There's one thing to correct though. When going for the front flip/tuck, don't punch the ground when taking off. Jump as if you are jumping off of glass. You don't want the glass to break, do you? That's the thing I found out recently when fooling around with my flips, and it seemed to help a lot of people master their front flip ;)
Overall, your tutorial is great. Keep up the good work! :)
Thanks for the tutorials. It was awesome enjoying my freedom when I could. Now that I'm stuck in this wheelchair I just watch you videos and remember the life I had.
I used to be kinda "fit". But then I got kinda fat (not too much), and without doing exercises, I feel so tired and reluctant now. I decided to start parkour again. But I am too busy to work out and make muscles, does flips really need "muscle" power that much?
WARNING TO ALL WHO WANT TO LEARN FRONT FLIPS.... DO NOT PUNCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN ON GRASS YOU *WILL* GET SHIN SPLINTS AND YOU WILL HATE YOURSELF. I KNOW FOR THIS HAPPENED TO ME SO I AM HERE TO WARN YOU ALL, SHIN SPLINTS ARE THE WORST FUCKING THINGS IN THE WORLD.
Ok so I can do a front and back handspring... Is a frontflip physically easier or similar to a handspring??? Like my lower back is hurt but I can do handsprings still. Do you think trying your method would hurt my back or should I wait till my back heals before I try to do a frontflip??
i cant do it i just cant, get to were i need 2 flip, and my body just wont let me, 1 hole hour on the grass and nothing. i can only do it on trampoline
hey i can do a front flip but i can land it near a nuff all the time but i sometimes land on my back could this be cause i don't tuck, as i never relay tuck when i flip but i now do the occasional tuck. oh and good tutorial btw
i can do pretty much this on the spot on the trampoline, although i rarely land on my feet, but i have not the guts to do it on the floor. i dont really have any padded areas to practice and i dont know anyone who can do it, and help me. do you have any tips? thanks oh and also, the thought of spinning not being able to see and going over my head doesnt effect me.
@ElleWellyBelly Honestly, if you can't land on your feet on a trampoline, you probably shouldn't try it on floor yet. But your best bet would be to find a gym in your area with an open gymnastics session of some sort, then ask coaches there for help.
@ElleWellyBelly go to a furniture store and tell them you want to buy mattreses and buy 2 or 3 of them, put them on a flat surface and practice. then when you feel confident remove one mattress
i can do pretty much this on the spot on the trampoline, although i rarely land on my feet, but i have not the guts to do it on the floor. i dont really have any padded areas to practice and i dont know anyone who can do it, and help me. do you have any tips? thanks
hey erm, i got a problem. when i try doing the front flip on the grass, i always land on my butt after rotating, at first i thought it was because i couldn't gain the height but later when i try it on a big fat crashmat that reaches up to my waist, i realised that i landed exactly the same way. full rotation but with butt on the mat. Why is this so? i have proven that i could reach the height, so height is not the issue... anyone can enlighten me?
@bewborn774 not exactly, Parkour is the original word. Freerunning is what the british called it when they wanted to use it in movies, and commercials.
I started trying to land a front flip about a month ago and first thing I did was to try it on a trampoline. By now I've got it down and can tuck pretty cleanly, but honestly I'm just scared to try it on the ground, especially since I only have grass to try it on.
Started practicing front flips a week ago on flat ground at some martial arts room. The ground has very minimal padding but it's the safest place I got :/.
This video is SOOOOOOOO helpful. I just can't get the last part. I did every step. I just can't get enough air to tuck and do a front flip in the air.
Can someone please tell me where to find friends like that where I live so I can practice lol. Being the only one sucks balls man you guys got a gym and everything man you guys are so lucky. Yet I will soon master the front flip because heres a tip why dont you practice now how to do two in a row like one after another that would be sick cuz then you can move to two then a back flip i dont know youa er the ones with a gym area lol
In this video, both of you guys are throwing your arms out and over, so you're not getting much height and landing in a low crouch. You're not jumping as high as you can before you set the flip. in the tutorial you teach the flip correctly, but don't perform the flip correctly. /watch?v=xMG2ExpEH1k Watch how this guy leaves the ground before he sets and notice the height. I am just trying to be helpful, your front is good, but with proper technique it would be better.
great tutorial, i went outside and practiced every step and improved my front flip, i can now land it better and will teach these steps to my friends to help them too :)
damn it, me and my friend already had it going, but our basketball coach prohibited us from using the school matresses and i didn't practice for 3 days and i already fall on my back again, shit,
If You land on your but, you are almost there! Try lightening yourself with less layers, trampolines or mats ( I learned on pole vault mats) or just work on your vertical jumping :)
best vid if you want to learn front flips, after doing this i learnt it in a week. would have been less time if i actually went to gym . but i got it on my first gym sesh of the week.
@DRstaszak Do you mean the balls of your feet? The ball is... not just the toe, but the toe and the portion under the toe ( if you look at your foot you will see). Search on google if you haven't understood! :)
@DRstaszak Its the part if you tryed to tip toe around you would put pressure on lower or back past the big toe or under it from different points of view.
@haikalzzz just jump with both feet as high as you can.. and when in the air, tuck your body, then you'll amazingly do the front flip.. remember, as high as you can..
@andyfreeforall i can do it but ive only just found a place to train, its a trampoline club at my school but my mates and i just get some matts out and train, u should ask around if it interests u
I cant do it. Idk why. I say ok now i am going to do it and then the last sec I chiken out. Ok i did it 2 days ago in abou 30cm of snow. Still landed on my back. I said never again. But i still hope i will learn it. I realy want it. I have wached like a milion tutorials and i still cant do it. Can anyone help. Thanks
HA!!! we highly recommend you learn a front flip by doing half of one so you land flat on your back, don't worry this is healthy for you and prevents back injuries; oh and did i mention it requires you land flat on you back? lol yes, yes i did not to dis this guy out but common sense says that step is best to be avoided and "just do it" like Nike says
atm im trying front flips (for a week or so) always landed on back coz i tucked WAY to less. Now i got an exercise how to improve my tuck in air:D THanx
Thanks For This Video,It REALLY Helped Me Out, Since I Got into Parkour a Few Months Ago, But I Still Feel Like Were Not Getting Anywhere, Because Of Certain Things We Cant Do...So THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR THIS TUT!
Best front flip tutorial I've seen so far, I keep landing to the side though and my ankles are bent, im afraid my weight will go down on them and my foot might snap or something, its like im turning to one side in midair, kinda like giving up halfway through ..
ive been doing fronts for awhile now, but now i see what ive been doing wrong. it takes me alot more force then it should, and as sson as i used this, it worked perfectly. thanks, random internet dudes!
I have a question is it better to tuck with your hands on your knees. Or is it better to put your hands behind your knees. When I look at most vids ye tuck behind the knee, is there a difference?
This video is pretty good man nice work :D i think i will be able to do this when i get some good practice.....basically to me from what you do in the video i would just get a nice run-up then jump and fling my arms down to get the rotation and tuck while rotating...
Can anyone help me? I can consistently land frontflips well on the plyo floor at the gym but once i move to those shredded rubber mulch floors at the playground, i cant land it!
Today i tok my first frontflip on the groud, i dont got any gyms or such so i usually train on grass. I landed om my feets and hands, but i got injured in my fingers (Snot seriusly injured)
yea but in my city we dont have such gyms and me and my big cousin (male , 22 years old) must train outside on the streets or n the grass and its very dangerous but i still cant do any flips but i continue practicing but i have a trauma on my foot and i must not doo that kind of things now : (
IF YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE BE SURE YOU'RE JUMPING WITH THE BALLS OF YOUR FEET. WHEN YOU HURDLE YOUR HEELS SHOULD NOT TOUCH AT ALL, ONLY YOUR TOES AND BALLS OF YOUR FEET. This is what kept me from doing my front flip.
Man, this is what ive been looking for, i have a fear of flips after when i was younger i backflipped a few times and the 4th time i hit my head hard.
