drove these when i was 17 ( 40 years ago ) great cars but you have to push them hard to get anywhere. I had a B95 too, very fast, not like the Excelsiors !
Not Spam I promise! There is a forum for these cars started not that long ago, hopefully a few more members and we will have a thriving little community going. berkeleycars.50.forumer.com
LOL! So... if it rains, do you reach over the windshield with a squeegee? You'll probably get more push if you swap in a mower engine... Say, a 5hp Briggs & Stratton with a Comet clutch should get it going real nice... Hole-in-the-floor reverse... Hoowee! One Scream'n Demon! You could even drive it all the way to your favorite fishing hole... if it's in your back yard!
This would certainly be an answer to global pollution and gas consumption. The question is how would you keep it? Four men could pick it up and put it in the back of a truck. I once owned a '63 MG Midget. It was stolen in 1965 and I never saw it again. While I had it, it was the most fun car I ever drove.
My best friend bought 2 in 1970 for $500. 1 for parts and 1 in near mint condition--a lot of fun and sounds cool too-both were the 2 cylinder excelsior powered--we were 16 at the time and within a year both cars were in a corner of the garage----our interest shifted to a Alfa Sprint Veloce Special--ex-factory racer-plexi windows and aluminum doors- trunk-hood,thats the car that taught us all the value of money---and patience ,waiting for the Pope to bless the parts :):):)
It is the 492 three cylinder. It was running, but not very well. Essentially in "as found" conditions. It has since been rebuilt with new lower chamber seals. Runs smoothly now.

The Mini belongs to the owner of the Berkeley. He is the original owner, purchased in Oregon, I believe.
