Actually this theme is inspired by the theme for the Shining film. Check out this vid:

The first 25 seconds of the Shining theme are used for the first 12 or so seconds of this Zombies Ate My Neighbors song. The notes are exactly the same, just sped up and at a different pitch.

Well, I don't know if the Shining theme is related to the Gregorian chant, but I do know for a fact that the music for this level is taken straight from the Shining theme.

I beat the game once I'm sure a long time ago, but it took such a long ass time.

The password system is pretty much worthless because it didn't save your weapons or items so you pretty much had to beat it in one sitting. Oh to be young again and experience this game for the first few times.
