I watched in admiration as those elderly men - 80 plus paraded and then STOOD in the pouring rain whilst our dear prime minister and younger dignatories stood in the nice dry area. They did not do the fighting for our country !!!! There will be many elderly men today feeling the ill effects of their parade. My father fought and if he had been alive now and attended I would have been very concerned.
My best friend's grandpa was in d-day, and when he was getting off his boat/tank to get to the beach, his boat/tank blew up and he got shrap in his head and was unconious, but then someone saved him and dragged him to shore. He is still alive today and healthy
Bush further stated in June 1992 to Sarah McClendon the Grandam of the Washington White House Press Corps when she asked Bush what will the people do if they ever find out the truth about Iraq-gate and Iran-Contra? George H W Bush Replied: Sarah, If the people were to ever find out what we have done, we would be chased down the streets and lynched.
Governments are only there for Us to Rob, Loot and Pillage.--President George H. W. Bush
The Governments at the time took part in the war because the germans were cutting in on their control. However these brave men fought because they wanted to save the world and the people in it. Conclusive proof that there is more good in the world than evil.
Great Tribute - My Dad was D Day + 6 hours, and Korea, and Vietnam. The scars he bears remind us Freedom isn't free. All Gave Some, Some Gave All. I was honored to follow in the legacy of all adult male members of my family have worn a uniform in service to this great Country.
The sad truth is both sides faced extreme fear. More so to the Ally invaders then the Germans. The sight must have been shocking to the German soldiers that day. Both sides had a job to do and they did there best. Nor should we forget who on both sides died that day. As potchieng said before, may god be with them all. They where strong, brave, and true to there country, they where soldiers. God bless them all, for there bravery knows no bounds.
i hate war, i hate death, but in this case i think these men fought for freedom, they fought for their families, for their country, and for the world...
Both my grandpas were in D-Day, one British and one American. My grandma was a Russian soldier, and the other served with the French Resistance. Its always amazing to hear their stories, and somewhat funny they ended up all meeting during the last days of the war near Berlin. Im forever grateful to each of them for their actions against a brainwashed Nazi empire, and everyone else that served by them.
You are kind of correct. You guys can't forget about America's first generation! They fought in the Revolutionary War, and that's how America got it's freedom in the first place. Now don't get me wrong, I do think that the generation that went through the Great Depression and WW2, that they are one of the "Greatest" Generations in American history
i went to the british and american war cemeteries for the 63rd anniversary of D-DAY and i nearly cried at the sight of the graves of the heroes that died for the greater good and for their country.
TO THE GREATEST GENERATION THAT EVER LIVED, AMERICAN, BRITISH AND CANADIAN.
its too bad this current generation doesnt fight like ww2 era, we would have osama and ANYONE else who messed with us by THE BALLS !!! this is truly our greatest generation, thank you.
I was a Soldier in the 1ID, I had the honor of being there for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day as part of the firing detail, hearing their stories and meeting the old Vets was one of the greatest thing in my life.
Right now 63 years ago Howards boys fought at Pegasus bridge. I will think of them and remember them as heroes as I will remember all of the soldiers who fought that day 63 years ago!
Thank you so much. To those that have served, who are serving and who will serve. My gratitude knows no bounds..my heart is full. My father's generation still cries those tears..I am honored he is my father. Semper Fi.
Thank you for your sacrifice against tyranny and opression well my great grandfather fought in World War 1, my grandfather fought at the tail end of World War 2, and my dad almost went to Vietnam so I will cary on my families milirtay tradition.
These soldiers are the reason I am here today. These men are true Heroes, American, British, Canadian, all of them. And I thank everyone last one of them for their sacrifice and their bravery.
Damn this vid makes me choke up. My Gparents are WW2 era, EVERY PERSON here should watch this. Our complete WAY OF LIFE as we know it 2day was paved by the men/women of WW2. And every liberal 2 day should really rethink about terroism, its 1 thing to dissent but to literally take the enemys side is another. THANK YOU ALL WW2 VETS!!!!
You're missing the point, oafs. The real people in this collage deserve the respect; but this is a mish-mash of distorted history made worse by the inclusion of fiction. Do some reading, boys. Don't learn your history from the movies.
Irritating Hollywood bullsh-- interspersed with the real people who did it, not just Americans, for the record. Just some more of how America won the war so it could screw it up in its own time. Can we get rid of this romantic Tom Hanks crap please? My two dead uncles (both killed in Normandy) find it annoying.
Excellant video. I enjoyed the way you transitioned between the still shots and video. Touching and sincere. I recently made one myself very similar. I have sent it to you. Let me know if you like it.

WW2 Deads have no country: they are just poor people sadly died.
I guess that most of German soldiers was no worse people than allies one: they were just men hoping to get back to their family.
But bless EVERY ally soldier who fought in ww2: we owe them our lives. Simply we owe that. With no discussion.
