Initially i searched for this song by typing in "Diyabarum" or "Diyabaroom"... and finally Youtube felt sorry and just let me have it. I finally found this song, and believe me guys, I had the 'earworm' for quite awhile, when I listened to it about 10 years ago..
diabaram means in senegalese -mr. n' dour's mother tongue language- 'my wife', so it is a song dedicated from a husband to his wife. this song is one of the very first 'real' fusion music done with proper sensibility and knowledge of genres. mr. sakamoto was a true visionary with this song and some others of same record.
I have just discovered Ryuichi Sakamoto today and I am smitten with his music- this is a veritable masterpiece and I am emotional listening to it. Its a rare thing for a piece of music to stir me quite like that (as much as i live and breathe music!). sigh..
Excellent tune, but i cannot respect people who combine such a picture like the one on this video to the music just because the artist is from japan...that's too easy and cheap way.
Puré ça fonctionne trop bien l'ame d'une voix Africaine, avec celle d'un compositeur Japonais de genie. ça c'est vraiment un morceau de ouf, aussi bon que afrocelt sound system !!!

Is Youssou N'Dour the same artist who sang on a track featured in the LittleBigPlanet game?
