  • mine is 100000 times bigger

  • Great tank!

  • wahaha.. parihas mana sa akong tanom

  • how do you clean this beautifull aquarium? :3 and when, once a week?

  • Very nice gouramis :)

Feel free to check my aquarium, got few really healthy ones too :)

  • this isnt your tank this is a tank at that zoo

  • nice tank i have a 550 liter tank but it doesn't look as good as that I have a marble antenna catfish its really nice you could have one in that tank if you wanted

  • great job, one of the nicest ive seen..

  • Do you have a CO2 dispenser? Great tank btw.

  • your tank is amazing because it provides so many natural physical locations for the fish to explore: there are dark hiding places, deep grass, cave-like darknesses, overhanging fauna .. depth and feel and color to the entire habitat. just frigging lovely for the fish! as it should be.

you have succeeded not only in meeting the challenge to provide a humane haven for their incarcerated life .. but also in recreating a beautiful living image for us out of pieces of the real world. Kudos.

  • cocK ?

  • nice set up, luv it... how could you distinguish a male from a female tiger barb? i've got mine but they all same in shape. i've noticed now that there some slim in shape, are those male tiger barb?

  • Nice tank, simple but effective :)

  • 420 swim around 'erday

  • lol 420

  • never new tiger barbs are asian

  • where'd you get those plants?

  • 0.00

  • Do you have an ar pump inside or do you have external filters?

  • mooie bak, geeft rust, krijg zelf ook weer animo om een aquarium te kopen.in de jaren zestig had bijna iedereen een aquarium, blijft mooi!

    mick.

  • cool fish

  • Spettacolo della natura.

  • not bad i like it alot check out mine please awsome tank

  • lol 420

  • Can you grow Jungle Val in sand? I planted some but it stayed small and it has been a month. I thought it might be cause of the sand. i use playsand in my tank. My amazon swords are growing great in it.

  • @yournamehere954

This isn't playsand, it's special rounded shaped river sand. But i don't think that should made a difference. My jungle vals grow absolutly awesome in this sand. Absolutly no problem! I don't use any fertilzers or CO2. Just much light and the german tapwater with a great quality.

  • @yournamehere954 Sorry for responding so late, but there is a big chance you got Dwarf Sag instead of vals... Happened to me too.

  • @TheAegos I never thought of that but you could be right. The old ones are still small but I bought some new ones and they are huge now. I thought it was the genes of he plant but it could just be a whole diffrent species.

  • what is the name of the plant?

  • @gusmcd1234 Jungle Val

  • @GroinStabbingPro

    Exactly!

  • @gusmcd1234

Yes, like GroinStabbingPro said... "Jungle val" (Vallisneria gigantea).

  • Hallo,

Moorkienholz.

  • are those plants live?

if so, i notice you use sand as a substrate - is that suitable for live plants?

    thanks

  • @mostroboi:

Yes they are live plants. They grow like hell in this fine river sand. Never had any problems with the combination of sand and plants. Although i know that some people have problems, i don't know why. It's possible in nature, why not in fish tanks?^^

  • Very nice natural looking setup... larger is always better with tropical fish habitats and this demonstrates that in a grand way. thanks for sharing!

  • @HTCSWEOD:

Thank you very very much. I really appreciate it.

  • Great Setup. I love the decor; was there anything you had to do to the root before it was put in?

  • @Bannarama101:

The most important thing is, that this wood cannot rot, because it's bogwood. I clean it with a soft brush and boilding water. In my case it took me more than four month till it sunk completely.

  • bellissimoo

  • @tasiera:

    Mille grazie!!!

  • di niente tanta tanta invidia!!!! :)

  • @tasiera:

    Purtroppo, non parlo italiano. :S

  • a ok bacio!

  • not my choice of fish. i prefer agressive fish such as arrows, rays and knifes..but i give you all the props on such a beautiful setup...the aquatic plants are gorgeous and the driftwood is my favorite!! i think people should just jump in and try it when it comes to real plants..with good lights, i found it fairly easy..they just take care of themselves..again, great job, your experience shows in your tank..

  • @METHWON213:

Thank you! I appreciate that very much!

So you also have a planted tank? I'd love to see yours.

  • i also have got a asia tank, but mine is a special size nano tank^^

if i wait a month i think the plants will be grown to everywhere^^

    (Cryptocoryns, javafarn, smallfrontplantsidontknowthenameof, Hydrocharis morsus-ranae)

also some other swimming plants but not one of them grows as fast as the hydrocharis^^

  • Thanks!

    ... for both comments... ;)

  • Thank you, too! lol =)

  • This goes to show its not the size of the tank that counts. Its how you use it. Awesome tank bro

  • Thank you very much! =)

  • That is really nice. Mad plants!

  • Thanks! :)

  • If we placed a camera underwater in Southeast Asia I bet it would look just like this tank! N03lzz, you are truly an artist! I *love* the giant Vallisneria casting a shadow over the whole tank. This is one of my favorite tanks on YouTube. It is such a peaceful ecosystem!

I'm new to growing Vallisneria (American species) but they seem to be quite easy to grow. It's doing well in my 10 gallon tank with just a SunGlo fluorescent bulb and a few inches of CaribSea Moonlight (white) Sand.

  • Wow... thank you so much! =D

  • Heavenly

  • Thank you!

  • Thank YOU!!!

  • No, no, no... THANK YOU !!! !!!

  • nice tank man..ive givin up on huge tank..check out my monster pool video..

  • Hi, thank you.

I'm going to check your video out.

  • You must be a very experienced aquarist because every tank i've look at has been amazing not just the fish whats in it like the arrangement you have done plenty of research i am quessing to get the right fish together..

  • Just because keeping fish for almost 20 years.^^

  • do you add c02

    and what is your sustrate

  • I never add any fertilizer or CO2. I'm using very fine river sand. The one without the sharp edges not like "play sand" from the gravel pit.

  • too bad its not available here

  • nice community tank

  • Thanks.

  • really cool tank.

  • Thank you!

  • your tank is awesome!

Your clownloach is schooling with the tigerbarb haha that's so cool, 1st time I ever seen that

  • Thank you!

Yeah, they do that sometimes, it's very cool. That's why so good tankmates, they never feel alone.

  • FANTASTIC TANK.LOVE THE BARBS

  • Thank you very much! Watch the playlist of this tank: "420 liters Asia Freshwater Tank" or /view_play_list?p=D993602A4D685351

  • Nice aquarium! Did you just cut the bamboo in your' yard and stick them in the tank? I like live plants but I am chicken to try.

  • Thank you.

Yes, i cut it and dried it before i stick them into my tank.

I think live plants are a very important thing if you wanna create a running ecosystem in your tank. But you'll need the right lighting for real plants.

  • What sort of right lights?

  • You can't use normal bulbs which are used for lighting you house. Plants need a special light spectrum that imitates the sunlight to grow. Those bulbs are a little bit more expensive. I prefer buying them from the big fishkeeping-brands like: JBL or HagenGLO

  • that is hell nice

  • Thank you!!!

  • Hey guys if you would like a good underwater plant thats cheap go to walmart and look fore mondoe grass its amazing no dieseases and grows anywhere fish love hiding in it :D about 2 bucks for a pot

  • Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon japonicus) is a marsh plant. It can survive in fish tanks for more than 12 month, but it's not a 100% underwater plant.

  • very nice. If i want to grow live plants in my tank, how should i start off. Its 30 gals, freshwater, and the flooring is gravel.

  • You need a good illumination, and water without chemicals like chlorine.

Than, the best way to start with plants, is to buy fast growing plants, and as much as you can get. The tank should be densely vegetated after your purchase.

  • Wow man that's pretty good.

At 0:33 right where your blue gourami is hangin out, there are some brown stems.

    What are they, bamboo sticks?

  • Yes, right. Bamboo stick out of our garden.

  • nice tiger barbs

  • Thank you!

  • Is it ok if I use your set up for my first tropical tank. I want to start with a set up that I know will work then I will change it as I go. I just love the look of your tank! I could watch it for hours!

  • Depends on the size of your tank. My setup has the following advantages:

    - little cleaning effort

    - easy plant growth

    - a good balanced southeast asia community

    - fish that are asolutly awesome, and easy to keep under those conditions

    Do you have anymore questions?

  • I have a 55 gallon tank

  • Ok,

then you have to reduce the population a bit:

    - 1 pair of Pearl Gourami

    - 1 pair of Blue three spot gourami

    - 10 Kuhli loaches

    - Maybe no Tiger Barbs, but 10 Harlequin rasbora, or Gold Barbs (Puntius semifasciolatus 'Schuberti')

    - No such aggressive species like Redtails or chinese algae eaters, but maybe 5 siamese algae eaters.

    What do you think?

  • sounds good to me

  • I would love to see a video of this tank. =)

  • I will get a video up on youtube as soon as I can. I will let you know when I do.

  • That would be great!

  • Thats a nice peice of drift wood!!!! is is real?

  • Yes, it's real, and heavy... It took about half a year till it stoped to float!!!

  • Hey man nice tank. U should think about getting a black ruby burb it will look awsome with ur tank

  • Hi,

you are right Black ruby barbs would be nice. But don't wanna overstock my tank. It's still kinda full and i follow the rule 2 liter for each cm of fish-length... or one gallon each inch.

  • Nice. I wanted to know what you meant by "really good tap water"? Isnt all water the same? I live in florida and it rains alot here. I was considering either collecting water from the rain or from the lake not too far from my house. Let me know if thats a good idea or am I just waisting my time.

  • Hi,

"really good tap water" means, that it contains no chemicals like chlorine and it has a good, low water-hardness with less nitrate, because our waterworks has some special plants for that.

The pH-value and water-hardness of collected water is good for fish that need it (not fish from lake malawi or lake tanganyika). But you have to be carefull about air and water pollution. Fertilizer of farmers in the water are also very bad. Maybe test the water you wanna use.

  • Nice tank.

I like the clown loaches and the barbs and how they match. Maybe you should only get striped fish like that! example get a zebra pleco and some other striped fish.

  • Hi,

thank you. Yes, it's awesome how they look alike. That's why they are so great tank mates.

But this tank is southeast asia themed. So zebra plecs woudln't match.

  • How did you get the jungle val to grow so huge. Did it take long??

  • I got several offshoots a month and they grow about 10cm (4 inch) a week.

They are very easy to keep. I only got a 180w illuminaton 13 hours a day and really good tapwater.

  • i would wish that it was my tank. lol my tank is soooooo boring.

  • Boring with 40 ancistrus?^^

You told me you wanna build a 100l asian themed tank early in January, what's about this project?

  • Sadly its cancelled.

  • Pity!

  • Try some Bala sharks native to borneo

  • Bala sharks are great fish, but even my tank is too small. They grow 10cm a year... up to a total length of 35cm (14 inch). You need a 250cm (8 feet) tank to keep them proper.

Watch a great bala hark tank: /watch?v=gfbspqOI2sw or "Haibarben freshwater tank 1400 l (391 gallons)"

  • do you have ay Plecos in their?

  • Yes, I got four bristlenose plecs in there. Watch my playlist "Ancistrus" or 5:18

  • Great job putting together a nice planted tank,

  • Thank you. I tried to create a unique look by using only jungle vals (Vallisneria gigantea) as plants.

  • Try some Bala sharks they are my favorite fish.

  • nice tank and good fishes..try to include some guppies as well..

  • Hi, thank you, but guppies wouldn't match to my Southeast Asia theme.

  • Excellent!

  • Thank you!

  • y not have some big catfish or cichilids in there ? those fish dont do that tank justice.

  • Hi,

because this is a Southeast Asia themed tank. Only the Bristlenose don't match to that. There are some catfish and cichlids that are endemic to this region but those species are hard to keep.

  • More clown loaches! Over time they will be well over a foot long.. Don't worry.

    Nice tank btw.

  • I've 5 clown loaches now. I'm always looking for healthy looking new ones. But they are hard to find.

  • yes I kept walking catfishes and green snake heads together for a year and the catfish are easy but very predetory eating a barb or smal fisdh in minutes I kept them as juveniles and realeased them into the wild .

  • That's always the problem with predatory fish.

  • Yeah the catfishes stung me once its painful

  • Oh, how painful would you say? Like a bee sting or something?

  • yeah you will get bleeding

yeah similar to a bee sting

  • Good to know.

  • Soo pretty

    - Daniel

  • Thx!

  • very nice tank :) would u not be tempted to get sum spanner barbs for tht tank theyd have plenty of space and look sweet :)

  • Thank you. LOL... I'm thinking about getting spanner barbs for a few months now. I don't wanna overcrowd the tank, and those barbs become big. But you are right they are awesome and youtube-videos are barely.

  • Amazing video i have ever seen.

  • Thanks!

  • wow! that is absolutely gawjus, my tanks the same size as urs..but i like urs better! the set up is luvly! hope its still running ok :D

  • Yes, it's still running fine! I also have several newer videos of this tank. Watch my playlist: "420 liters Asia Freshwater Tank". I'll upload a "up2date" video soon.

  • ok cool..thank u!

  • awesome video awesome tank but when it comes to cleaning the aquarium do u uproot the plants or what i'm new to this

  • Ok, you are new, so it's hard to explain. I've sand in my tank and red-rimmed melania snails to break it up. The advantage of this combination is, that mud cannot soak in, like it does with gravel. So i don't need to clean the tank itself, only the filter. The snails prevent the sand of decaying.

  • Old video but new to me, this is a beautiful tank! Your fish must love it in there.

  • Thank you... Oldies but goldies.^^

  • so cool!

  • Danke! =)

  • barbus fish is like the piranha! he bites!

  • Um, no.

  • Which plants did you use?

Welche Pflanzen hast du da verwendet?

  • In english: Jungle vals.

Im deutschen heißen sie Riesenvallisnerien (Vallisneria gigantea).

  • Dude!! NICE.

  • Thank you !!!

  • hey, i have 1 tiger barb in a 5 gallon tank. is it ok for him? or should i get him a tankmate, but im afraid of overcrowding in such a tiny tank.

  • That's kinda problem.

On the one hand you should never keep tiger barbs alone... at least in a group of 6. But on the other hand you tank is very small.

A group of 6 Tiger barbs in a 15 us gallon tank (about 23 inch long) would be perfect.

  • what are those plants called that cover most of your tank, skinny tall aand green....what plants would u reccomend taht are nicelooking grow tall, grow fast, easy to take care of,and thicken the tank....i have good lighting please respond asap

  • Those plants are jungle vals (vallisneria gigantea). They satisfy all of your claims.

  • whats the white fish in 4:43?

  • It's a female blue three spot gourami (Trichogaster trichopterus). It only looks white cause of the camera.

  • what do u need to look after plants all mine keep dying your tank looks great plz respond

  • Thank you!

You need three things for good growing plants:

    1. good light:

I've four good fluorescent tubes (12hours a day with altogether 188 Watts).

    2. good water:

We've very good tap water in my hometown in germany

    3. CO2:

I don't use additinal CO2. I use the CO2 that my fish produce. Therefore you need to know a important relation: Fish need 02, plants need CO2. Airstones and other water movement add 02 to the water, but remove the CO2 in it. So you have to find the balance.

  • wow very impressive looking tank i was thinking of setting my 4 ft up with something like your se asian. i was wondering have u ever had any trouble with the barbs picking on the gouramis?? ive heard that can sometimes be a problem

  • It is stated that tiger barbs nipping on the long fins of gouramis. But i never noticed something like that in my tank.

Such behavior is a result of keeping tiger barbs wrong. Maybe in too small groups, in too small tanks or without any hiding places. Mine are very peaceful.

  • where did you get the massive grass plant at the front looks great!

  • It's Vallisneria. I bought 4 little plants in a aquatic shop, years ago. Btw, it's the only plant species in this tank.

  • do you have to proper plant growing stuff on the bottom?

  • I often get asked that.^^

I've never used any CO2 or other fertilizer. I think the two essential reasons are:

    - The very good tap water here in Germany.

    - The right illumination with good fluorescent tubes (12hours with altogether 188 Watts).

  • well your tank looks great. i have a community tank you should check it out i got a vid. But atm alot of my fish and sick but i am slowly fixing them with is good.

  • oh and by the way i saw that one of your clown loaches is much smaller than the other did you bye them a distance apart. Because one of mine died and i was thinking of replacing it. What do you think?

  • Adding a new loach should not cause any problems, i did that twice.

But mind, clown loach grow very big and you should keep them in a minimum group of five.
