  • You're great Anna! I've dabbled a bit with glowsticks. I especially like to do it out camping. I came across your video the other day an it has motivated me to spend more time practicing. Thanks for that. Keep up the good work. You're very talented and fun to watch.

  • hi im tryna learn how to glowstick for school i was wondering if you could make me some tutorial videos on the basics that would be great! can you get back at me asap? cause i needa do the performance sometime next month thanks! and your glowsticking is dope

  • You should order your glowsticks from emazinglights and use my promo code BP75. The more sales they get with glow sticks the more colors they may get and construct.

  • I have a question. Will you marry me?

  • hey where do u get ur sticks from?? =]

  • hey your really good

  • My question: *gets on a knee* marry me?

  • IIn a lot of your videos you do some sort of... I dunno what to call it, but it looks like you're pretending to be a chicken while spinning around. Whats that called?

  • Helps so much! Thank you :D

  • you should totally be using flowtoys! they make the visual aspect of the spinning soo much better! also they're waaay better for the environment (rechargeable batteries) than all those disposable glow sticks (tho they are so much fun :) )

  • huuuuuge question! I wanna order some glowsticks, and it d be really helpfull to know the difference between regulars and premiun. Do the premiums glow more intensely, or just for a longer time??

  • How did you learn? :o

Going to my first few raves EVER in January next year (furry raves :3) and I want to learn how to string :3

  • Where do you get 45" flats? Silk or regular shoelace?

  • Can I ask a really stupid question? Where do you get your glowsticks? It seems like it would get expensive after awhile if you like, practiced every day. Do you have a specific type or size that you prefer?

  • Anna, youve inspired me to resume glowstringing! I used to do it a couple years ago, but I stopped because I would the only person doing it! Plus, nobody would care to watch the amazingly epic light show. I would do orbitals, figure 8s, and all sorts of customized tricks! I hope I get a chance to meet you. Ive been a huge fan for awhile now. I love your style. Youve gotta come to a rave with me. We'll do dual glowstringing. Should be fun. ;) leave a comment on my page if you wanna hit up a party

  • PLEASE TELL ME YOUR GOING TO EDC 2011 IN VEGAS THIS WEEK!!! IF YOU ARE I CANT WAIT AND HOPE TO SEE YOU!!! U ROCK!!!

  • @yleitner i was there!! it was awesome! going to nocturnal too :)

  • Twas helpful. Thankyou darling :)

  • Hello Anna, I wanted to ask you something.

I recently got into this, I just got my glowsticks today.

So I started with the 2 beat weave, and basics.

But I saw your videos, and other beginner's ones, and when they spin the glowstick, it looks like the let's say "wave" cuts for moments, like it was all technological. I know the explanation isn't clear, but what I mean is like, when you spin, it "cuts". My spins just go fluid and boring. /:

  • @Destrolocklols

    I think it's because they're recording it. :]

  • :XD first i saw this at homepage youtube :P then i thought "What the heck are strings? is it something like a bh?" and then i've start watching this. and then O.O! STRING ARE THAT [uhh... stretch-able ropes?]" :XD :P

  • do the plastic pieces of the glowsticks ever break where ur thread the sting through?

  • lol and i just noticed you tie your strings just like the double loop nylon straps fit lol damn i wish i would have knew to tie like that when i was using strings. sigh lack of internet can be lame

  • i learned on strings i found it to be a bitch!! lol now i use some actual cords with adjustsable nylon straps, coli cord, a ball bearing linking claspthat allows the object to rotate seperately from the cord makes so many tricks easier, they also have metal quick links to attach different objects, look for those if you got the cash, but then again since i learned on shoe strings i felt pro when i upgraded so maybe starting budget status is the way to go :)

  • shoelaces i presume? and if not, would shoelaces work?

  • Hey thanks

  • As a total beginner Seems to me best way is figure what string length you need to go to for types of moves you do. Key is as Anna shows here, when you are spinning in to a hold grip you need to go fingers wide, as it comes in with loose strings, because once it's a tight wrap, you are just waiting and sort of Trapped?, plus wide means it spins in faster, since it's going around a larger circumference orbit. That's what I'm getting at least. It's all circles around fingers, arms, strings, body.

  • Very nice tutorial, thanks. Long live Gygax.

  • Anna i dont know if you remember me but i asked you to make a vid were you talked and so now i say thank you.

  • something else that can help is when ur doing a shotgun wrap have it wrap around ur thumb as well cuz then u can spread out ur hand even more :)

    ps make moar videos!!!!!

  • Shoe stings -.-

  • @HeyItsZyna Nothings wrong what that...?

  • Hey Anna, i need your help with this... I have been into the rave scene a longggg time & have gotten amazing lightshows, i can do gloves but not glowstick poi... I just recently bought a bunch & am just barely learning.... Do you have any advice? I'm so confused, i tried everything you said but it's soooooo difficult for me... :( I'm not really sure how to move about my hands to do tricks without wacking myself lol..

  • @modafuckingyo

The best advice I can give you for not wacking yourself, is to study plane control. Plane control is soo important in spinning. I started spinning and didn't really invest in learning what plane control actually is. Search for Barnzee1's video on this. This grip works for me, because I'd rather have my glowsticks on the outside of my hand rather than between my index finger and thumb. The only time I switch is when I'm doing buzzsaws.

  • @modafuckingyo Try using socks to practice. It's not really good for doing wraps but it hurts a lot less.

    :P

  • @modafuckingyo go to playpoi.com great tutorials there for beginners...like anna said... def learn plane control and learn your front and back planes...

  • everything you said helped me!! :)

    LEVEL UP!! ^1

  • @DarkTaintedSorrows

Awesome, can't wait till you prestige!

    haha

  • @schlosser90 That's interesting. I've never seen anyone put their strings between their index and middle fingers. I just tried it, and I can't control them very well that way. I always use my index and thumb. When I watch your videos though, I'm surprised at how effortless it is for you. Good show.

  • @XenoGlow I must agree, i have absolutely no control at all durung the strings outside, i have to use my thumb and pointing finger ( index finger? language fail :p )

I'm surprised you doing it so well Anna, that's really awesome.

  • Im a fire poi spinner so im not to up on all the glowsticking stuff but im just curious why i dont see flow-lights used more often...why still use 1 time use glowsticks? this is a serious question, i promise im not trollin. hopefully you respond.

  • @itTAKESaWOLF

I love flowlights, but there is nothing quite like a glowstick. The weight of it is very important-flow lights are heavy and make it a bit difficult for quick wraps, and hurt quite a bit more if you mess up. Glowsticks are a bit softer of a plastic and considerably lighter. :P

  • ooh, sorry... a more important question.. Strings don't have any type of elastic caracteristics?

  • @dallatorretdu

Flat strings do not, round strings do have a bit of elasticity.

  • really tank you! This will help me

i'm trying to make an LED version because i wanna try different effects.

i'm thinking abouth power supply... maybe little battery can be good.

my prototype without batteries weght less than a 6 inch lightstick but i must have power cables...

i've got a question: if the lightstick is a bit heavier (like a single AAA battery) is a big handycap?

  • @dallatorretdu

Check out SyphonKiller's videos. He seems to be creating a new type of led glowstick. The heavier the stick the easier it is for poi type moves, a little more of a challenge for being quick and swift with wraps. It depends on how you handle the strings :D

  • @schlosser90 tank you really much Anna for your help :) i done 2 Led glowsticks using some immagination and they work pretty well... if you have some time to spent and of course if you want try to check my latest video out!

mine uses recargeable integrated batteries, so they cannot fall off the body but i want to improve them... And of course i need better strings, mine are a bit short and when i tie them like you i must cut-out the ring finger and the pinkie.

    tank you Bye bye!

  • What length of stick do you use?

  • @Tiggerlen

These are 6 inch sticks. I usually order them from Glowarehouse, they sell glowsticks that have ridges on them that make them easier to catch, rather than the completely smooth ones from Wal-mart/Target.

  • retire bitch!

  • @Daavisonfire

    Clearly you're not a GSC'er.

  • interesting grip

gives you more freedom than usual, i might just adopt that

  • Best "how to tie" vid on youtube afaik! Thumped up, faved, subbed! Greetings from denmark!

    - Puk

  • have you gotten into one handed yet?

  • I use 45" flats for my glowsticks too. I have noticed that each type of tring...oval and flat, have their own pros/ cons. flats are easier on your hands and make for better spirials..ovals rub the piss out of your hands...but are better for orbitals .

  • @ThePoeticFox

I've never used rounds..Well, that's a lie. I tried 54' rounds and wraped them around my hands alot...but they're too stretchy for me. I feel like I can't get a good gauge on where they're going to wrap and how much torque and pull I need to apply

    :/

Love my flats even though they like to give me some back talk sometimes.

  • Thank you this helps alot!

  • Wallmart use to have the best strings "white Shoe Gear brand" but they dont sell them anymore =*(

  • thanks :) this will really help.

  • Perfect! couldn't have done a better job explaining it. thanks :)
