the only way i could get it to work is with the, Mech2XPv3.exe but when i patch mw2 with that then mw2patch.exe, everything is unlocked in single player, is there a way to remove the cheat or whatever it does? its been awhile i cant remember what was allowed for what mission.
@NPHaintgay unlocked everything by using that patch? That honestly is the first I have heard of that happening. Are you sure you aren't using a profile with Enzo or FreeBirthToad ? I don't think I can help you on this one because its not supposed to do that.
Hey thanks for posting this, my 31st Century Combat 95 pentium edition works perfectly now.
I followed all of the steps except for installing Netmech and instead of Slug's patch I used warp13s one (the first of the three he listed), btw thanks for posting that houndeyex.
Now I'm off to start up my Nova and destroy some Clan Wolf.
@houndeyex yep that was posted a few years ago. I will be doing a new tutorial eventually. Really though the problem with the new hook for the 95 version. The mech variant customs don't work properly unless you combine it with the slugs patch as mentioned here.
does this work for Mercenaries too? (Mechwarrior 2 mercenaries... Im DYING TO PLAY THAT GAME) Im trying to install the demo but it says i dont have MS-DOS what do i do?
@jurassicparkboy Yes it works similarly. There are some differences but by and large the install is the same. As for the DOS version you mentioned.. i assume your on vista or win 7 if it is saying that then you need DOSBOX. Follow the other DOSBOX guide.
@SirxMMPD welll i have the titanium version and it says the same thing it says. The system is not suitible for running on Ms-dos please tell me what to do i have did everything on the compadibilaty mode and it still wont work i have downloaded DOS and still it does not work
@SirxMMPD hate to bother you SirxMMPD but i've encountered a bug with titanium causes the music to be VERY loud.... i love the music though... but mechwarrior cant be mechwarrior without the sound. you got any idea on how to fix this? and the worse thing is that you cant adjust the sound volume.... the only way to fix this is to cut off the music... if you put it one block away from mute... its still as loud as before.
yo shouuld take notes on this comment. thanks for your hospitality. Alex
@jurassicparkboy i'm sorry but i don't deal with titanium issues normally. If I was to guess you could alter the sound itself through the mixer on windows itself under CD audio or whatever depending on your card. Alternatively turning your sound down in the windows mixer for all sounds might also make a difference. Assuming your using the original CD like you are supposed to you would have a digital and analog plug which goes into the sound card from the drive. Might check to see if thats intact
No I never got it to get past the splash screen on Vista Ult. using windows. It seems for the vista 64x machines it is 64x even when you are in compatibility of any kind which leaves me thinking its Hardware related... Thanks a heap for your vids Sirx!
Oh my mistake...I didnt realize this was for the windows install...I used Dos and DosBox all the way. srry for the confusion. Yeah I got to the splash screen after a couple of hours of messing around...and then it just blackscreened me before installing. So No I havent gotten the win95v to work on vista. let me know and Ill delete these comments or you can delete them yourself if u can. Thanks for the vid. you helped me out.
@MrTex1987 No worries, I was just curious as it would have been awesome if it did work. I like to find new methods that work better. I'm planning on updating the vid with a new one eventually. I keep procrastinating on it. Thanks for watching! Glad to hear you got it working via DOSBOX!
@mariogame643212 No, it does not work with Windows Vista or 7. Which is why I recommend the DOS version of this guide over this guide. DOS combined with DOSBOX does work on Vista and Windows 7.
i have the pentium edition, and i followed your instructions. It starts up and everything, but when i go to play a round, nothing happens, and it says mission failed before anything even happens! any help would be greatly appreciated. ive always wanted to play this 15 year old game since i got it :p
@SirxMMPD I just tried both editions of mechvm, and they both give me error code 255 when i got to launch for a mission. Its like its taunting me...."its installed on your computer, but you cant play it!!! HAHAHAHAAAAAAAA" -____-
@fishravioli Yep, i know the feeling. :( Unfortuneatly if your having a glitch like this more often than not it can't be fixed easily. The only thing I can suggest is either buy the DOS version or install vmware and run it through that.
@mxpulga Server is down right now. My hosting service apparently had a big crash as I cannot even access their website. I have no idea when they will bring it back up.
@Intrafacial86 However, if you do not want to get DOS... between the two Battlepack and Titanium are pretty similar there is difficulties with both but they can run. Personally I would choose the Battlepack version, but Titanium looks slightly better.
@SirxMMPD Cool thanks man. I think I'm gonna try the patch on the Titanium. The Battlepack won't even install, even though I've done the proper compatibility stuff. I might be back if I have trouble, lol.
@Intrafacial86 So you know the installation is different than for vanilla versions... go to the website and get mechvm it will install titanium or battlepack for you.
@glitchyboy10 um, i don't know where you are going but the download link is available to everyone if you go to the right website. I just did it just now it has not changed since the video was put up. xvi32 is free!!!!!!
I have tried everything I can, i got the compatability changed, the patch installed and when I click play mechwarrior 2 nothing happens. my program just exits.
@mariogame643212 It doesn't work on the 64bit version, and if i recall it works very poorly on the 32bit version. Use the DOS Installation guide. It works for all operating systems.
@Looseminded The 95 versions are buggy that is why I replaced this guide with the DOS version guide. 95 versions have like 50% success rate. No one knows why.
@DarkCybrid 95 versions are buggy on 64bit os's.. I don't think I had much luck when i tried last. Been a while since i bothered to try. Your best bet is DOS versions via dosbox.
When I install it normally, it works just fine. When I run the actual game itself, the window pops up for about half a second with nothing on it, then closes itself...nothing else happens. Can I have a bit of help with that?
Sorry, can someone just quickly say what are we installing from here? Are we talking about very old and rare copies of the original CD-ROM? Believe it or not i probably still have mine lying around somewhere. Does this mean i can install it?
Yes, the chances are the highest with the netmech edition.
DOS and Vanilla 95 differences are largely shell related and not much more than that.
If you wished to install the DOS version you would have to follow a different tutorial. Either the one you mentioned or the others on the website the video mentioned. They are in the FAQ section.
no. As mentioned many times the 95 versions of mechwarrior 2 are extremely unreliable. The only version of mech2 with the highest return rate is MechWarrior 2 DOS, GBL DOS, Mercs DOS.
All of those versions can work directly in XP with some modifications and if run in vista or Win 7 DOSBOX works just fine.
sorry :(
Basically the netmech edition is the suggested edition of the game because it has both dos and 95 versions of mech2 on it.
I have my game running perfectly on my XP, except my mouse won't move the mech torso up or right. Any idea on how to fix that? I can't use mouse2kv.exe, because I am using the 95 edition.
i can launch the game fine videos menus ect but when i actually go to play the game it crashes my version is windows 95 cd rom pentimum edition and i followed the pentimum tut exactly so why dont it work?
Get a CD Burner and burn a cd with the files to another computer or get a thumb drive and transfer the files that way or get a crossover cable and connect the computers directly.
would you do anything different when installing GBL on XP? I got it off of Amazon, and I don't want to have to haul out and hook up the old Win 98 every time i want to play it :P (I'm not interested in anything online, just campaign)
On XP you can run the DOS version directly on windows. Instructions for that are also on the DOSBOX video as well or at the website for a more complete set of instructions.
Thankfully I can get my Retail Pentium Disc working on my other box, with Slug's files (not the auto-patch). (I'm considering buying the genuine DOS Mech2 Trilogy these holidays, now that I've read the methods to do them.)
I know that WinXP SP3 (I use SP2 for this reason) broke the last three MW games, has anyone found the technical reasons behind that? I've read a massive amount of ranting on that on the Mech3 Forum.
oh man. your a miracle worker. i spent about two hours on dell tech support trying to get this damn game to work and it was deemed impossible. thanks. RSW
Thanks for the feedback man, I will look into the installation for Windows Vista operating system.
My apologies for bothering you again, I followed this instructional video step by step for installing it on Windows XP operating system, and just before I enter "Trial of Grievance" and click on "Launch", it pauses and says "MECH2.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I am afraid that is one sign which generally means that its not going to work no matter which solution you use. My advice is to use the DOS version on your disc with DOSBOX. You will get much better results.
Use MechVM instead of the video it is much much easier.
However, this seems to be my only resource for the installation.
I own the MechWarrior 2 Windows 95/DOS Version and I want to install it on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit operating system, or Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit OS.
Question, what is the best and most reliable method of installation for Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit or Windows Vista Ultimate OS?
Please see the website, we have a new guide up which details the various solutions to getting the game working.
The most reliable method for 95 is MechVM on any XP and above system. The method seen here though in the video will work.
As for the DOS side, that is also possible to use on vista with DOSBOX.. and would be highly suggested over the 95 version since it is more stable. It is resource hungry though, but considering your vista anyways that should not be an issue.
when I put my CD in it doesn't do anything and when I go into the CD and run the install.exe I get a dos setup thing and after that I can't get the game to run.
You have the DOS version. Please see the other guide or visit the website for a step by step tutorial on how to install it... Alternatively at the website you can also find mechvm which will install and set it up for you if you use it,
I've gotten MW2 (Pentium) to work fine except for the music not playing. If I got the DOS version, do you think that that version would have a higher likelihood of having the music play?
if it is just the installer please go to the website mentioned on the video and look for mechvm. Install the game with that as it will automatically set up everything.
This guide is old I will be putting a new guide up in a few weeks showing how to do it with mechvm or slugs hook.
It really is simple though with mechvm it takes seconds to download and all you have to do is put the disc in and hit install. After which look in the dir it says it installed in and wallah your done. It is prepatched and everything it really cannot get easier than that. :(
I actually got it to work! Already smashed through the Falcon campaign yesterday... Thanks so much for this video.
One thing though, I tried customizing the Mad Dog and saving the chassis but it crashed and now every time I select the Mad Dog in the Mech Lab it crashes, which is annoying, but I can definitely live with it. =)
actually, I spoke too soon.... I'm using the '95 version and it was working fine but once I actually try to start a mission it crashes... what's up with that?
Sad to say your outta luck then. Pretty much getting to actually launch is bearly a 50% chance. Some people it works some it does not.
There is another method you could try that is not discussed here because the video is old and that is slug's hook. You can find a link to at the website mentioned in the top right of the video. It is located in the news section.
Alternatively you could use mechvm to install it. (also at the site)
Basically if you watch the 2nd part (around minute 5:30) it shows exactly what is supposed to be done. I am not sure how much clearer I can make it than the video.
Could you please explain what your having trouble with because I really do not see it? All it is is simply looking for the words VESA480 and then replacing it with VESA768.....
OK now you're getting somewhere. It wasn't clear how to use the program. I think it makes sense now. Titanium works fine for me and even win95 but crashes when missions starts. I'm thinking I'll just buy the DOS version.
No, Titanium has a different method. Go to the website look for mechvm and use that to install titanium.
As for whether it is more stable, that is not really true. Titanium usually crashes more than most versions.
If you liked the original version and expect it to be the same as that I would really advise you to avoid it as it is not nearly the same. The damage is different, the music tracks are shortened, the worlds look completely different design wize...
Hey! I got it to work on XP. Couldn't get the music to work, though.
However, I do have the soundtrack, so I just use windows media player, and the repeat button. I choose the soundtrack with the same name as the mission.
Ok, I have a problem. I have a 64 bit Vista computer. I have gotten a pentinum 95 edition to work until I try to deploy to combat. Then, the game returns me back to the mission failed screen. Please help!
i unfortunatly do have the 64 bit version...its a good operating system(i like vista so bring on the hate) for modern stuff but i want to play this!!! and i tried at1 and it was really sluggish
Yes the second solution is applicable generally, but I believe one of the files is different.
Slug's hook is the best option for mercenaries. Go to the website forums and you can find a link to it in the news or faq section. or just do a search
I just scanned the file before installation and after installation and came up with absolutely no viruses. I am using NOD32 which is one of the better virus scanners around.
Hmph, I used the latest version of Trend Micro PC Cillin, or something, my dad ran a scan, and about 4 viruses came up and it said the origin was the patch for Mechwarrior 2, maybe it was just a fluke, I downloaded it from the link in the Description
You need to open it directly if you are having a problem getting the installer that way. Open _MINST.exe on the disc. It may not show up immediately... if it does not then wait 5-10 minutes then kill the process..
At that point go to the website mentioned in this video then go to the mechvm section and download that program and install the game with that program. It is much simpler.
Ok thanks very much. But I have another problem, I'm at the Patch part, I click Patch, go to the Activision/Mech2 folder, and when I click on it, it says "File does not match patch!". What should I do?
Ok, I'm sorry for bothering you...again. Ok, I have the whole thing working, but when I click on the missions, it crashes or instantly fails the mission. But, I've had this disc since 1995, and it worked fine 10 years ago, is there still nothing I can do?
Pretty much (as I keep having to repeat, sadly) when this happens there is no solution short of reinstalling XP and hoping that fixes it. There is an incompatibility somewhere in the OS and no one knows where.
Your alternatives are this
A) Install it inside of vmware and run it there.
B) Drop this version (which I would highly suggest) and move to DOS because there is a much much higher success rate.
DOS Mech2 may be purchased on ebay very easily. Sorry!
Sorry, I signed up for an account, but I never got the activation email, I tried to have it resent 3 times, and tried 2 other emails, thank you very much for all your help!
Oh, thank you very much! Sorry for the trouble, I never got to the end of the video where it said "Don't as questions on youtube!" Nice backround on your comp by the way, thanks for everything! ^_^
the only way i could get it to work is with the, Mech2XPv3.exe but when i patch mw2 with that then mw2patch.exe, everything is unlocked in single player, is there a way to remove the cheat or whatever it does? its been awhile i cant remember what was allowed for what mission.

Basically the netmech edition is the suggested edition of the game because it has both dos and 95 versions of mech2 on it.
SirxMMPD 1 year ago
it did not work
SteelWolf1218 1 year ago
I have my game running perfectly on my XP, except my mouse won't move the mech torso up or right. Any idea on how to fix that? I can't use mouse2kv.exe, because I am using the 95 edition.
funkyspunkymonky1 1 year ago
by default i think the mouse is off.. check the cockpit controls

I figured it out. My dgvoodoo resolution was set too high. I got it working now. Thanks for the response!

i can launch the game fine videos menus ect but when i actually go to play the game it crashes my version is windows 95 cd rom pentimum edition and i followed the pentimum tut exactly so why dont it work?
dogga94 2 years ago
As mentioned
"Q. Which version should I buy?
A. DOS. 95 versions are hit and miss, DOS nearly always works. See my other video on DOS installation for mech2 for more information."
Pretty much it will work sometimes for some people, but the 95 versions do not universally work for everyone no matter what method is used.
You could try and download mechvm from the website and install it that way though. You may have better luck with it :)
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
i don't have internet on the computer i wish to install mech2 on so what can i do about downloading a patch??? please help it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Itsbec1 2 years ago
Get a CD Burner and burn a cd with the files to another computer or get a thumb drive and transfer the files that way or get a crossover cable and connect the computers directly.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
would you do anything different when installing GBL on XP? I got it off of Amazon, and I don't want to have to haul out and hook up the old Win 98 every time i want to play it :P (I'm not interested in anything online, just campaign)
garfield749 2 years ago
it depends on the version of GBL you are trying for me to answer that properly. There are 4 versions of it.
As for online.. GBL does not have online capability anyway
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
alright.... i fell dumb asking this, but how do I tell what version of GBL I have?
I know how to tell apart the original versions of MW2, but not GBL
garfield749 2 years ago
Says on the disc :)
You just need something identifiable.
Look for something that says Battlepack, Titanium for two of the versions.
DOS version says "DOS CD-ROM".
95 version says 95 on it..
o i guess there is a 5th version i forgot about... one version has 95 and DOS on it.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
ok. i have the 95 and DOS version. so what can i do?
garfield749 2 years ago
I would use the DOS version and follow the DOSBOX guide video. Or just use mechvm which can be downloaded at the website.
DOS versions work the best
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
do i have to? i mean, I know that the DOS versions are good, and I use DOSBox, but I would rather just run it through Windows.
Is that possible?
garfield749 2 years ago
On XP you can run the DOS version directly on windows. Instructions for that are also on the DOSBOX video as well or at the website for a more complete set of instructions.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
thats great. thanks a lot!

does anyone know how I can download THE FULL GAME for mechwarrior 4?
KlonoaTorqueBow 2 years ago
Wait until Mektek releases it then you can get it for free legaly.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Thankfully I can get my Retail Pentium Disc working on my other box, with Slug's files (not the auto-patch). (I'm considering buying the genuine DOS Mech2 Trilogy these holidays, now that I've read the methods to do them.)
I know that WinXP SP3 (I use SP2 for this reason) broke the last three MW games, has anyone found the technical reasons behind that? I've read a massive amount of ranting on that on the Mech3 Forum.
blackyoshi1230 2 years ago
can you help me what is the file i need to patch please help me please what file
dillondude9 2 years ago
It depends on which solution you are using. Could you please be more specific?
The mech2 forums are probably a better place for detailed help though than here.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your time and patience!
darkfang7 2 years ago
I am afraid that is one sign which generally means that its not going to work no matter which solution you use. My advice is to use the DOS version on your disc with DOSBOX. You will get much better results.
Use MechVM instead of the video it is much much easier.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Hello! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for your time and patience!
darkfang7 2 years ago
Please see the website, we have a new guide up which details the various solutions to getting the game working.
The most reliable method for 95 is MechVM on any XP and above system. The method seen here though in the video will work.
As for the DOS side, that is also possible to use on vista with DOSBOX.. and would be highly suggested over the 95 version since it is more stable. It is resource hungry though, but considering your vista anyways that should not be an issue.

when I put my CD in it doesn't do anything and when I go into the CD and run the install.exe I get a dos setup thing and after that I can't get the game to run.
what do I do?
ima5150 2 years ago
You have the DOS version. Please see the other guide or visit the website for a step by step tutorial on how to install it... Alternatively at the website you can also find mechvm which will install and set it up for you if you use it,
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
I've gotten MW2 (Pentium) to work fine except for the music not playing. If I got the DOS version, do you think that that version would have a higher likelihood of having the music play?
Tytaen 2 years ago
If you play in DOSBOX yes... directly it works as well sometimes depends. (XP Only)
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
i can't install MW2 cuz when i put the cd in i get an error message
IShallRuleOneDay 2 years ago
What does it say?
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
i can't install MW2 cuz the installer screen thingy doesn't boot.
IShallRuleOneDay 2 years ago
if it is just the installer please go to the website mentioned on the video and look for mechvm. Install the game with that as it will automatically set up everything.
This guide is old I will be putting a new guide up in a few weeks showing how to do it with mechvm or slugs hook.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
ah fuck it dude, this is overcomplicated. i was hoping for a quick fix but noooooo i don't get one so thanks for nothing. :( :(
(i just wanted to play MW2)
IShallRuleOneDay 2 years ago
I am sorry to hear that.

SirProphet 2 years ago
good to hear it worked!
Sorry to hear about the maddog tho
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
actually, I spoke too soon.... I'm using the '95 version and it was working fine but once I actually try to start a mission it crashes... what's up with that?
SirProphet 2 years ago
Sad to say your outta luck then. Pretty much getting to actually launch is bearly a 50% chance. Some people it works some it does not.
There is another method you could try that is not discussed here because the video is old and that is slug's hook. You can find a link to at the website mentioned in the top right of the video. It is located in the news section.
Alternatively you could use mechvm to install it. (also at the site)
However your best bet is the DOS version.

step3: Run XVI32 and on is not clear at all. Where can I find step by step instructions for this critical step?
whitescarfsyndrome 2 years ago
Click more info on the right side all of the steps are printed out.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
reread my comment more slowly.
whitescarfsyndrome 2 years ago
hmm thought i replied already here.. o well.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
OK now you're getting somewhere. It wasn't clear how to use the program. I think it makes sense now. Titanium works fine for me and even win95 but crashes when missions starts. I'm thinking I'll just buy the DOS version.
whitescarfsyndrome 2 years ago
DOS I suggest 100%.
It works on all OS's including linux under DOSBOX... XP it can work directly with some tweaks.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Thank you for this video! I have MW2 up and running on my computer now. The only problem is there isn't any music during the missions. Grrr....
Tytaen 2 years ago
Is mech2 cd in the D drive?
but yah most of the time the music does not work properly on the 95 version on XP and above
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Yes it is. I'm tempted to get the DOS version of the game to see if maybe that will work as well as my pentium edition, only with working music.
Tytaen 2 years ago
Quick Question:
If I was to get Titanium Edition of MechWarrior 2 , and installed it the same way you did , Would it Work?
I hear that its been made as a more stable version for Windows 95 and i'm lead to belive it would work. Please someone tell me .
Help Much Apprecated
Thanks in advanced.
fgusta2new 2 years ago
No, Titanium has a different method. Go to the website look for mechvm and use that to install titanium.
As for whether it is more stable, that is not really true. Titanium usually crashes more than most versions.
If you liked the original version and expect it to be the same as that I would really advise you to avoid it as it is not nearly the same. The damage is different, the music tracks are shortened, the worlds look completely different design wize...
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
You have to do a Tutorial on how to get a virtual PC going.
Cryton12345 2 years ago
Hey! I got it to work on XP. Couldn't get the music to work, though.
However, I do have the soundtrack, so I just use windows media player, and the repeat button. I choose the soundtrack with the same name as the mission.
Spirals95 2 years ago
Ok, I have a problem. I have a 64 bit Vista computer. I have gotten a pentinum 95 edition to work until I try to deploy to combat. Then, the game returns me back to the mission failed screen. Please help!
Spirals95 2 years ago
Basically you are out of luck if the solution here does not work.
You could try Slug's hook which you can find on the forums, but I highly doubt that the results will be any different.
You have three choices really:
A. Setup a Virtual PC running Windows 98.
B. Dual boot to XP or 98.
C. Buy Mech2 DOS and use DOSBOX.
Out of those options C is the simplest solution and has the highest success rate. You usually can find a copy on ebay for $5 or so.
Sorry that I cannot be of any help.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Actually I made a mistake it's 32 bit
Spirals95 2 years ago
i unfortunatly do have the 64 bit version...its a good operating system(i like vista so bring on the hate) for modern stuff but i want to play this!!! and i tried at1 and it was really sluggish
pnkfld7892 2 years ago
can this work MW mercenaries??
youngkill69 2 years ago
Yes the second solution is applicable generally, but I believe one of the files is different.
Slug's hook is the best option for mercenaries. Go to the website forums and you can find a link to it in the news or faq section. or just do a search

Thanks! now i only need to find the game xD I soo much like playing classic games and i love MW serries :P

ImMcLovin16 2 years ago
You cannot use the patch if that is the case. (You have the pentium version)
Use the 2nd option mentioned in the video or if you are on XP go to the website and look up slugs hook. It works better.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Hi. There is no virus in this patch. It is not slugs patch either. Scanned it myself.
FreezaCII 2 years ago 2
Hello, just thought I'd let you know. That "Slug's patch" put about , 4 viruses on my computer...=\
Jtw2012 2 years ago
I just scanned the file before installation and after installation and came up with absolutely no viruses. I am using NOD32 which is one of the better virus scanners around.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Hmph, I used the latest version of Trend Micro PC Cillin, or something, my dad ran a scan, and about 4 viruses came up and it said the origin was the patch for Mechwarrior 2, maybe it was just a fluke, I downloaded it from the link in the Description
Jtw2012 2 years ago
I had the same results as MMPD. No viruses. Used Malwarebytes' AM 1.34 and found nothing on my system. Where did you download the patch from?
blackyoshi1230 2 years ago 2
can this work for the 3d rage version? plz reply
itsatrap1989 2 years ago
FAQ #1
Q. ATI Rage does it work?
A. No, it does not work without the original hardware.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Okok, so I got it to work, but when I click "Install" it just closes the program. Please help!
Jtw2012 2 years ago
You need to open it directly if you are having a problem getting the installer that way. Open _MINST.exe on the disc. It may not show up immediately... if it does not then wait 5-10 minutes then kill the process..
At that point go to the website mentioned in this video then go to the mechvm section and download that program and install the game with that program. It is much simpler.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Ok thanks very much. But I have another problem, I'm at the Patch part, I click Patch, go to the Activision/Mech2 folder, and when I click on it, it says "File does not match patch!". What should I do?
Jtw2012 2 years ago
Please use the 2nd method mentioned in the video. You do not have a version compatible with the patch.
Or use the 3rd method not discussed in the video which you can find at the website.
For further support please post there.
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Ok, thank you for all your help, I appreciate it. =]
Jtw2012 2 years ago
np, good luck with your install!
SirxMMPD 2 years ago
Ok, I'm sorry for bothering you...again. Ok, I have the whole thing working, but when I click on the missions, it crashes or instantly fails the mission. But, I've had this disc since 1995, and it worked fine 10 years ago, is there still nothing I can do?
Jtw2012 2 years ago
Pretty much (as I keep having to repeat, sadly) when this happens there is no solution short of reinstalling XP and hoping that fixes it. There is an incompatibility somewhere in the OS and no one knows where.
Your alternatives are this
A) Install it inside of vmware and run it there.
B) Drop this version (which I would highly suggest) and move to DOS because there is a much much higher success rate.
DOS Mech2 may be purchased on ebay very easily. Sorry!
Please use the forums......
