  • The Fed Ex Driver was doing his job. And I might add doing it in the safest way possible without blocking motor vehicle traffic! The trust fund queer on the bike who has nothing better to do,should go around or wait! Bicycles are for kids. They are toys. Fed x does a great job.

  • Just shut the fuck up next time and go around asshole.

  • Hey man ...how is life on your planet... do not bother people with a camera and put it on you tube that have deliver in time packages ...what is the message here ...FedEx is blocking bike lans? what a joke .

  • Keep up the good work FedEx bro! I'm a driver too, screw the bike lane hippies. If I were you though, I would've popped the camera guy just to teach him a good lesson.

But seriously, we couriers up here don't pay for the tickets. The company does. So you can film and file complaints all you want, but the driver won't pay a dime in the end.

  • I didnt have bike lanes when I was a teen and I didnt have any problems. What this boils down to is you dont deliver freight so you dont know what these guys go though. There is an old saying till you walk in someone elses shoes you just dont know.

  • What? Do you want them to park in the car lane? Moron

  • some people dont got shit to do then be bothering other people at work mind your own fucking business motherfucker i cant stand people like whoever film this video

  • watch the video. was there other space available? yes there was. you are like that guy parking in my garden "because there was no other space". There was bu it involved 6 metres walking. But even if there wasn't. You can't just go park in my garden or on my bikelane.

  • if the other space you mean by in traffic you're a moron!

  • I see so it is no problem to you when they park where the bikes should go and when they park in the traffic lane it's a problem. Do you see what I'm getting to? While there is actually a perfect parking place available right there.

  • first of all to park in that space would be extremely hard to park that big of a truck into. Second, even if he does get it in the space,he has no room to unload and do other things he has to do. Just saying.

  • wow I do that all the time you wanna report me?? 211996 thats my truck :) I had someone go out of his way to block me in and waited by his truck to tell me I took up 4 lanes. some people have no life :sigh:

  • lovex, you are a disgrace.

  • llama llama duck!

  • Get a life! This is one of the hardest jobs out there and they need to park as close as possible to the delivery location. Sometimes there is NO convenient and 100% safe location. Leave them alone and go around.

  • sometimes there isn't. look at the video again.

  • By the way Mr. Biker.....

That truck pays road tax and has a right to park on it. Do you have a plate on your bike? Do you pay road tax for your bike? If not, then SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

  • WTF has road tax to do with it?

  • thats in nyc

  • Jerk mind your own buisness, leave a guy alone!

  • he has no right to block the bike lane

  • Former NYC area resident: I'm a cyclist, an I.L. skater (I practiced my sports in NYC), & a user of private delivery services. I have to ask: Have you ever noted how many package delivery trucks there are in the city? Man! I counted 5 within eyesight once. It's a demanding stressful job for sure, but a bike lane is just that. For every P.O.'d, foul mouthed, delivery person's comments here, there are @ least 9 employees that you'd wish were assigned to your area. My FED EX/UPS ppl are awesome!

  • Fedex guy here, I wonder where else can I park to make that delivery?

  • As stated about 5 times below, park on the other side of the street in front of the buildings you are making deliveries to, not next to the park (where you are not making deliveries) simply because the bike lane looks like an easy place to park.

  • Cycling lanes are a solution to traffic congestion. It will take time to get a number of people cycling to work and to free up the lanes for those choosing to drive cars. It is in your best interest to keep these lanes free for the people who are going to use them. Blocking or opposing them will simply make the cyclists return to their cars and slow you down. Cyclists generally have cars too, but they're prepared to give it a try and make life easier for you.

  • Last 10 or so comments: I spent a few hours getting some video up on youtube to make my point, the rest of the time I have to spare on traffic reform (a very small percentage of my overall time) I spend DOING SOMETHING about it, and I've gotten plenty of results. It's obious you guys spend more time laboring over your puerile comments and surfing youtube than doing anything that has any effect.

  • traffic reform

translation ZOMG CARS WTF OMG GET THEM OFF 'MY' STREETS EVERYBODY RIDE BIKES!!! ZOMGLOL I <3 BIKES

  • Nice use of the 'C' word tough guy. I bet you were beating off as you typed it.

  • NYC is a shitty city inhabited by idiots. FedEx & UPS et al should lobby NYC Gov't to improve loading zones not just park in the bike lane that cyclists lobbied for, and won. I ride with my children (far away from Shitty NYC) and when an asshole unloads his truck on a cycle lane I have to venture out into the traffic amongst the homicidal maniacs in cars to get around his lazy ass. Why didn't he park in your lane. Oh yeah, cause you'd run him down and kill him in a heartbeat.

  • oh, i see. hes out working 12 hours a day and youre diddlybopping around on a bike all day...and hes the lazy ass???

  • How about you and him cycle along for 12 hours, let me know who quits from being tired first. Just to confirm what I already know would happen.

  • LOL diddlybopping

never heard that one before, and it describes bike riders perfectly.

  • I hate people like u! You have nothing better to do than to bother someone when they are trying to make a living. How would you like it if he came to your work and pointed out all the little things you do wrong. That is if you even have one. What if he was late and he had no choice he might have a family at home counting on him everyday. Dont worry bitch what goes around comes around! Dont be mad at the world cause they are doing better than your lazy bike riding ass.

  • In Manhattan, motor vehicle operators simply steer around obstacles, such as double parked vehicles, construction barricades, temporary steam vents, crater potholes, pedestrians that feel the need to wait for the light to change in the left/right lane, etc.

So why do you bicyclists feel that you are entitled to an obstacle free ride?

  • Must be the same reason you people feel you can blast through red lights, ride against the flow of traffic, on the sidewalk, alongside trucks about to turn (are you people LOOKING to ruin a driver's day), etc!

These guys are just doing their job, which must be done in the most efficient manner. You, on the other hand, obviously don't have a job since you have the time on a weekday to go around harassing and videotaping workers.

  • By the way, making a Uturn in Manhattan is a moving violation with points, driving around the block could waste up to 10 to 15 minutes, and blocking your precious bike lane is a simple parking ticket, that's later negotiated and likely dropped. What would you do? And before you answer drive around the block for 15 mins, think about how many red lights you've blasted through to save 1 min!

  • Probably your crap he was unloading. Would you rather he take up a few parking spaces in front of your house as a permanant loading zone? You people make me sick.

  • You're also the type to demand more police presence in "your backyard" but go around filming off-duty vehicles of police officers and other city workers because you are jealous they have parking privelages which they are entitled to... and yes they look out for their own so get over it. Band of Brothers.. rent it sometime.

  • Im starting to think with your attitude that you have a problem with automobiles altogether. I bet if there was no where close for a truck to park and make a delivery that wouldnt obstruct your precious bike lane you would still stop and break the guys balls instead of doing him a favor and walking the bike around. Oh wait that would inconvenience you and in ifreedmans world that cant stand so go get the video camera.

  • Quoted from a comment by you.

"The construction is already underway in this spot. It's tougher on cars, but no problem on a bike. "

  • last two commenters, I was born in New York University Hospital. I've lived in New York City my entire life. I've lived in every borough but Staten Island. The fact is the city is changing and if you can't deal with it, then its time for you to leave. The guys working this particular Fedex truck are clearly from another country, they have accents, but wlecome them with open arms as long as they stop using the bike lane as a personal parking lot.

  • when you stop using sideWALKS as you're personal bike parking lot.

  • its sad but true. ny used to be a place with attitude. raw and uncut. interesting people and places. now its just filled with faggots complaining about bike paths. congratulations on ruining one of the greatest cities on this planet. may u rot in hell.

  • I'd bet $100 you aren't From NYC. You probably came off the corn truck from Indiana or someplace. The man working on the FedEx truck was likely born and raised in NYC, then YOU come along from god-knows-where, and tell him how to use the streets HE grew up on!

Theres NO reason to ride a bike anyway. NYC has the best public transportation system in the country. You bikers are just looking for a reason to make a nuisance of yourselves.

  • well done. fedex unloading useless garbage and blocking the bike lane...keep up the good work.

  • screw you ifreedman. This was uncalled for

  • Can I just say that if people would stop parking in the Commercial Vehicles Only spots we would not have to park in your precious bike lane!

  • Fedex, get out of NYC bikelanes. Nice job ifreedman.

  • Clearly you guys spend far more of your life attempting to make clever youtube commentary than I spend photo'ing and posting these situations. And what I do at least has a chance of making a difference in the real world, unlike your commentary. If you think the situations I am documenting here are so unimportant, why do you even take the time to comment on them? Take a look in the mirror, guys.

  • Did you ever cut someone off in traffic? or tip someone too small? Or not hold the door open for someone?... and did they throw such a hissy fit about you, that they went and got a camera and put you on youtube??? Much more important things in life dude. Deal with it.

  • freedman... i am always amazed at the impatience of assholes like you. Give the guy a f'ing break. So you get inconvenienced for a few minutes... you actually took the time to go get a camera and videotape this guy, get his license number and put it up on youtube to throw a fit about it! Waaa Waaa

  • Cry me a river, dude.

  • eve, as the rest of the world recognizes bikes are serious transportation and that's why NYC is taking a number of steps to encourage biking, even though the come at the expense of motorists. Whether you like it or not you will be dealing with bicyclists on the road more or more (unless you stick to the highways; be my guest!). Why don't you get out of your car and give it a try before you dismiss it?

  • One more time . . . Mr. Fedex can legally unlaod in front of the residents where he makes his deliveries, but cannot legally do so in the bike lane, but he uses the bike lane because he would rather endanger bicyclists than inconvenience building residents. blsrob9 is wrong--the law is not the same for a second traffic lane and a bike lane. A right turning vehicle is required to yield to the bicyclists in the bike lane proceeding straight through the intersection. Don't like it, tough.

  • you should try to work a day in his shoes..where would you park???

  • Across the street, as stated repeatedly in the prior comments. Duh! Why do I need to work for Fedex to tell him stop his illegal parking? It's not rocket science.

  • He can do his job on the other side of the street. He parks in the bike lane because the doormen on the other side of the street shoo him away, even though double parking in front of their buildings is in many cases is legal (unlike double parking in the bike lane, which is always illegal). So I'm shooing him out of the bike lane.

  • Has nothing to do with doormen! Yes he could double park on the other side of the street, but this is a two-way street, and apparently his route is leading him uptown. He doesn't have time to circle blocks all day to constantly legally reverse direction.

  • Get a life bikefriend. He is jsut doing his job! Go Fedex!

  • FedEx ground sucks anyways.

  • yea, very mature comment...

  • Learn to spell first. Yeah is spelled with an H. Even the auto spell check would have shown that. When you learn to spell, then maybe someone will care about what you have to say. Until then....

  • Haha, I meet UPS-guys everyday, Most of them are nice...How did u even get the job at UPS? Well, I know they lack in service minded people, but come on?!!!!

  • Hmmm. You probably meet lots of guys each day. On your corner.

  • Woow...Has to be the most innovative comment i've ever seen.

  • Well, you probably dont get out much.

  • ROFL! That was funny! LMAO!

  • What was wrong with that? FedEx ground service was just rated by Forbes to be the most unreliable of all ground service. The drivers can remote packages for up to 2 weeks until they deliver it. So yes, FedEx ground does suck. FedEx express is pretty good but they still only do at the most half of what UPS does.

  • It only seems like we suck, but the truth is that we couldnt really give a shit less about your package.

  • I know you folks like audioslave who live on youtube are looking for action . . . maybe you think I should have assaulted him or something. Sorry to disappoint!

  • WOW!! You read his license plate number and told him it was a bike lane!! Your the man!!

  • So where was the talk, or did you just walk away?

  • glder, loading zones generally are limited to commercially zoned areas in NYC. But high rents and sales taxes leads people in NYC to buy things from outside their local area and have them delivered. The result is heavy loading activity in residential zones unable to accomodate them. Great urban planning.

  • Don't they have loading zones in NYC?

  • Yes, but not on that street (which appears to be Central Park West).

Often loading zones (signed as "No Standing Except Trucks Loading and Unloading 7am-6pm" or whatever timeframe), are loaded up with cars owned by police officers, court workers, and other city employees with parking placards (permits).

  • ok - that's not very good!

Here in Australia they pretty much are only allowed to be used by trucks and vans (commercial vehicles). Police could park there if they want, but only in emergencies...

  • I was just thinking this the other day as I was cycling down 2nd avenue that there is no such thing as a bike lane in NYC. There is no enforcement violations of the law for drivers who drive or park in the bike lane.
