  • Great historical footage! The 1926 Hurricane was an important event in Miami history. It meant the end of the land boom in South Florida until after WWII.

The University of Miami which had been opened just in 1925 also then began to call itself "The Hurricanes" to remember the storm. Interesting footage!

  • Wow dude this is incredible footage...Ive always wanted to see clips of this incredible storm.

  • WOW... PHENOMENAL!!! There are so many scenes in this clip that I've never seen before... even portions (between 6:09 - 7:15) that appear to have been shot immediately after the storm passed, while the winds were still high!!!

  • Mike stay tuned, as I still have some more footage from the 1926-storm which I will be uploading in the next day or two.

  • I can hardly wait... some of these scenes are incredible. And the quality is far better than I would have thought. I was looking out from my office window today at the very spot where the Rose Mahony was wrecked!

  • Gee, that's funny! I went to High School with a Rose Mahony. The guys all used to call her Rose Ma-horny.

  • Did she look like a five-masted schooner? LOL
