The majority of Northern Irish consider themselves British, and don't consider the British Army to be an invasion force, because it is there army not someone elses. If you live in Northern Ireland then you are in the minority of people who want a United Ireland, if you don't you have no right to decide for a untied or split Ireland.

We were never 'in bed with Hitler', we inturned German Air-men and allowd the RAF crews and pilots who were shot down to go to Northern Ireland, We provided the weather report that showed the allies the green light for the D-Day landings, and more. The IDF is mainly closed for recruitment, why not go to a place you CAN join while you have the chance, as opposed to waiting years for the IDF when you might not have the chance?

The majority of Northern Irish consider themselves British, and don't consider the British Army to be an invasion force, because it is there army not someone elses. If you live in Northern Ireland then you are in the minority of people who want a United Ireland, if you don't you have no right to decide for a untied or split Ireland.

@ernstbecker1 in actual fact the word "yank" derives from the the word "english" the native americans couldnt pronounce the word "english" and shortened it to "yangese" and through time it became "yankees" and then "yank". you learn something new every day.

@MrJimmyboy1972 Actually the word 'Yank' was from a nickname for the Dutch settlers in America. They were called 'John Cheese', which in Dutch is 'Jan Kees' (the J being pronounced as a Y in Dutch).

Another Celtic group straddle the Scottish border in the old British Kingdom of Strathclyde. They were cut off from their Welsh cousins by Danish invaders in the south and squeezed by Gaelic invaders in the North (The Irish imperialist invaders! !! NEVER!) In the middle ages when the French who ran England were fighting the French who ran Scotland both pressed border Celts into their armies. Then they could be a problem for "English" & "Scot" as did not like killing each other.

Actually it is the English who are not British as Britain & British derive from the Celtic "Brython". The Brythonic & therefore British Celts are Welsh, Cornish and Bretons; the Gaels are the Irish, Scots and Manx. Some people recognize a seventh Celtic nation in the region of Galicia in Spain but their Celtic language died out 1000 years ago so links are tenuous. The Welsh regiments march to "Men of Harlech" calls on the Britons to slay the Saxons.
