How does gear work for stuctured pvp? You make a seperate character who has the best gear but what about your weapons? Are there weapons with different stats in the game or do they just look different? Say I wanted to use a sword, would it be possible to find a axe or mace with better stats and then be forced to switch?
can you level up in PvP as in the 5v5 conquest games? since you get sidekicked up to 80 and get all the gear so i was wondering if u get a chunk of exp for your original level after the game?
I hope structured PVP will server vs server as I can't see how it would work otherwise as there are no opposing factions like WoW etc. It would be great as well if they balanced the servers etc as you don't have 1 server dominating another. Maybe a table that balances similar skilled servers against each other. Skill levels and player numbers could then be matched more easily and allow for more competitive pvp

@TheMikaellol Well the arena mode PVP such as Hot-join-able PVP or Tornament mode PVP its just skill, but for World PVP you can get gear and level up and never have to touch PVE.

@JustBallax World pvp is a giant map, i think 10% of actual game map but not too sure on that. Anyways its an open area where 3 servers face each other for a period of 2 weeks. Sort of like wintergrasp in wow, but on a huge scale. So you and your other 4 buddies can go off and do your own thing, as there will probably be multiple objectives/capture points.

World PvP sounds like it'll be as epic as Eve Online battles, perhaps not as great as 1k vs 1k, but with 200 vs 200 vs 200, it'll have the most epic MMORPG battles in history, and on the ground, better then that of what Dust 514 hopes to achieve, and on a scale 100x that of Warhammer Online... It'll make Rift and WoW look like a joke... If only SWTOR was on one server and had galaxy PvP, then we'd have an epic game beyond comparison :P.
One question, would you be able to take the gear you get from world PVP and use it back in PVE? I think I heard you can but can't seem to get a strait yes or no.
In those 7years of playing mmos, (no, I didn't played wow lol) while playing I realized that PVP and PVE shouldn't be 2in1. Say what you want, but in my opinion separate pvp from pve is just geniuos. I wont comment its advantages and why I mean that. You'll see what arenanet and I mean when GW2 will be released. ;>

GW2 pvp will be the best an mmorpg could give. The system is perfect : no dps no healer no tank, just pure skill and reaction time. NOTHING to do with wow, it's much better.

There are large castles and towns in the pvp world. It's big enough for 3 servers worth of people to fight over. It's persistent for 2 weeks so it's hardly a battleground.
It's a lot more like planetside (a pvp mmo with 3 factions fought over multiple capturable bases of various sizes across the landscape similar to gw2 mists)

GW2 will have good pvp since the game is built around it like gw1 was. Skill will matter. I can't tell you how to have fun - I can say that you'll get chances to gank people even in the Mists (you can level there)
again, Guild Wars 2 mists pvp include large cities, castles and smaller areas. People will probably be crafting there too. The truth comes out that you want to kill the defenceless. I did all that stuff when I played wow, I was in a feared pvp guild. It's not real pvp
1. no in structured your character is maxed to max level but your real character that you play gets exp from it and rewards if you play tournament mode (pre-made)
2. no spell what so ever is a guarantee hit, if someone times it right to dodge, move, hide etc it will not get them thats why there is more survivability and skill involved in the game

I used to play Guild Wars when it was brand new for a while, and I'm really psyched for GW2, but me and my friends are really into PvP and competative play. When we make our characters do we select a pvp server and then we instantly become highest lvl and with all spells, skills etc and being able to try out all classes?.... I do remember something similar to GW: Prophecies... Also.. will there be a rating system? ;)

I've spent my last two days scouting all information and reading up on all skills/spells on all classes announced xD I think warrior sounds and looks really interesting, I like chasing people in combat. From what I've gathered there wont be pure pvp servers but normal servers but if you're like lvl 1 or anything when you join pvp you get boosted to 80 with the best gear avalaible. Only the skills should determine who wins. Not gear, wich is really good! :)

The last year i've always stuck to my in game name Selindra, wich ofc is a female name, don't know I really love that name. So probally a Sylvari or human, will def try our charr male before. Sylvari male looks like a plant, while female look pretty nice. Human male also look better than expected, didn't like those big stereotypes back in gw1.

@blackberries69 There is no player limit in guildwars and its server vs server...We are talking massive battles, and since you actually earn exp when killing players you can literally level through pvp alone.
About WG in wow...it was like...40vs40 and restricted to server players only and had too much emphasis on vehicles.I found it boring to be honest.
@syntaxed2 the whole point of world pvp, is not to create a map in which people will pvp. it is just that.. WORLD pvp. anyone in the world can enter and leave as they pass through the specific map. when companies create special zones to queue into, it becomes a BATTLEGROUND "world" pvp, and it isnt really world pvp if you think about it. that's why my hope for MMOs is gone. everyone copies BGs nowadays, even SW:TOR, but they call it "war zones".

@HeroicFlamingo You make a character like in an MMO and then once you're out of the tutorial area you can take that character in structured PvP and be boosted to max, with all the skills, traits & weapons you need. From there you can earn a PvP currency (forgot what it's called), based on your performance and you can use it to buy better looking armor & weapon skins.

@HeroicFlamingo Cool, played a game like that before, pwi...was pretty horrible when you spent a month saving up for a weapon then lost it in a 2 minute fight against 6 other people.
@DarkDain Perfect World International, what I meant by 6 other players was a squad from some powerful guild teaming up on you when you're trying to sell something at the merchant or help a friend kill a boss.
@TheLewtz Im not sure about that because he seems to be healed by 300 even when hes not changing attunement? Maybe it is some sort of effect on him that he is healed whenver he uses a spell? :) sorry i couldnt give you a proper answer
@HeroicFlamingo I actualy just watched some of your videos after checking this one out and I reallly like your displays to get us ready for the new game.
My main dislike is the whole "gunz online" feel and more or less damage within the thousands and beefed up health. I dont mind fast paced at all but gw1 was a near perfect balance (I stretch that aswell) of fast and slow. Hoping this is beta maybe and it will change will see.

If you can get passed the beefed up damage and health it will be like GW1 with better graphics, much better flowing combat and plenty of good game types :) Also the way you can choose what game you want to enter by map, number of players and stuff should be good :) And dont forget, no 'everyone resign because we havnt got a healer and they have'
@MrOlzing Structured PvP is more just for competitive play, your reward is raising your player ranking :) I dont know of any material rewards as of yet :) But in world pvp you can be rewarded with better loot, money and exp :)
@MrOlzing Besides of what HeroicFlamingo said, you can unlock cosmetical armor (with the same stats as everyone but better looking). I'm not sure about titles, tho.
@Syeal7 Nope, because structured pvp is supposed to be fair and competitive, imagine a level 10 v a level 80 XD but if your looking for fun pvp where you can level up and get new gear then world pvp is for you :)
@Syeal7 Not at all, it just means people will have to (gasp!) PLAY GOOD to win a game. GW2 PvP is about skill, no more douches with top gear face rolling everyone else. It's balls to the wall, strategy fighting, it's GW2.
@HeroicFlamingo I hope there will be some kind of structured pvp (arenas) which are gear based. You win if you have better armor. The one spent with the most time in their char has a higher chance to win. I like that more that every newcomer gets instant best armor and top lvl.
Don't compare GW2 to COD. THats just embarrassing, and you don't create a pve/pvp character, just a character that can scale

@ChingXyooj Vanilla world of warcraft had the best pvp, i'll be buying guild wars 2 though, playing it untill someone realsies people want world pvp not structured.

@plasticbudgie absolutely agree mate, been playing wow from vanilla till wotlk and i must admit open world pvp in vanilla and BC was extremely good. Totally miss the old days where me and mates would go raid tarren mill and x roads.

Really good and informative videos, I subbed! :)
I used to play Guild Wars when it was brand new for a while, and I'm really psyched for GW2, but me and my friends are really into PvP and competative play. When we make our characters do we select a pvp server and then we instantly become highest lvl and with all spells, skills etc and being able to try out all classes?.... I do remember something similar to GW: Prophecies... Also.. will there be a rating system? ;)

@Hyland0r Cheers man :) Im psyched to :D And im not completely sure about how making pvp chracters works but im sure it will be simple and yhe you will start at level 80 with all the best stuff :) And yes, there will be a rating system for taking part in PvP :) Im sorry i could have been of more help but structured PvP is not my strong point :)

@HeroicFlamingo Cheers to you too.. I've spent my last two days scouting all information and reading up on all skills/spells on all classes announced xD I think warrior sounds and looks really interesting, I like chasing people in combat. From what I've gathered there wont be pure pvp servers but normal servers but if you're like lvl 1 or anything when you join pvp you get boosted to 80 with the best gear avalaible. Only the skills should determine who wins. Not gear, wich is really good! :)

@HeroicFlamingo Yeah great! I can't wait... want beta now :) I am also thrileld about your own house and place in the town where you can invite people etc... I thought many years ago GW 1 was totally magic, the world and nature was so excited... this looks even more exciting. Hope we can be on the same server xD I'd probally want to join a major one... but that wont be easy to predict.

@HeroicFlamingo Yes you can say I am :D and most of my irl friends too, but they're still living in the wow curse, sadly. The last year i've always stuck to my in game name Selindra, wich ofc is a female name, don't know I really love that name. So probally a Sylvari or human, will def try our charr male before. Sylvari male looks like a plant, while female look pretty nice. Human male also look better than expected, didn't like those big stereotypes back in gw1.

@blackberries69 There is no player limit in guildwars and its server vs server...We are talking massive battles, and since you actually earn exp when killing players you can literally level through pvp alone.
About WG in wow...it was like...40vs40 and restricted to server players only and had too much emphasis on vehicles.I found it boring to be honest.

@syntaxed2 the whole point of world pvp, is not to create a map in which people will pvp. it is just that.. WORLD pvp. anyone in the world can enter and leave as they pass through the specific map. when companies create special zones to queue into, it becomes a BATTLEGROUND "world" pvp, and it isnt really world pvp if you think about it. that's why my hope for MMOs is gone. everyone copies BGs nowadays, even SW:TOR, but they call it "war zones".

@HeroicFlamingo You make a character like in an MMO and then once you're out of the tutorial area you can take that character in structured PvP and be boosted to max, with all the skills, traits & weapons you need. From there you can earn a PvP currency (forgot what it's called), based on your performance and you can use it to buy better looking armor & weapon skins.

@Master10k2 You aare wrong!!! 1 Charracter is able to play Both things, only that PvE and PvP arent in the same "World" it doesnt depend on what is happening in the PvE "World" but a player can do both with same Charracter. Its a game for fun, they arent gonna risk it in this. Keep on trolling _RWJ

@fvb7 No no :) Sorry man i didnt make that clear enough. Players will get loot from killing the npc's and maybe from other players although i cant confirm that but i can say that if they did it wouldnt be there actually equipment :)

@HeroicFlamingo I actualy just watched some of your videos after checking this one out and I reallly like your displays to get us ready for the new game.
My main dislike is the whole "gunz online" feel and more or less damage within the thousands and beefed up health. I dont mind fast paced at all but gw1 was a near perfect balance (I stretch that aswell) of fast and slow. Hoping this is beta maybe and it will change will see.

If you can get passed the beefed up damage and health it will be like GW1 with better graphics, much better flowing combat and plenty of good game types :) Also the way you can choose what game you want to enter by map, number of players and stuff should be good :) And dont forget, no 'everyone resign because we havnt got a healer and they have'

@MrOlzing Structured PvP is more just for competitive play, your reward is raising your player ranking :) I dont know of any material rewards as of yet :) But in world pvp you can be rewarded with better loot, money and exp :)

@MrOlzing Besides of what HeroicFlamingo said, you can unlock cosmetical armor (with the same stats as everyone but better looking). I'm not sure about titles, tho.

@Syeal7 Nope, because structured pvp is supposed to be fair and competitive, imagine a level 10 v a level 80 XD but if your looking for fun pvp where you can level up and get new gear then world pvp is for you :)

@Syeal7 Not at all, it just means people will have to (gasp!) PLAY GOOD to win a game. GW2 PvP is about skill, no more douches with top gear face rolling everyone else. It's balls to the wall, strategy fighting, it's GW2.

@HeroicFlamingo I hope there will be some kind of structured pvp (arenas) which are gear based. You win if you have better armor. The one spent with the most time in their char has a higher chance to win. I like that more that every newcomer gets instant best armor and top lvl.
