  • I upgraded my samsung galaxy mini to 2.3 yesterday and I didn't get half these graphical things :P (gingerbread 2.3.5)

Also, is there any way to exit touchwiz?

  • Gingerbread it's awesome!! I love it!

  • I love gingerbread!! ~<3

  • I was sick and tired of froyo I couldn't help myself I put CM7 on my phone just to get gingerbread it was totally worth it haha

  • sooo glad i got a galaxy s2... these phones look terrible :-\

  • @evans387 I'm a S2 owner but I think these phone design looked better. :L

  • im gonna go make some gingerbread cookies now!

  • Gingerbread? Fancy, misleading jargon for a program that offers basically NOTHING except corrections to previous ERRORS!!!!!!!!!!

  • @markymarklpn8 isn't that what all updates are?

  • @markymarklpn8 It offers a shitload of programs to easily make apps and developp for android, gingerbread was more "developper" oriented. If you want to see cosmetic and speed change get a Galaxy Nexus.

  • @markymarklpn8 dude go find a dictionary and look up update i'm willing to bet one of the definitions has to do with making corrections -_-

  • can i do it on a Samsung galaxy S 1??

  • @DREAMGIRLxxx100 Updates for that are coming. Slooowwwllllyyyy. Verizon is still field testing 2.3.5 for the Fascinate.

  • @DannleChannel i knooooow its so annoying i have the fascinate to and its really stupid i actually just recently updated to 2.3 and i want 4.0 already i feel so behind!

  • any1 noticed that the touch screen on the 2.3 is more responsive than the 2.2?

  • when will the 2.3 gingerbread be available for lg optimus 3d?

  • @Bernardinho1990 just root your phone and upgrade it yourself, i did it.

Im running gingerbread on a htc tattoo :D

  • 4:48 Winnie the Pooh sounds gross. Winnie the Pooh sounds gross. Winnie the Pooh sounds gross.

  • My Atrix has the App Manager in the settings menu on the homescreen and it has Froyo :D but I really want to see the Atrix getting Gingerbread for the dual core support..

  • I was sitting with my Galaxy S Gingerbread phone next to my and did all the same stuff that you did, And it´s nothing that look the same, I hate Touchwiz... Next Phone I buy will be a google phone.

  • My Droid X with 2.3.3 Gingerbread is better.

  • Liked the video, hated the narrator because he had stereo microphones so it became annoying to listen him running from one side to another all the time...

+ My lg android with 2.2 supports most of the 2.3 features shown here...

  • i think 2.3 is a lot better than 2.2 cant wait for it to come out on the Vibrant.

  • Just got a nexus s and I love it

  • @1998JackRoberts do you love the no HD video recording? how bout the no expandable memory? i have a samsung captivate myself and i was looking forward to the nexus s as my next phone... thoroughly disappointed :(

  • @rammy912 Well Aparently I Do I Like No Expandable Storage I Had An iPhone For A Year No Video Recording Well Yet Again I Had An iPhone For a Year VGA Video Recording - Well Its Your Choice But I Have A Nexus S And I Love It And A Phone Like The Captivate You Deserve All You Get

  • @1998JackRoberts the analog clock is in the widgets option.. :)

  • if you think nexus s looks better thumbs down the comment in the highest rated comments

  • Review cyanogen mod.. oh i guess you apple people have never heard of that

  • Can someone help me out here? Im just wondering if anybody knows if that power down animation on the nexus s (the one thats like a TV turning off) is a part of gingerbread or a part of just the nexus s.

    Does anyone know?

  • @Davidwilson1212 its a part of gingerbread

  • @bass4life77 Sweet, so any phone thats upgraded to it gets that feature? Where did you find that out?

  • I hate this reviewer talks too much shows nothing come on, shut up!

  • lol I'm running 2.3 on my Desire

  • Forgot to mention the integrated SIP support on Nexus s (i don't know if it's android version depended or device depended though

  • I think that the reason why they went really black with gingerbread is because it's a Samsung SuperAMOLED device. And the way their screens work, the more black, the less battery.

  • nice Name Nexus S, S stands for Nexus Sucksssss, Nexus one is the Best :) do you agree then thumbs UP bro

  • how to add contacts ??

  • I must say that although I don't care for Android, 2.3 looks...decent.

  • why is he afraid to touch the phone its not gonna bite you

  • When does the droid x get this update?

  • The starting is kinda pansy.

  • 5:52 got a text from an iphone while reviewing nexus s.....

  • froyo doesnt look like that. have you installed a launcher or are you running 1.6 ? the comparison isnt great due to it being wrong, i work with phones and 2.2 ( froyo ) does not look like that

  • @leekucia SIllyface, that IS Froyo. My Nexus one looks identical to the one in this video and it's running 2.2.1.

  • lmao! at 5:49 you here the iphone messaging sound lol

  • @MegaMnguyen what rom leak did u use please

  • mute.

  • I hope the battery isn't going to be drained as much with android 2.3 :P

  • dude u talk 2 much

  • Because Sony Ericsson X10 is slow as a dumb slug.

  • you sound soo happy :D

  • How do i update my android firmware???

  • @leetruff you dont update you wait till at&t tells you theres a update f(or Galaxy users this has been something giant)

  • LOL, Android Feels like true Linux.

Yet Macintosh is Linux, yet its more like a restricted Linux.

  • @ZER0EVO Except OS X is UNIX based.

  • on android 2.2 with the keyboard. You can click on the text, and then slide your finger across the screen and move the cursor to where you want it. You don't just have to click it over and over until you get it where you want it.

  • @skrbicdu Android upgrades are reliant on whether the manufacturer (ex. HTC, Samsung, Motorola etc.) wants to upgrade their phones, not Google. The exception are the nexus (the only two phones Google will really care about) which are always the first in line to get future upgrades and possibly the most popular of android phones. Apple is reliant on getting updates out on the same day, but don't forget they don't give it to all iOS devices and not the full features on every device.

  • I am running android 2.2.1 on my htc hd2 and this new gingerbread is no different from my version except some skin colors and animations my excitement level kinda flew away on this one.Although it still is cool looking.

  • how do you get this on the htc desire?

  • how do you update a g2 for tmoblie?

  • from 2.2 to 2.3, it may not be "revolutionary", but from a person stuck with a motorola cliq xt and stuck on android 1.5,...

2.3 would be quite nice to have

IF motorola ever decides they want to update this phone since everyone else at least has 2.1 >=[

  • really? that's it? not worth it i may say. im using an O1 and even though they already announced that it will have the 2.3 upgrade it doesn't excite me that much now.

  • Can I get Andriod 2.3 on my HTC Incredible? If so how?

  • It is meant to compare 2.3 with 2.2, but, Samsung have alot of the functionality of 2.3 in their versions of 2.2. So for me, there doesnt seem to be many additional features.

  • @skrbicdu Android 1.6 is only just over a year old. It was released in September 2009.

  • Comment removed

  • @skrbicdu Its Sony Ericsson that handle the updates fo the X10.

  • Only impressive improvement was the copy/paste. I love my N1! No need to buy Samsung just yet, orange Humming birds and all.

  • Comment removed

  • wtf? i still hav 2.1!! T.T

  • The downloads was available in Froyo as well.

    Browser > Menu > More > Downloads.

  • Booooooring. All Android phones are alike. They shoud start to use Symbian^3 which is much versatile. Thank god there is better alternative to this Androud-shit!

  • @agar2 Yea, I'm gonna be completely unbiased as I am an avid tech savvy person and I'm gonna assume 1.) you are a natural born hater, 2.) your assessment on Android is completely incorrect, 3.) Symbian U.I. is very poor, I have owned a n96, n97, N900, and now sitting on my dresser is a N8 and I can tell you that the 600 mhz cpu they put in the phone makes the flash lite in the browser and home screen switching lags seriously, I havent sold it yet cause Im waiting for SPB mobile shell 5.0

  • @SkyWalkaThaTruth I agree with agar2 with some things, First Android does get boring when new phones come out every month. It makes the OS feel "not unique" too many phones have the same OS and the difference between these phones is minimal. But Symbian is terrible the phone is slow and it really isn't that special.

  • @SkyWalkaThaTruth you're a smart man.

  • Will the HTC Desier be getting 2.3? :)

  • 2.3is out and i still have2.1. Im switching phones.

  • @braedon218 me too

i have x10 and i am very sad about 2.1

i dont get it why everything needs that long

but i still have to wait 1,5 years for a new phone

and then there will already be 3.1 or something like that

  • meh nothing big just tiny things really...

  • whenever i see th enexus one, i just see my phone.... the htc desire. they are so similar. i think i prefer the look of the desire but i envy the closer relationship with google it has. i think my desire will be one of the phones to get gingerbread but after a long wait beings as gingerbread will probably be skinned. i cant see htc giving their high end sense phones an un-skinned android

  • @kahuna3901 The Desire was is a nexus one with HTC sense, almost all the specs are exact same.

I think the Desire was the first phone to get 2.2 after Nexus One.

  • @Pretoriance it was one of them. alot of htc phones were first. the only difference between the nexus and desire is a tiny bit of ram. i think if the nexus can handle it then the desire definitely can

  • 5:01 on nexus one, winnie the pooh is gross good one jon

  • Can't wait to see what HTC will do with this

  • hhmmm

  • Gotta love Angry Birds....

  • i think the nexus one looks better

  • hey jon! can you make a review of Galaxy S vs. Nexus S? Thanks in advance :D

  • can i get this for my droid eris??????????????

  • @eggshi No.... not for a while.

  • No differrence

  • PLZ PROT 2.3 stock to samsung fascinate!

  • Nexus one looks way better.

  • @tinzovideo I guess you didn't notice the super-washed out colors on the Nexus One.

  • @mattob775 true

  • @mattob775 thats because it doesnt have a super amoled screen

  • Does it offer better battery management?

  • I'd like to be able to have folders in the menu so i can organize all my apps.

  • LOL winne the pooh sounds gross

  • pretty much ripped off htc sense lol

  • Android is fragmented.

And also. "If you have an task manager. You blew it."

  • Android is fragmented.

  • Android updates are much more fancy than the iOS, everytime i download a .0 upgrade i kinda get disappointed because the Android ones are huge, compared to iOS upgrades

  • Starts touching phone @ 1:29

  • Will the droid 2 global get this update?

  • the new thing with the nexus s has is that it doesn't make me vomit.

  • You can use the trackball

  • You make the capacitive buttons look so bad.

  • soo how or when can i get 2.3 on my G2?

  • the dialer looks a lot like the wp7 dialer

  • The Samsung status bar, EWH! Samsung really CANT make phones -.-

  • @TheDeathTwo Lol, Its what Google wanted it to be fucking stupid. Im getting sick of all of these comments flaming Samsung, Its googles phone, they just told samsung what to do with it..

Stop saying the quality of Samsung phones suck, Im guessing google took samsung for the speed, and the quality of samsung phones = great!

    they hold really well -.-

  • @Pretoriance did i say that the quality of samsung phones sucks?

and btw, the samsung can make good and stable phones, but i HATE their phone designs, and their Android "overlay" used on Galaxy S..... It just looks terrible in my opinion.

  • @TheDeathTwo Lol, You just "Samsung CANT make phones" and now you said they can?

It just bothers me that so many think the samsung phones without knowing anything about them, this phone is google, google decides whats on it.

The design of this phone is totally unique and really cool, sure it could have been done with aluminum back cover but who cares?

I dont get why you answerd with that you dont like the overlay they put on Galaxy S because this is the 2.3 Nexus S phone? Its still from google.

  • @Pretoriance what i said about the samsungs UI on their galaxy S have nothing to do with the Nexus S. The Nexus S is running stock Android.

And, Google doesnt got a factory or stuff like that to make phones, so they makes a partnership with a mobile producer. When i said "Samsung CANT make phones" i was talking about the design, not the specifications. But, I have tried many Samsung phones both at store and at home. I Don't like their Lock Screen.

  • @TheDeathTwo You said you hated their phones due to their overlay.

I know the Nexus S is running stock android and that google doesnt have a factory but they tell the manufacturers (in this case Samsung) what to put into their phone, because its their flagship device

You can change the lock screen on the Samsung Galaxy devices.

  • @Pretoriance On the Samsung Wave it isnt the worst, cus the screen is 3,2". On the Galaxy S, the screen is 4" and that makes it difficult to unlock the device, because its hard to swipe the thin black layer of the screen, if we are using only 1 hand of course. But the specifications on Samsung phones is good. Also is the battery. HTC Batteries are too bad.

  • @TheDeathTwo I have the Galaxy S and I have no troubles unlocking the phone what so ever. Every manufacturer have their downs and ups.

There isnt any perfect phone yet for everything, "there is this perfect phone except its missin this and this and that" and so on.

Great conversation with u eventhough we arnt really even bout it, I liked it ;) You can keep on writing, I'll still reply

  • @TheDeathTwo It's your opinions against mine.

  • @Pretoriance okay :) Everybody is different :)

  • @TheDeathTwo Yeah ;)

  • @TheDeathTwo samsung didnt make the status bar...

  • @jackalarrr No, but it looks like the samsung status bar. Both is really black. But i think the 2.3 status bar is better than the 2.2. I went back to Cyanogen from Sense, the first thing i thought was how ugly the status bar was. The grey bar didnt fit in.

  • You should do Nexus S vs Nexus One.

Not only the chagnes but speed and such

  • Samsung Lock Button at the site? FUCK!!

Green buttons, a little nice, but maybe someone doesnt like green really good? would be cool to customize it ourself :)

But the lock animation was HAWT!<3

  • The select text icon was there in 2.2 on the Galaxy S.

  • I think the point of having no SD cart slot is to get other companies to have more internal storage..

Samsung Galaxy S devices 8 GB or 16 GB, HTC Desire HD 1,5 GB <- too little...

  • @Pretoriance How does the lack of an SD slot on a particular device get other manufacturers to increase internal storage? It makes no sense. On the other hand, if Google drops support for external storage in the OS itself, then manufacturers will be FORCED to increase internal memory. But should anyone want this? I sure don't. I got myself the N900, it offers 32GB of internal storage + microSD card slot. It's fantastic, I have so much music, videos, maps etc!

  • @giecsar I said "I think".. I have no idea why though..

  • @Pretoriance Also note that many Android phones dont even have 1 GB. (like mine...sigh) It really will be awesome if the companies start to make larger storage more consistent.

  • @gundam00lover4eva Yeah I know and that can really suck.

  • Winnie the pooh sounds gross?

  • What's up everyone Jon Rettinger from Techno Buffalo here...

  • TFT screens are soooo garbage

  • On the Nexus S the time is 5:05 , on the Nexus One 12:07 =))

  • @elripper1317 There is a new Se coming out in march i think it is called

    Sony Ericsson Anzu :/

  • I like it, its more of a refined 2.2 Froyo. It's more of a change for devs with developing apps and games

  • Check ya iPhone sound's like ya got a MSG!!! LOL!!!
