  • fuckin sick.

  • whos the the bass player ner nice

  • @teetpiece The Bass player is a Guy named Vicente Archer. I seen them live in jacksonville, this past weekend and the dude is amazing on bass.

  • As a fellow keyboardist, I bow to the living legend Robert Glasper. The chemistry with his band mates is lovely. And your right chicooceano.. Jamire is amazing.

  • beautiful drumming.

  • I just love the sound of a Rhodes/Wurlizter playing smooth voice-led chords:D

  • I really wish I was that badass.

  • @DomPusey true dat

  • I've been playing GT5 for days now and the Bridgestone banner makes this all seem like a conspiracy.

  • brilliant.

  • just saw him last week in Vilnius Mama jazz festival.. it was absolute awsome

  • Robert Glasper played "Maiden Voyage" before Radiohead's song "Everything in its right place", is the begining of the video, he was literaly playing with the Rodhes.

The song its more than 10 min. so I edited to fit on the youtube.

This band is amazing, Jamire is the best!!!!!

    Thank you all.

    See you

  • @chicooceano NO. That is false. "Glasper has said that his arrangement of the Hancock tune was inspired by the Radiohead song “Everything in Its Right Place.” "

  • @CreativeFilmMaker This videos was posted when Youtube allows only 10min. video so I cut the first part that he is playing a song in the Rhodes, maybe Mayden Voyage to fit in the 10 minutes max lengh. The set list was given by Robert when he played here in São Paulo, so that is the name of the song. But thanks for the information.

  • @chicooceano and @CreativeFilmMaker He´s simply playing the melody of "Maiden Voyage" on that Radiohead´s tune, it´s been always like this when he plays it.

  • @CreativeFilmMaker I think he was using the word "before" to indicate the set list order, not who created the song first.

  • @CreativeFilmMaker This man knows what's up. He's putting the melody of Maidon Voyage over the groove/chord changes of the Radiohead tune. Awesome shit

  • @chicooceano verify your account to upload larger videos ;)

  • this is awesome.

  • very nice

  • Is he ever coming to Seattle???

  • @Cratcliffemusic he's coming to the east coast this month!!!!!!

  • @Cratcliffemusic Earshot Jazz Festival in October

  • @Cratcliffemusic Yeah, I saw him at the Triple Door about 3 weeks ago as a part of Earshot Jazz Festival.

  • this strongly reminds me of a track from Esbjorn Svensson's 'Seven days of falling'... inspired? tribute?

  • @sjoerdkulsdom i dont know the song you talkin about....maybe...but the riff he's playing is form radiohead's song "everything in its right place" he mixes it with the a section of the jazz classic "maiden voyage" and some ideas of his own and then he plays the b section of "everything..."...or something like that...:P :))

  • @sjoerdkulsdom No maiden voyage is one of hancocks tune and everything in its right place is one of radioheads. But the association piano drum and bass recalls EST a bit maybe thats why its sounds similar ish

  • Musica trankila para la mañana!!!!!

    jajajajajajaja

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you for thiiiiiiiiiiis!

  • @5000Flores lol he has his snare muted with a towel. I do the same thing.. it gives it more of a flat/dry sound... there is a reason for it.

  • jeez i almost love this as much as the original. Not quite, but this is awesome, love the jazz feel and change in note.

  • @ (Merstheman) Yeah I remember you callin out ...so I started playin some neat little circles on the Rhodes and on into Maiden...

    Peace luv 'n' hair grease

    Bobby

    Aiiiiight...

  • HA I was there that day. This was the last song in the set. He asked the audience "any requests" and I shouted "PLAY THE RHODES!!!" and he went into this.

Eu tava la! Eu berrei pra ele tocar o Rhodes quando ele pediu pra plateia dar ideias do que tocar...ahahah animal

    bobby

  • @drumsandivory i think he may be using a Fender Rhodes.

  • Robert Glasper is REMARKABLY talented. But, I am not a musician. Looking at the comments, there are a few musicians in this thread. So here's my question: is Robert Glasper in the same conversation with 1.) George Duke / Herbie Hancock / Marcus Miller (different instrument) / Kevin Eubanks / Bradford Marsaillies ??????????

  • I wouldn't put Glasper on the same level as Legends you mentioned, simply because they have been playing for such a long time, but Glasper GOT IT and in the future he would fit right in.

  • @cecryerjr I wouldn't put marcus miller in there...

  • Why does Jamire (the drummer) have a towel laying over his snare??? Does anyone know??

  • it's to muffle the snare... to give him the sound he wants.

  • @dtothathird for a different sound

  • I figure he does that because he likes a dry snare sound. The towel just reduces overtones and overall volume.

  • to muffle....

  • Rob, you a young lion in modern jazz who understands the genius of both Mr. Monk and Mr. Yancey and merge all that appreciation and knowledge into a cohesive work that displays your own rising genius.

I really hopes that you makes it on down to Tokyo some time soon.

    Peace 'n' Stay blessed.
