thanks! for the y-intercept, since, for instance y=x+1, you're supposed to graph it like (0,1) right? i kept putting it as (1,0). this helped a lot!

You can do anything you want to a linear equation as long as you do it to BOTH sides of the equal sign.

So x - y = -2 can be dealth with as follows :

1. Subtract -x from both sides to give

(x - y) - x = (-2) - x

-y = -2 - x

2. Multiply both sides by -1 to give

(-y) * -1 = (-2 -x) * -1

y = 2 + x

or y = x + 2.

The equation is now in a form you're familiar with.
