I came across this video about 5 years ago by accident. Since that time I have probably watched it perhaps 150 times. During my tour of duty in the Canadian Army I wrote and sang songs to the troops. And I thought I was good. But this song, by George Formby, is by far the most amazing military song I have ever heard.

its true after all...Ray davies of the kinks..made big hits..from..waterloo sunset...and sunny afternoon...when he used to listen to the formby old records of his mum n dad,,,i can hear so much of formby..in the Kinks songs....this guy has been a big influence for sure...

@Petey1308 RAF, the darker uniforms, all of the FS caps being tucked to the side in the style of the RAF (other ranks would attempt to do it as well later) and the long service dress jackets which the RAF kept into the war where as the army went to Battle Dress
