@markymarklpn8 It offers a shitload of programs to easily make apps and developp for android, gingerbread was more "developper" oriented. If you want to see cosmetic and speed change get a Galaxy Nexus.

Can someone help me out here? Im just wondering if anybody knows if that power down animation on the nexus s (the one thats like a TV turning off) is a part of gingerbread or a part of just the nexus s.
I think that the reason why they went really black with gingerbread is because it's a Samsung SuperAMOLED device. And the way their screens work, the more black, the less battery.
froyo doesnt look like that. have you installed a launcher or are you running 1.6 ? the comparison isnt great due to it being wrong, i work with phones and 2.2 ( froyo ) does not look like that
on android 2.2 with the keyboard. You can click on the text, and then slide your finger across the screen and move the cursor to where you want it. You don't just have to click it over and over until you get it where you want it.
@skrbicdu Android upgrades are reliant on whether the manufacturer (ex. HTC, Samsung, Motorola etc.) wants to upgrade their phones, not Google. The exception are the nexus (the only two phones Google will really care about) which are always the first in line to get future upgrades and possibly the most popular of android phones. Apple is reliant on getting updates out on the same day, but don't forget they don't give it to all iOS devices and not the full features on every device.
I am running android 2.2.1 on my htc hd2 and this new gingerbread is no different from my version except some skin colors and animations my excitement level kinda flew away on this one.Although it still is cool looking.
really? that's it? not worth it i may say. im using an O1 and even though they already announced that it will have the 2.3 upgrade it doesn't excite me that much now.
It is meant to compare 2.3 with 2.2, but, Samsung have alot of the functionality of 2.3 in their versions of 2.2. So for me, there doesnt seem to be many additional features.
Booooooring. All Android phones are alike. They shoud start to use Symbian^3 which is much versatile. Thank god there is better alternative to this Androud-shit!
@agar2 Yea, I'm gonna be completely unbiased as I am an avid tech savvy person and I'm gonna assume 1.) you are a natural born hater, 2.) your assessment on Android is completely incorrect, 3.) Symbian U.I. is very poor, I have owned a n96, n97, N900, and now sitting on my dresser is a N8 and I can tell you that the 600 mhz cpu they put in the phone makes the flash lite in the browser and home screen switching lags seriously, I havent sold it yet cause Im waiting for SPB mobile shell 5.0
@SkyWalkaThaTruth I agree with agar2 with some things, First Android does get boring when new phones come out every month. It makes the OS feel "not unique" too many phones have the same OS and the difference between these phones is minimal. But Symbian is terrible the phone is slow and it really isn't that special.
whenever i see th enexus one, i just see my phone.... the htc desire. they are so similar. i think i prefer the look of the desire but i envy the closer relationship with google it has. i think my desire will be one of the phones to get gingerbread but after a long wait beings as gingerbread will probably be skinned. i cant see htc giving their high end sense phones an un-skinned android
@Pretoriance it was one of them. alot of htc phones were first. the only difference between the nexus and desire is a tiny bit of ram. i think if the nexus can handle it then the desire definitely can
Android updates are much more fancy than the iOS, everytime i download a .0 upgrade i kinda get disappointed because the Android ones are huge, compared to iOS upgrades
@TheDeathTwo Lol, Its what Google wanted it to be fucking stupid. Im getting sick of all of these comments flaming Samsung, Its googles phone, they just told samsung what to do with it..

@Pretoriance did i say that the quality of samsung phones sucks?
and btw, the samsung can make good and stable phones, but i HATE their phone designs, and their Android "overlay" used on Galaxy S..... It just looks terrible in my opinion.
@Pretoriance what i said about the samsungs UI on their galaxy S have nothing to do with the Nexus S. The Nexus S is running stock Android.
And, Google doesnt got a factory or stuff like that to make phones, so they makes a partnership with a mobile producer. When i said "Samsung CANT make phones" i was talking about the design, not the specifications. But, I have tried many Samsung phones both at store and at home. I Don't like their Lock Screen.
@TheDeathTwo You said you hated their phones due to their overlay.
I know the Nexus S is running stock android and that google doesnt have a factory but they tell the manufacturers (in this case Samsung) what to put into their phone, because its their flagship device
You can change the lock screen on the Samsung Galaxy devices.
@Pretoriance On the Samsung Wave it isnt the worst, cus the screen is 3,2". On the Galaxy S, the screen is 4" and that makes it difficult to unlock the device, because its hard to swipe the thin black layer of the screen, if we are using only 1 hand of course. But the specifications on Samsung phones is good. Also is the battery. HTC Batteries are too bad.
@jackalarrr No, but it looks like the samsung status bar. Both is really black. But i think the 2.3 status bar is better than the 2.2. I went back to Cyanogen from Sense, the first thing i thought was how ugly the status bar was. The grey bar didnt fit in.
@Pretoriance How does the lack of an SD slot on a particular device get other manufacturers to increase internal storage? It makes no sense. On the other hand, if Google drops support for external storage in the OS itself, then manufacturers will be FORCED to increase internal memory. But should anyone want this? I sure don't. I got myself the N900, it offers 32GB of internal storage + microSD card slot. It's fantastic, I have so much music, videos, maps etc!
@Pretoriance Also note that many Android phones dont even have 1 GB. (like mine...sigh) It really will be awesome if the companies start to make larger storage more consistent.
I upgraded my samsung galaxy mini to 2.3 yesterday and I didn't get half these graphical things :P (gingerbread 2.3.5)
Also, is there any way to exit touchwiz?

I like it, its more of a refined 2.2 Froyo. It's more of a change for devs with developing apps and games
