I know that some mccain supporters thrive off hate but last night showed them with clear vision that the majority of america is not having it. Obama commanded 43% of the white vote to mccains 55%. So lets stop this black and white shit once and for all ok. Alot of black people and other minirities cried last night because the good white people of this country had their say :) I am so so proud of my country and always have been :) wow obama09
Agreed, on the race issue at least. Unfortunately, alot of black people thought that THEY had finally "won". This election was not a race war. A victory for Obama does not equal a victory for black against white. As you said, whites gave more votes for him than blacks did. One thing is for sure, is should now be clear that everyone in this country has the SAME opportunity. I don't want to hear anymore whining about discrimination. In fact, I'd like to see the field leveled a little more!
Maybe we could take your opinions more seriously if you didn't try to sound so cool in your intonations and try to look so sidelong cute and up-close-to-the-camera.

You are absolutely correct bornbillsmith but after last nights final debate i just cant imagine why a voter would go john mccain's route and if you ask someone why they can never tell you why and its never about an issue. That's horrifying to me. Bless john mccains soul but he just doesnt have what it takes no matter what his POW status means to us. The difference in intelligence level is amazing between obama and mccain. wow
Weak. I think there was a lot said. I get annoyed at people who take your attitude that nothing was said. Of course there were a lot of lies and spin but basically all you need to know is that McCain wants to continue the ruinouus trickle-down Reaganomics and O wants to give a tax break to the middle class, which is 90 percent of us. It wouldn't make that pronounciation *correct* if it had just one T. It would probably then be pronounced "WRY-TEN".

That $700 billion, allocate it amongst every household making less than $150,000. That's just the beginning.
But that´s the problem in nearly every country of the world. In the end it´s a consequence of the fact that politicians do a prof. job, means something they are paid for. Will politicians like Assad, Rabin or Gorbatchew ever appear again? We only can hope so....

I just wish that they would let people from other parties play. I'm sick of this two party system. It sucks. That said, Obama is the man.
The problem with the debates at this point is they aren't saying anything new. And if you're undecided after 20 months of this stuff on TV, then you shouldn't be voting in the first place -- polling undecided voters? You may as well poll my cat (ha! pole-cat).
This election is like the last month of school in your senior year, I just want it over. I want Sarah Palin to go back to Alaska and be a contestant on VH1's Surreal Life. McCain needs a vacation, or a nap, or both.
Let me ask you this. How can a candidate possibly hope to win without the use of propaganda. And the reason they just don't come out and say something because if they do it will always come back to bite them in the ass. The only thing that bothers me is when they don't even try to answer a question and just ramble on about something totally unrelated.
You're lucky you're not running for office. You don't have a plan either, and would be hard-pressed to find one to advocate that wouldn't backfire on you politically (or in terms of fundraising). Plan #1: Public financing must replace all private financing. Plan #2: All media time and coverage on all channels must be free to all candidates regardless of party as a condition of public bandwidth usage. Plan #3: Campaigns may have no input on debate topics/questions, and must answer Q's asked.
This stupid hoe was crying about how they needed to pass the 'bailout' few days back. Now look what's happening, the economy is falling as fast. Except now the 700-800 billion dollars they put in will just cause high inflation. shut the fuck up.
8.Also there should common set of rules that we should not change based on what party takes over,
A) Taxes will 30 % on all based on your income, I do not think having a Reb. in the office and cutting it to 25 % then having a Dem in the office and increasing it by 10 % is a great strategy.
B)We should always have some sort of cash reserve in every budget regardless of which party is controlling the white house or the congress.
7.Cancel the Electoral College; it should be based on popular vote. Electoral College was great in the 1700s but not in 2008, because if we can not elect a president based on vote count, then really our vote does not matter. It will also cancel this notion of blue state and red state.
6.Debates should only show plans and steps, they should have it in power point, it will be helpful when some body says I voted for or against they should also have their voting record with them, if we have to spend the next couple of days post debate fact checking, then why are we even considering these people for the job.
wow.Perfect! astounding insight..oh wait..i mean..good copy of what the media says anywayz. Why don't you stop playing cop out and actually get an opinion.
1. Cancel primaries (it will save time and money) each party should elect their own candidate within.
2.Cancel public or private donations for campaigning. (We should not measure the viability of the candidate based on how much they have collected, rather on the substance they bring to the table.
3.Cancel campaigning adds, all campaigning activities should take place through free equal public air time and radio time.
Very nice smile in the end. Maybe the essential of the video. Really, a serious, charming, perfect smile. Good, good... And hands off pockets, as I always advised. Go on like this and you will get high.
Thank you for the anybody who gave me a +1. It is the first I ever got on youtube. Thanks to TR for having given me the opportunity of getting at least a support one support in my lifetime. I swear I'm just crying now. I am so emotionated. Oh thank you so much ! I love you ! My first +1 ! I'll call my parents right now to tell them about it.
You make a good point, Lori. But, I'm at a loss as to why we should vote at all.
If you truly believe that neither of these candidates can answer a straight question ( which they can't -- I watched the debate too ), then tell me why you'd want either of these clowns to get your vote.
will in all honesty "theresident" you cannot get into the specifics of say economics, foreign policy in 90 seconds its just not possible. Also the constant back and forth nature of it all really prevents anyone from building up a momentum at all. Tho I do agree a few bare bone points about this and that would have helped.
1. Political debates are always more style and substance. They are prepared for like commercials. Honestly, if candidates started talking stats and numbers, majority of Americans would tune out and find it boring. Most just want fights to happen.
2. If you want to know their plans, simply go to their official websites and read their agendas and plans. It's all there... and different from the another.
3. View debates/speeches like power point presentations. Bullet points only. Details inside.
Sorry for all of the grammatical and wording errors in my post above. I typed it out hastily so that I could push the "Audio Preview" button, that I just now noticed. It didn't work to well, it stopped after the first sentence. LOL
Well, that's a waste of two cents. Without all of the candidates allowed to participate, how can this ever be called a debate? This was a show created by the demos and repos and aired by MSM, this was not a debate. What a waste of time. I'd rather watch reruns.
I subscribed just now. That debate wasn't even a debate, or a town hall format for that matter. It was a scripted, stump speech-a-thon. American's have no voice! We are nothing but peonage if we don't reject this fraud.
Is it just me, or does it seem like every time McCain promotes an idea, or tries to take credit for one, he always uses the base word 'surge'.
I mean, i'm not really sure what to make of it, but I still question what the obsession with that particular word might be, so let's consult our panel of experts.
Its going to be a rough next four years. And, that hoping for Obama... God knows what happens is Mcain and the "I Can See Russia from my house" lady win.
Ok, really? So you missed McCain slipping in what he refered to as the American Homeownership Resurgence Plan?
The concept seems simple enough, though not actually an original idea proposed by McCain himself. Suggesting that $300 billion of the $700 billion bailout package be used for buying up the faulty mortgages and renegotiating their value so people could keep their homes. Noble, but it doesn't really fix the problem and seems more of a political move than an economic one of sound thinking
3rd party candidate would change everything in the debate with their honest answers. Democrats use Republicans, Republicans use Democrats. Wake up people why do you support this abusive marriage. You the middle class are just a stepchild to them.
Well,I kind of second that motion, without hesitating to argue the main concept on the issue at hand, that ends up being irrelevant to the real point. (am I sounding presidential?...hahahaha..u got that right)
Those two cents were pretty much the whole point of a debate that was an hour and a half, and you did it in thirty-nine seconds, Good job, The Resident, Good job.
Government doesn't have so much to do with solving our problems. However, they could get out of the way, e.g., repeal the Community Reinvestment Act that led to the current banking disaster.
hahaha the debate. its supposed to be what u said, explaining why they should be the president by explaining their policies. but all they do is explain why the other one should not be the president. which is somewhat important, but it gets stupid when they say stuff like obama is naive and shit.
They should go back to The League of Women Voters as hosts of the debates. They did a much better job. The debates should be opened up to third parties, too.
You are so right about rhetoric and talking circles around the issue. As many ads that are on my TV screen and through all that viewing I have not heard one true stragedy for accomplishing what they promise to do. Another thing is that they can promise all they want .. they still have to get it by congress. this isn't a one man show in Washington. Look at those clowns trying to handle the bailout!
1st I love your space here on YouTube Resident, I don't agree with much said here but I find it fairly intelligent rather than the usual Kool-Aid sites.
I think the positions of both candidates are well known by now, anyone who has been paying the slightest attention this season need not tune in in order to vote imho (I did watch however).
Really does anyone not know who they are voting for already?
I can not agree that it is important to watch posturing bullshitter's lie. It's important to be informed and watching this carefully planned flotsam is pointless. It tells us who had a better writer and poise but this ain't no beauty contest. my vote will not be determined by such flatulent utterances. I no longer feel my vote counts anyway but I will vote just in case. Lesser of two evils is not the kind of choice we deserve, plummeting ratings would have been a better statement
Clearly there was not enough time given each question to outline a plan. Although I believe everything that came out of Mccains mouth was rhetoric, at least Obama is ready stop spending 5 billion each month in Iraq. Pro Stem Cell research, tax breaks for the middle class and small business, health care to all, pro alternative energy and the like. Mccains plan is a clone to Bushs economic/forigen policies. Clearly Obama came out on top last night and the polls back me up.
Obama outlined his plan to make health care affordable for all Americans and for employers who provide health coverage, and he made a commitment to make it possible for young people to go to college and to perform national service.
He has already laid out his plan for ending the war in Iraq and to turn our focus back where it belongs: on Afghanistan and Osama bin Laden.
Solution to the global economic crisis can't be laid out in 90 short minutes but America always wins in the end.
I agree 100%!!! The debates were like one of those old games of lawn tennis played by rich socialites. Totally boring and meaningless; yet people watch it, and we're supposed to root for a winner. Yawn.
It does show the candidates' dispositions, so that's good. So, if you don't watch the debate, but, instead, watch the people debating, it's somewhat worthwhile.
I could sit literally all day long and watch this gorgeous knock-out talk about microbes and mold without blinking.
Please get yourself on a major news network, (except Fox News, because then i'll never see you), because not only can you retain the publics attention, you do so with poise and an intellect that is well worth the endeavor.
they don't disclose detailed plans because either there is no plan fully developed or they don't want to elude to specific details that they know they can never ever deliver on.
Yep Terrible so far... terrible .. although the political process, a term a use loosely, has become a complete and utter farce ... after Palin, Florida, two terms of Bush Jnr, Enron, Iraq, water torture, Oil Companies and the united states of Goldman Sachs nothing would surprise me about America these days .. worrying times
I thought Obama was pretty clear on health care, foreign policy and especially energy. I also thought he spanked McCain ... again. Please elect Obama, pretty please with a cherry on top?
I watched the American debate tonight... then watched the Canadian Debate... It was so refreshing and really reminded me what a real debate should sound like. I'm pretty glad in this moment to be Canadian.
Yeah well at least Obama could order his three main priorities. Mccain couldn't even do that, he had to be vague and say well I could do them all at once. If Mccain has a plan he does a good job at hiding it.
C'mon you know better than this. Thats how politics is and always will be. You know that. You also know that debates very rarely move votes. Kerry won all his debates. He did well eh?
Most importantly you know McCain is hopeless and Obama is the only way.
So who cares about the debates? Its all just theatre.
The presidential debates are organized by a corporate entity that is controlled by both the Republican and Democratic parties. That is why you don't see third party candidates involved - and the main parties control everything about these debates. As a result, the American voter gets an empty debate bereft of any ideas that challenge the corporate control of Washington.
The problem is people... When people buy (or vote) - They don't buy based on the Nutrition Facts by serving size % daily values of the ingredients - ...people want the SIZZLE.
These 2 professional salesmen are just selling "sizzle" & nothing of nutritional value.
Somebody DID outline a concrete plan - Ron Paul. The nutrition was there to heal our sick economy with enough sizzle to get young people excited about politics!
The higher-ups didn't want to you to have THAT choice on your menu.
Wow Resident, I disagree. I think of the one subject heathcare, I think Obama had a better plan then McCain. But I also think anything less than universal heathcare will not be good enough.
I agree... I saw the debate tonight and didnt hear one good solid proposal from either party. The only thing I did like was how Obama is for more tangible views toward creating better and environmentally friendly energy sources.
i wish we could be flies on the wall when these two guys are without their guard up....im voting obama only because i think he is smarter .....and you have very pretty lips...you sexy girl you
Only in America can we ask for concrete plans. Concrete plans don't work in the rest of the world where the prospect of international war, domestic violence, poverty, disease, and/or natural disaster threatens to drown a nation in turmoil. I do agree, however, that American citizens are being hoodwinked with these "debates". I've watched both Presidential and VP debates and have witnessed more engaging conversation sharing recipes with my grandmother. Quit the rhetoric and make us believe!
That's what I was saying to myself during the debate, "We're all losers in this debate." It SUCKED! I mean, I know politicians like to dodge questions, but that's all they were doing. What happened, guys??? The first debate was good(Obama schooled McCain good). At least McCain threw out a couple of ideas I hadn't heard from him and Obama clarified his position on nuclear energy...oh I'm sorry, I mean NUCULAR energy.
No disrespect to anyone's opinion, but I agree with what the Resident said on this video. The debates are nothing more then razzle dazzle meant to keep our minds off the fact that the economy is going down the toilet, and the zombie apocalypse is right around the corner.
Hmmm... I don't agree. The debate is not a platform for outlining specifics of plans because that would be too lengthy. I would suggest going to the websites of the senators to find the specifics of their plans.
What are you talking about? Seriously, wtf are you talking about?
I hate people who over-exaggerate or just bitch for the sake of bitching about their government.
In regards to this video, I agree with theResident. But what do you expect? Its kind of BS. The fact that they only allow 2 parties to do it ALONE is proof enough.
election what election , all i see are dogs licking the hand of there master, master of what ?the lie the zionest way ,,, lol,, , it is writen , a person who masters them self has mastered somthing truley grate.
Israelis must be empaths ,, there voices eco what there doing to others as if it was happen to them with The usa licking there anus ,,, Britens europe is licking there hand.
This is actually a good thing as a real debate would be "won" by the better debater and the one with the better ideas might "lose".
The debate serves no purpose as most people watch it so they have something to talk about
when they see their friends or co-workers the next day.
Most people know how they will vote, the debate only confirms how they feel and if you're undecided the debate only makes it more difficult to choose.
The more I get into politics the more I realize that its all BS. I truly beleive that if someone came along and told us the truth we would shoot them down:(
omg when bush left he like left the country awful they owned lik so much money because f bush thats why usa is suffering for econmicalo issues

This election is like the last month of school in your senior year, I just want it over. I want Sarah Palin to go back to Alaska and be a contestant on VH1's Surreal Life. McCain needs a vacation, or a nap, or both.
Winner gets a mess!

Let me ask you this. How can a candidate possibly hope to win without the use of propaganda. And the reason they just don't come out and say something because if they do it will always come back to bite them in the ass. The only thing that bothers me is when they don't even try to answer a question and just ramble on about something totally unrelated.
virtuosoikingpin 3 years ago
You're lucky you're not running for office. You don't have a plan either, and would be hard-pressed to find one to advocate that wouldn't backfire on you politically (or in terms of fundraising). Plan #1: Public financing must replace all private financing. Plan #2: All media time and coverage on all channels must be free to all candidates regardless of party as a condition of public bandwidth usage. Plan #3: Campaigns may have no input on debate topics/questions, and must answer Q's asked.

C)We should have money for SS and Medicare.
Thank u Resident
BrainfromUSA1970 3 years ago
7.Cancel the Electoral College; it should be based on popular vote. Electoral College was great in the 1700s but not in 2008, because if we can not elect a president based on vote count, then really our vote does not matter. It will also cancel this notion of blue state and red state.
BrainfromUSA1970 3 years ago
6.Debates should only show plans and steps, they should have it in power point, it will be helpful when some body says I voted for or against they should also have their voting record with them, if we have to spend the next couple of days post debate fact checking, then why are we even considering these people for the job.
BrainfromUSA1970 3 years ago
wow.Perfect! astounding insight..oh wait..i mean..good copy of what the media says anywayz. Why don't you stop playing cop out and actually get an opinion.

4.Allow each of the known and the unknown candidates ( there are 7 or 8 candidate for 2008) equal air time on all the public channels,
5.All known and unknown candidates should be included in the debate.
BrainfromUSA1970 3 years ago
Right on The resident!!!!!!!!! Great job
Here are my thoughts!

You make a good point, Lori. But, I'm at a loss as to why we should vote at all.
If you truly believe that neither of these candidates can answer a straight question ( which they can't -- I watched the debate too ), then tell me why you'd want either of these clowns to get your vote.

Methos1966 3 years ago

C'mon you know better than this. Thats how politics is and always will be. You know that. You also know that debates very rarely move votes. Kerry won all his debates. He did well eh?

So who cares about the debates? Its all just theatre.
Donnie2020 3 years ago
The presidential debates are organized by a corporate entity that is controlled by both the Republican and Democratic parties. That is why you don't see third party candidates involved - and the main parties control everything about these debates. As a result, the American voter gets an empty debate bereft of any ideas that challenge the corporate control of Washington.

Before you can judge the debates you have to have some idea why we have them in the first place.
a) History
The Nixon Kennedy "debates" started a tradition that we have continued even though there was no reason to.
B)Cost
Air time is expensive.
The "debates" offers a way of getting the candidates views across with/out having to pay for it.
C)Numbers
Because there is an expectation that you might be watching an important event the number of viewers are greater then there would be otherwise.
bornbillsmith 3 years ago
The debate is not really a debate.
It was never meant to be one.
This is actually a good thing as a real debate would be "won" by the better debater and the one with the better ideas might "lose".
The debate serves no purpose as most people watch it so they have something to talk about
when they see their friends or co-workers the next day.
Most people know how they will vote, the debate only confirms how they feel and if you're undecided the debate only makes it more difficult to choose.
bornbillsmith 3 years ago
Outlining a concrete plan while sounding like a good thing is really not.
First there is not enough time to go into detail about these concrete plans.
Second nothing stays the same and what looks good today might not tomorrow.
Third Obama has a plan to get us out of Iraq.
He becomes President and suddenly he has the responsibility he didn't have before.
Do you really think he will do what he said he will and do you really think he should.

Exactly.
