid.

whats the purpose of those tags? you keep saying "it tells the browser", but that doesn't really matter. So is it just to organize code better?

@ndm250 Pretty much. and easier referencing.

4:36 Make use of the CTRL+D shortcut, it clones your current line (or selection), so it's pretty useful in writing html and css stuff. :)

what is the pro of using header tag instead of a header div
Vaporizer41 4 months ago 25
@Vaporizer41 SEO
ordiantakeover 4 months ago
@Vaporizer41 i assume that its more obvious, for example in a big website you don't want to go through all the div tags looking for an id="foo"
maradona640 4 months ago
@Vaporizer41 This is like asking why use True in python scripts rather than 1. It is more HTML5ish to use the head tag.

@Vaporizer41 semantics, they are virtually identical in modern browsers.
hobolooter 4 months ago
@Vaporizer41 I think it helps browsers with special features, and it also is easier to type "header" than "div class='header'" or whatever

@Vaporizer41 header div is old-school. HTML5 is so much more awesome, so you drop the div.
