The easiest way to fix this.... Suspend the player that injured the player as long as the player is out. If this was the case, Cooke wouldnt be on the ice. Look at Savvy (Marc Savard) his career may be over because of this jerk off, Cookes should be too.

@pureallstar3482 well there's avery cheap shots and then there's matt cooke cheap shots. I think avery's actions often cross a line in terms of sportsmanship, but they are rarely career- or life-threatening. So personally I don't think avery is in matt cooke's "class" as you say.

The hit caught his shoulder at an odd angle because Vinny is taller than Cooke and instead of the head, where Cooke was aiming, he caught him under the shoulder and caused ligament/rotator cuff damage instead. Cooke is without class and doesn't respect the game or the other players enough to be allowed to play in the league imo. He's not the only cheapshotist, but he's one of the biggest.
