  • @Icebloo I am sorry you are wrong. You have it backwards. Squats are meant for the hamstring and the gluts. You need to go below your knees in order to engage those muscles. As I already commented. You must squat as if you are sitting on a low chair. If you don't go below your knees you are not hitting those two muscle groups. We used do squats and not go below the knees. The knees were very sore, when i started to go lower way better and the muscles got a way better work out.

  • @wiggs4321 This way of doing squats is very old fashioned - now we know how badly this method damages your knees - a REAL professional will tell you to NEVER let your hips go below your waist. I have been doing squats for years and I have a great ass which gets compliments whenever I go out. You do not need to go so deep on your squats - it's a myth. However, if you think you know better then you keep going & I promise you that you will need a knee replacement later in life.

    Mostly quads. You might feel it in your calves a little as well. But this is mainly a quad workout.

    The best exercise to do for quads AND hamstrings are "lunges" though. Look them up. :)

  • I do a 100 per day. 50 times then I do a 10 second rest (drink water) then i do 50 again and after the squats, I do 20 lunges each leg. I know it's not alot but I'm a beginner! But hopefully I will see more slim legs and slim butt in a couple of months! :]

    You won't lose fat doing this exercise, no matter how much reps you do. These exercises will even make your legs look bigger and "fatter" if you dont lose the fat covering them.

    If you want a slim and firm butt, do some cardio for at least 20 minutes a day, not less. You can then also train your legs by jogging or brisk walking for example.

  • @JXJ1326 yup arnold use to do squats before chest exercises to open the chest up because when you do squats it is a deep breathing exercise so it warms up the chest for their exercises after the squats

  • this is wrong way to do squats if you do too many squats in this manner you will destroy your knees. Your hips must go below your knees to get your hamstrings engaged.

  • @wiggs4321 Your hips should NEVER go below the knees. You are giving out incorrect information. The video is correct. If your hips go below your knees then you will destroy your knees - it's puts way too much pressure on them and your lower back.

I cant see why that dumbass has got 66 "thumbs up" I did this exercise first in 1975 and back then i saw so many go RIGHT down below knee level and BOUNCE at the bottom.(which is the common BAD habit to give momentum)...and with a heavy weight on their back too. They are cripples now! The knees open up at a butt level lower than parallel to the floor and that gives arthritis in later yrs.

  • @sweetzombie2 depends on what your goals are..for toning you would do any where from 3-4 sets of 12-15 reps with little weight or body weight 3 times a week, if you want to add muscle you would try using 3-4 sets of lower reps 6-12(no more) using a heavy enough weight where you would fail on your last rep for no more than twice a week to ensure your muscles had enough time to recover..hope this helpss
