If you don’t have an iPhone 4S, but still want to pose spoken questions to your device and let her speak out the answer, give ‘Voice Ask’ a try. The knowledge base behind it is huge (better than Siri) and the voice recognition works better with all accents. Work is going on to add integrated functionality that Siri offers, but for now, it’s a great app that knows details on the strangest of subjects. Get it at voiceask.com

Got this working, works brilliantly, thank you very much. For future updates, will I just have to run 'siriproxy bundle' if in config.yml I specify the .git repository, not a clone on my computer?
@hjaltij Thank you for the reply, I was trying so hard to get this installed then I realized they changed the plugin structure. I look forward to seeing the update!
@postbreak Well, you can still clone my forked repo on github. It includes Siri Proxy as it was before the changes but it's probably better to hold off until I push my changes.
Wow, there are a lot of improvements to Siri lately and it is happening quite quickly.
Quick note, TellMe might have been around for a year, however voice recognition on the iphone 4 was better than that. Siri is out of that league, it is in its own league as far as im concerned at the moment.
And if google says that they don't need anything like Siri, they are wrong, they will fall behind and Apple on fifth gear.
@bingimar i don't think you understand...this isn't an 'app' you can just buy. It's a pretty complex hack involving setting up a DNS server on your network to forward requests for guzzoni.apple.com (the Siri servers) to the computer running the proxy.
The author of the video is actually sitting next to me. My comment was a joke even a hint of sarcasm. On another note, failure to recognize sarcasm can be a sign of dementia.
@TVBNetworker I know, and it was more of a thought experiment than anything else. I positively love my SGS2, and couldn't imagine going for an iPhone at this point. Besides, I have an iPad for all of my iOS needs. I was just trying to point out that this was an awesome feat. :-)

noob here. How do I go about setting this up? I've got the ZIP file. I'm on a mac (osx).
Also, once loaded, how do I access?

Will you be updating your plugin to allow movies to be played?
booyaanoles 2 months ago
@booyaanoles Yeah probably, but I can't give an ETA since I'm fairly busy these days =)
hjaltij 2 months ago
@hjaltij works for me. I can try to help if you want. I am annihil8tion on the plex forums. Do all files need to change?
booyaanoles 2 months ago
@booyaanoles It's not too hard, just add parsing for Movies and searching and it should be trivial to add.

Any update to making this plugin work with the new gem requirement? The newest siri proxy update seems to have broken support for this plugin.
postbreak 3 months ago
@postbreak Yes I'm working on an update. Should be ready in a few days. I'm also adding a lot of functionality to it.

We communicate with machines through interfaces.
Interface 1.0: The button, fixed function, direct.
Interface 1.5: The keyboard, command line semantics.
Interface 2.0: The mouse, 2D manipulation.
Interface 2.5: Multitouch, gestures, direct interaction.
Interface 3.0: Voice recognition, command through fixed semantics
Interface 3.5: Voice recognition with natural language, context aware linguistics.
Interface 4.0: Thought???electro-telephathy?

lol an MS employee said "We had Siri for over a year now with TellMe."
TellMe is nothing like Siri. It will just Bing search a TV episode.
And google employee said "People don't need to talk to their smartphones"
He clearly cannot see as a utility, or the "3rd interface" for the future.

maybe this is what stevo talked about, when he said he had "craked" it. this is amazing.

@hotspotsystem the audio was turned off, idiot

@hotspotsystem Siri is excellent at distinguishing background audio from foreground audio due to the 2 mic's on the device. It is not a problem
