This was a closed beta video, he used a key emulations software and re-mapped his keys. It was called 'glove' something and he just converted a midi to the key mappings, thats why it doesn't sound quite right at certain parts.

This is a great version of this song, from the post date I would say it is him playing live, but don't be fooled in the future, it is very easy to record vid of toon playing live, and add a ABC recorded audio track to the video to make u look like u are playing live.

Actually, it isn't easy to pass off a pre-recorded ABC version as a live one. Live performances have filled in notes, recorded ones have empty notes. The LOTRO client detects which one it is and alters the graphics of the notes accordingly.

@Knapweed I know all about the hollow notes and solid note...:) But the vids I make of music in the game, I record a audio version of my toons playing it first, because I don't get as much if any lag and jitters in the song. Then I record a video of my toons playing song, using MS Movie Maker I edit the two together. It would be no trouble at all to record a video of my toon while playing "live" and have the solid notes, then dub-in the audio track that was pre-recorded

Beautiful. I quit LOTRO about a month after release too.. I knew music macroing was going to be implemented and that really made the game a lot less enjoyable for me :(. I remember hearing this song around Combe and Bree a lot. I'm not sure if it was you or someone else, but this song was probably the most well composed in beta. I was always around town playing Lost Woods or that Mario song :P.

If I recall, a minstrel can make a manual that can teach another class certain instruments and I think some other classes or races have the ability to learn some instruments above some level anyway, but someone else can respond to my bad memory with the facts lol.

there is a page called lotro-music there u can download abc files and then put it in folder on my documents lord of the rings online music there u have it go on lotro type /music then /play and the files name and there u go dust in the wind

Actually, I'm certain that this video was made back during the beta before the system you're describing was even around.

I still don't know if it's him playing, but just saying, the method you explained was not possible when this vid was shot.

They didn't have those files when the beta was out so it probably was him playing it...unless of course they were testing the song files which in that case it would have been the system he is talking about although I still doubt that it was those song files considering that it was in the beta that the vid was filmed.

This was filmed during early closed beta, there were no ABC files for a long time in fact I have quit playing LOTRO about a month after release and haven't returned. I have never even experimented with the ABC system yet at all, nor do I know exactly how it works.

At the moment LOTRO is offering a free 7 day trial of the game...so you can try it out for yourself to see if you really want it...I played it for the 7 days and even though I absolutely love everything about lord of the rings...the game didn't do it for me I really didn't like it...the world graphics are beautiful as well as the music but I just didn't like it enough...right now I switched back to playing Rappelz...which I really enjoy. But you decide what you want to play and enjoy =)

wow! nice song...the lotr atmosphere is fantastic. WoW was better, but with all the commotion of the second expansion, more people will stop playing it. as sadly as it is, WoW will go down in, let's say, 3-4 years or even earlier. I'm gonna try lotro 2 see what's it's all about.
