Shes saying like nudging and beat matching is a quick thing, Most modern songs dont give you much time to beatmatch. At least those that are on the radio and some people like to hear. Thank you Lord for the sync button in that case.
@macintechnology u can but will not gain respect of REAL DJ's who know how to beat match plus what if u get a gig and the venue has different gear then ur F***ed , cuz u cant match ur beats by ear/ BPM
I like to beat match by listening to the high frequencies instead of listening to the low frequencies. The reason why is.. a kick is about 1/3th of a beat long, so it's harder to determine there the actual one is while a high hat is a lot shorter sound so when you get to match the high hats you know the songs will stay in beat even if you play the for 1minute or longer together. When you beat match based on the kick your songs will go off if you play them for longer than a minute together.
ye song is 'justafied' by Dan Tait but i cant get it anywhere been to his website nd couldn dwnload it any1 got any help as to where i can get this song please.... CHEERS :D
@Sasquatched23 Agreed. I think CD's are outdated. With Laptops, you can have readings, BPMs and such. Not too tedious, then we can focus more on effects and making the mixes nicer to listen to :)
@calebkw i agree with you. but ive used both software together with controllers for the computer, aswell as cdjs. I prefer cdjs. besides think about that there are still very many djs that use vinyl
Sometimes there is a cue button above the channel faders, when you push the button there should be a light indicating that your headphone cue for that channel is on (then you will hear it in your headphones).... There may also be crossfader a & b switches, in this case generally channel 1 should be set to a, channel 2 as b...Just try messing around with your switches, knobs, and faders. Good luck ;)
DoctorSess, A few things to check: the headphones have a seperate cue gain (volume). Also there is a cue blend knob that you can turn to adjust to hear channel 1 alone, channel 2 alone or both together.
alright im beginning to vaguely understand i made some progress finally i got tracks isolated hahah THANKS A LOT. i had a feeling its gunna take me just stumbling blindly crankin knobs and levers :)
One question. . . . what about listening to both tracks in the headphones while beatmatching? Isn't that easier. It's just like when somebody's making a beatmatching tutorial using the loudspeakers except it's done in the headphones.
@sohigh2die I think it's harder that way. You need to headphones to isolate the next track, sometimes, especially if your mixing on the fly, you need to listen to the cued song just by itself to make sure it's ok, and so you don't want to hear both. Also, that's the case for beat matching, keeping on earphone off allows you to hear what's going on outside as well as the cued track, without the hectic off beats throwing you off.
Bottom Line: Its actually easier with just one track in the phones.
PLEASE i kno its a stupid question but how do u hear 1 track through the headphones and 1 track through the speakers? im prolly retarded but i cant figure that basic thing out...
Rhetorical question: won't using the pitch control move the song out of tune? Of course it will. What can we do about this? Granular synthesis in a DJ rig, anyone? =P

analog is what djing is about. With this you're not really manipulating music ur manipulatic ones and zeroes. atleast use something like serato and timecodwed vinyl to get a feel of actually being a musician

that music database discussion is worth deepening, at least a series in it self. there is several ways with their own benefit. bpm, genre, date etc

@MyRitmo Well yeah, its definitely better to practice with headphones and monitors. Not necessarily a live set monitor, like studio monitors.
