  • $150 dollar suits... these days they're $10000...

  • @tommyt1971 its still relative :D

  • Best performance in the damned film. Malden was PERFECT.

  • Almost like fable that rings true right now, I doubt God loves greed, people need to dwell and then take action

  • @sour8vein00 The fable you're talking about DOES ring true! America's legislative process & economy have been hijacked by the very rich.

  • Today (6/15/11) is the 100th birthday of Father Corridan, the real life priest who inspired the character of Father Barry, portrayed by Karl Malden. h/t Jack Fowler of NRO.

  • I think my favr scene in the movie is the one in the bar where Terry has the pistol.

  • Heh heh, Terry knocks Tillio out w/ONE punch...

  • Karl Malden was a great actor..he is portraying the real life "Waterfront Priest"Fr. John Corridan SJ...read the new book...Dark Harbor by Nathan Ward...you wont put it down till yur finished reading it...it tells the story behind the movie and the real stuff tha was the waterfront crimes...

  • @padretom96 Thanks for the heads up. . . a year later!

  • Brando, Karl Malden, Budd Schulberg, Lenard Bernstein, Elia Kazan. Has there ever been a more talented collaboration in film? This scene is one of those rare moments when film actually transcends film to reveal something deeper.

  • i love how they use boxing elements to personify the fight for good and the struggle of brando.

  • The writing for this film is simply stunning... I will never forget what it felt like to watch this scene for the first time.

  • Best sermon I ever heard. This should serve as a reminder to the preachers out there that Christ is about love and living for each other, not hate, or how much money is in the collection plate or the "I'm getting into heaven before you!" that some people show.

On top of that, this was one of the finest finest films, with one of the finest casts, and the one of the most brilliant and understated scores in film.

  • one of the most inspiring films of all time.

  • Greatest Christian moment in modern cinema!

  • modern? how much more archaic can you get .. silent movies?

  • Karl Malden was totaly better than Gregory Peck was

  • You betcha!

  • Not only did we lose Karl this summer, we also lost the man who put these amazing words in his mouth, screenwriter Budd Schulberg, just last week.

  • The film world is mourning the loss of one of hollywood's legendary actors Karl Malden. He'll be remembered for his Oscar-Winning role in A Streetcar Named Desire, as well as other flicks like On The Waterfront, Baby Doll, How The West Was Won, Patton, as well as the classic TV show The Streets of San Francisco. Good-Bye Mr. Malden and thanks for the memories. Karl Malden (1912-2009) : ( ...

  • Karl Malden, Marlon Brando, Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger...directed by Elia Kazan...written by Budd Schulberg...music by Leonard Bernstein....you can't assemble a team like that today. These are artists for the ages, as is this film...not the entertainment of the passing moment, which 99% of what gets released today is.

  • amen

  • Thanks for posting this. One of my favorite film scenes. Sure do Love it. Thanks Again.

  • Amazing! They don't make them like this anymore ...all factors considered!
