  • @BarryAldridge Have you done any of DavidTennant's Doctor Who?

  • My first time seeing this review. I was in Orlando at the time and caught the first 5th series online while in the hotel. I think I first ran into your reviews halfway through the series.

  • just wondering, who are your favorite doctors?

  • @daleksvscybermen Mine are Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee.

  • I only recently realized that until series 4, Doctor Who timeline was 1 year ahead of the viewers (since Doctor accidentally skipped a year in Aliens in London in series 1). Thus the events of 2009 TV specials were taking place in 2010. Which means that, while the Atraxi event was taking place in 2008, (sometime before the Dalek invasion of series 4 in 2009!), the series 5 mostly takes place in 2010, returning to viewers' time, when 10th Doctor was still active. Or am I wrong...?

  • @Kanuskiz yep, what i thought as well... Or The Doctor actually met rose in 2004.

  • karan jillan lol

  • This was a good episode. I love the food part and Amelia's reactions. This made me like the new doctor. Also I like the roof top scene when he asks the eye if the planet is protected. I like how he was still regenerating the whole episode and stumbling around because of it.

  • Matt Smith is the best Doctor in my opinion

  • I love your shirt. John Green is the man.

  • @someone332 He sure is.

  • Aaah, it's the Pizza-Shirt. I've got that one, too!

  • have you going to do series 1,2,3and4 or are you just going to do series 5?

  • @TheSilvernemesis at the moment Series 5, I may do other series in the future and the classic era ones from 1963 to 1989.

  • this is fucking shit your pritty much telling people what they already now get some stuff that people will enjoy put some jokes in and stuff and u will have so many vies

  • what was the thing Amy said about the doctor not being to let children cry?

  • @Garrraaahyyy That was a cool bit.

  • They changed so much! It's hard to get used to. New Doctor, new companion, new tardis, new sonic screwdriver, new music, new writer.... it's a new series, i swear. It's like back at the beginning of the new series again.

  • @Roybotica Yeah it does in a way.

  • Good Review!...Greetings from New York City! :)

  • @XaviusX Thanks and Greetings from Sussex.

  • the crack in the wall what is that

  • @davidcrazyrides Thats something I am figuring which could be explained later in the series.

  • Love the shirt! DFTBA!

  • @bjory7 DFTBA.

  • OMG i love coupling and i had no clue that they had the same producer.

  • @mvpsonly500 Well its the writer but it can surprise some people. Thanks for watching.

  • ITS SO GOOD to watch a decent review :)

  • @derangedband Thanks mate for watching.

  • @BarryAldridge i just finished watching your others and subbed! great stuff

and i have to say thats an impressive who collection on your dvd shelf :D

  • @derangedband Thanks mate. I got a few more Doctor Who DVDs about in my home. May do a video one day showing my Doctor Who Collection

  • Hi Barry just watched this episode, it's being broadcast here in Aus 2 weeks and a day behind the UK. I really enjoyed the episode, it was a fun way to kick of the new series. I'm looking forward to more episodes. I wait to watch your videos until after I've seen each episode.

  • @Arthur40TwoDent Hey Arthur, hey thats no problem. I can understand. Glad you liked the episode.

  • I hope Tennant doesnt come back. He left at the right time to give a new lease of life on the show. I also was sick of the wimpy way he used to say "sorry so sorry" to Aliens all the time. I tired of this Doctor since Season 3. Catherine Tate held it together in Season 4. But the 10th just got worse kissing everything in Site and gurning. It was not Davids Fault. After all he was given bad Scripts. I would like to have seen Moffat take over at the end of Journeys End with Matt.

  • Respectfully you love alot. I hate it. I love Matt. He did a good job. The comp: stupid; the action: not tense; the TARDIS: ugly; the story: poor and tired and old hat. Great music but too bad no action we can care about to go along with it. THe villains stand around and do nothing while long stretches of dialog go on and on. Poor. 4/10 and that onlly for Matt Smith.

  • @ridernotlook Thanks for your review.

  • I think i know what the theme is, and if it is what i think it is I AM SO EXCITED... And if there are cracks doesnt that mean that they can get into the parrallel universe where there is David :D Sooo DAVID MIGHT BE BACK!!!!!!

  • @vlogtheife Have to wait and see.

  • i got these on my psp if u want a coppy tell me

  • U should talk about sum red dead redemption Barry alot of people will like it

  • @adamfredrick16 Im very mixed about that game. it looks good but not sure at the moment about getting it.

  • Coooool Sooty, Sweep and Scampy puppets! Where did you get them? I would kill for those! I didn't watch the review as I thought you might have some complements to it. It was a terrible episode. As with all Steven Moffat stories it had major plot holes. To name one: Where the little girls and the dog in a coma? Also what annoyed me was how dim he's made the Dr., like when it takes forever for him to recognise her. Other examples of him being dim was in that vampire bikini girls sketch.

  • @Redhellmet Fair points raised. I was wondering about that dog if it was in a coma. Thanks for watching.

  • @Redhellmet I got the puppets from friends and family. They are hard to get hold of.

  • @Redhellmet

They explained that in the episode, that the people in the coma were thinking of their dog or daughters etc, I'm unaware if that can happen, but at least they explained why they were there.

  • @Redhellmet Ummm... if you listened to the dialogue, the dog and the girls made perfect sense. The creature created a psychic link to the DREAMS of the person. So, if the guy was dreaming and had his dog with him, the creature had a dog. If the woman was dreaming about her kids, the creature had kids. If amy was dreaming about the doctor, the creature had the doctor. If amy was dreaming about the creature, the creature looked like itself. That's how the whole thing was solved.

  • Excellent review :) I was really happy with the episode too!! Some people just dont get good actors :P I'm sooooo excited for Saturday!!!

  • @TheJimjam96 Im excited too. Thanks for watching.

  • @TheJimjam96 it's not about good actors, it's about bad writers.

  • Great review :D The storyline was good in terms of character development and though to be honest the monster felt a bit... tacked on, & was scariest when it was just an image in the corner of your eyes. I understand though, that they had a lot to accomplish. That thing about twenty minutes" I found rather cool - since it felt as if they were talking to US: "believe in THIS doctor, for twenty minutes, just twenty minutes."

  • @ScarabD Thanks for watching. Thanks for your interesting points.

  • lol

  • dude, you're a cock and you disgrace doctor who fans. FUCK YOU

  • @jaminwinter ??????what have u been inhaling and/or digesting?!?!?!?!?

  • @jaminwinter Please call the new doctor who fans. There's plenty to slag off about the new series, especially when compared to the original.

  • we saw the ep, y tell us the storytline lolol. otherwise ccccccccooooooooolllllll

  • @ss4706 Telling the storyline is part of the review haha. Thanks for watching.

  • @BarryAldridge o, sorry lol

  • I'm wearing that shirt right now too!

I am still waiting until I watch all the classics and all the previous episodes before watching any new Dr. Who :)

  • @ChateauOfADoubt Awesome Emily. I need to get back into watching the classic stories again. They are all good to watch accept a few haha.

  • Ah I need to watch Dr.Who again I used to watch it over 10 years ago and even had a few toys from that series lol

  • @ShiningWolf88 Awesome mate.

  • I didn't think that I would like Matt Smith as the Doctor because David Tennant was just brilliant. However I found myself really enjoying his preformance and cannot wait to see more!

  • @Steffateetee Hey thats cool, people dont like change so it is understandable why you had doubts about Matt Smith.

  • Like the review. I think the crack in the wall was a good idea. But what about the crack in the universe? Did the Doctor cause it. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

  • @stormgateproductions It could have something to do with the end of the series if it comes up.

  • I loved the way everyone knew Amy in the village - normally in past whos they wander around London and meet strangers, but here it was great when everyone knew Amy's kinda strangeness and otherness and also about her childish obsession with the raggedy doctor

  • @grantha Yeah it shows a difference maybe between people who live in a village and people who live in the city/London.

  • Is the entire episode 1 on utube, can only find parts 1/4, 5 wont open, what I've seen so far is really good, thanks for the review also

  • @anthonynewsome Im not sure mate. Thanks for watching.

  • @BarryAldridge no probs, thanks for the reply man, take care N keep rocking in the free world

  • @anthonynewsome it will be on the iplayer anyway(providing you live in the uk)

  • @daly154 hi I dont, pity the beeb wont make iplayer available in Europe, thanks anyways,

  • Great review, went right along with the story. Keep it up for the next episodes :)

  • @WolfsBane1992 Thanks mate.

  • i want tow atch this vid but I'm scared for spoilers, so I'm gunna come back to it. haha

  • @doctornoise Thats ok Bill.

  • I can't wait to start watching the new season! ^_^

  • @cherubicwindigo Your going to love the first episode.

  • Awesome review (: I absolutely love Matt Smith so far, think it's gonna be an amazing series! x

  • @AccioJellyBean Thanks Jocy. I think so too.

  • i agree with you; it was great. I thought the last series was a little slack so I was a little scheptical about how this would be, but it seems that it will be a fantastic series... well we'll see =D

  • @DeepFriedTokyo Lets hope so.

  • Great review Barry. I'd been excited about the new series mainly because of Stephen Moffat, he is such a good writer, most of my favourite episodes were written by him, 'Blink' being my favourite. 11th hour was brilliant, it exceeded my expectations. Matt Smith is a natural. The homage to some older episodes and older doctors near the end was nice. In the 'coming soon' bit, the Dalek with the British flag badge looked superb. I'm looking forward this new series and your reviews.

  • @Kie77 Thanks Kieran. Moffat is a fantastic writer. I loved the homage bits as well.

  • Matt Smith is as mysterious as Chistopher Eccleston, clever as David Tennent and as mad as Tom Baker. Perfect combo!

  • @sonicguru Oh yeah.

  • Matt Smith is as mysterious as Chistopher Eccleston, clever as David Tennent and as mad as Tom Baker. Perfect combo!

  • Matt Smith is as mysterious as Chistopher Eccleston, clever as David Tennent and as mad as Tom Baker. Perfect combo!

  • These and more can be found be turning on the transcribe audio feature.

"They usually is barry with his ruling against other hand people."

"but Tina, those are coming out of the issue."

"No one mentioned comedy is because they usually watch a record company which is based in Israel."

"Both other drugs in their love lucy not solely a demonstrative of a once high what the stock."

"but there was a lull by equality movement which I really didn't like about it because"

  • @jiklar Haha got to love that feature.

  • i didn't like it. nuff said.

  • @angelmist15 Hey thats your opinion, thanks for watching.

  • @BarryAldridge well I didn't like the episode. And I've got to admit, that I may just need getting used to the change of both doctor and companion- they've never done both at the same time before (well the ones starting with Christopher Eccleston anyway, I don't know about the really old ones). I just think Matt Smith is trying to hard to act like David Tennant. He should just be himself, unique and original. And yes, that''s my opinion.

  • @angelmist15 lololol

  • We don't get it until about three weeks from now. I stopped it about 2 minutes in for fear of spoiler info. I'll come back and watch when it begins here.

But I'm really glad to hear the new Doctor is up to the challenge!

  • @billtvmacon Cheers Bill, I should have said that spoilers are in the review haha.

  • NICE SHIRT!

  • @fictitiously Thanks.

  • I love him.

The man eats fish fingers with custard.

How can I not love him!?

    He's so random....

And at the end "I'm the Doctor, and basically, run."

    That was mega pwnage.

  • @MrNeeNaw I love it when he throws the plate out the door like a frizbee "and stay out"

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse I actually liked that bit as well.

  • @MrNeeNaw Yep that was so cool. He's great doing that.

  • YES, its was a great start to Doc 11

good review, I'll sub to you to tune in for further reviews.

  • @The8thDOCTOR Thanks mate. Doctor Who reviews will be every Sunday.

  • i finally got to watch the new Doctor Who Episode and have to say besides the new intro i loved it. Great review too Barry :)

  • @andrsdtz Yeah I didnt like the new intro, but it may grow on me. Thanks for watching Andrew.

  • @BarryAldridge yeah i hope so too. its not even the visuals, more the new remix of the theme which i guess I have to get used to

  • @andrsdtz The theme sounds a bit new, have to wait and see.

  • @instantmashup Thanks for agreeing Ed and thanks for the shoutout on your latest VEDA.

  • nice one barry the show seems pretty interesting this series.

  • @theblazingarrow Thanks Arron and it is interesting.

  • Hello. I'm not watching this because sadly I live in America and I'm going to try and avoid spoilers until April 17th when it airs in the U.S. but I clicked on your video because of your Pizza John Shirt. I love it.

DFTBA. I loverandomly finding fellow nerdfighters.

  • @LAshlieH Thanks I love the shirt as well. When the 17th comes, I think you will love it.

  • I loved Matt Smith... I liked that he still had a dorky side like David Tenant had with but it's still very different. He is super cute and ahh I love him already.

Also I'm really liking the new companion. I haven't much loved a companion since Rose but I really like amy so far so she might be one of my new favorite companion.

Also new Tardis = Gorgeous. Like holy it is beautiful ... also seems more up to date compared to the old one.

  • @WasItJustMe Matt Smith is great. Amy is a great companion I think could become a real fan favourite. The tardis I love it.

  • One question though: The TARDIS renewed herself and everything is fixed...but wouldn't that fix the the chameleon circuit too?

  • @Amiryfey Interesting question, will have to see.

  • OH but I didn't like the new sonic screwdriver, if it had still been blue he could have been forgiven). The other changes (TARDIS & music) were great.

  • @itiselizabeth I actually like the new sonic screwdriver but hey thats ok.

  • I think that that episode was a fantastic start to what looks like what will be a great series. The episode was so well balanced too. Your review is just right!

The "raggedy" bit just made me giggle!

  • @itiselizabeth Thanks for watching Elizabeth.

  • Wonderfully Spot-on review, mate! I love the new TARDIS, it has old elements from previous versions, yet futuristic.

  • @zottepark Oh yeah it has some influence from the older tardis in classic series.

  • matt smith was awesome, i knew id like him

  • @jammy41 He is great. I hope it continues.

  • *sigh* I think that Smith/Moffat is the best thing that's happened to the BBC since... ever.

  • @withalittlegrace Will wait and see, lets hope so.

  • Great review. I love the new Tardis too, which I was really wasn't expecting to, but it's just so streampunk and awesome.

  • @xperpetualmotion Oh yeah I agree Karen. The tardis looks fantastic.

  • I really liked the new doctor! Looking forward to your reviews!

  • @AppleMustang Thanks AppleMustang.

  • Amy kinda reminded me of my little niece so i found it really sad when she got her little suit case and sat waiting for the dr, who I knew was not coming back it reminded me of the girl in the fire place only this did end with them being reunited eventually

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse Yeah in a way it can be.

  • David Tennant was also a kinda unknown when first appeared hed been Casanova but thats all i can really remember seeing him in b4 dr who

  • @Chrisindapurplehouse I knew Casanova and heard a little about Tennant before Doctor Who.

  • I thought Matt Smith was awesome!!

I can't wait til next Saturday. I think the rest of series 5 is gonna be great! :D

  • @agirlnamedkala I think Series 5 is going to be awesome.

  • out of all 10 doctors (i haven't seen the new one yet) i think David Tennant is my favorite so far. He has left some pretty big shoes to fill and I hope Matt Smith does a good job becuase although I've never seen it--I'll bet Dr. Who fans can stir up trouble if they aren't happy with the way the show is going.

  • @tasteslikepaintnwood There are going to be fans that may not like Smith because hes the one who replaced Tennant which is sad.

  • I just watched the pilot episode an hour ago. it was great and I liked the new campanion. so pretty! right choice

  • @radtwelve Agreed.

  • I met Karen Gillian last night, shes from my hometown inverness!

  • @GordonMacNaughton Thats awesome mate.

  • Great review Barry, He defiantly lived up to David Tennent and Christopher E.

  • @jamfozz Thanks Fozz.

  • I'm banking this one, Barry. I'll give it a view after the new Who runs in the U.S.

  • @mickeleh I think you will like it Michael.

  • Nice shirt! :) -John

    still haven't seen the new doctor....but I can't wait.

  • @vlogbrothers It's awesome trust me =P

  • @vlogbrothers Thanks John haha. Matt Smith did a great job with his first episode.

  • I missed it cause we had people over -.-

Imma watch it on BBC iPlayer though

  • @DeepFriedTokyo Yeah defintely watch it.

  • @BarryAldridge Ooh I've watched it now; it's great!

  • @DeepFriedTokyo Glad you liked it.

  • Loved the 1st episode. Matt Smith was great as was the girl that played Amy. I'm so impressed with it all x

  • @CheekTV Agree with you Gary.

  • I really enjoyed the episode, Matt's character is at a strange place in this episode as was David's on the Christmas special because of the regeneration. We need to see a few episodes in to see him get comfortable inside the character. It is such a weird show!!!

  • @crabstickz Indeed it can go into many different directions the show so yeah we will have to wait and see.

  • I couldn't agree with you more! It was an awesome opening episode and I think Matt Smith is going to be great :D

  • @CosmicScaleFactor I think so too.

  • @CosmicScaleFactor I think so too.

  • Doctor Who was amazing last night, I loved it!

  • @NotJustRyan Glad you agree.

  • Great review. One of the things I liked the most was there were a few references to other Doctors. His "Trust me, I'm the Doctor" felt a lot like Jon Pertwee, and there was of course the "Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey" line. Overall, a great episode :)

  • @makcheekan There maybe some elements from the Pertwee and yeah that line was put in.

  • Great review :)

If you liked Coupling and Moffat's writing in "Who" you should check out "Press Gang" on dvd, by Stephen Moffat. Very slick and imaginitive writing, surprising plot twists that keep you guessing, and uses time a lot (not time travel as such but very much "wibbly wobbly").

  • @SummerBayJournal I need to check out Press Gang.
