Brilliant RUSH symbolize the Intelligent audience of thinkers who expend their commercial energy for the common good over the corrupt politicians and banksters who only care about worthless promise to pay paper money which is backed by the creativity and energy of the people.
Hey guitar players, why did Alex drop the double neck guitar I've seen in earlier videos? He is wearing two in this video, and it seems that the double would be more convenient. I don't play, so I'm just askin'!
Not sure about about Lifeson in '88, but for some guitarists, as they get older the guitars change for various reasons. Take Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy; he said he swapped his Les Paul for a Strat because "The thing about the Les Paul is it's a great guitar - looks great sounds great - but it's so ****ing heavy! It's like wheeling along a bag of cement!"
I think it's because the acoustic part of this song is played on a 6 string and while other videos of him playing the double neck are usually on Xanadu and songs like that. The top neck of the double neck is a twelve string so it wouldn't be required for a song like this. Plus I'd imagine it's really damn heavy.
i was watching VH1 classic and this song came on and it was a music video but it was not the lame one with geddys eyes. it was like them now than it would cut away to other tours were they were playing this song and they ended with this awesome bass riff. what i'm getting at is what the crap do i have to look up to see that again!
@theaxis2000 I have to agree with you that Triumph is also an excellent example of the art of music from Canada. there is something to be said about 3 some bands from Canada.

Back in 1989, I had never heard of Rush, but I found Hold Your Fire at the library. I wasn't too thrilled by it. I have always loved live-albums, so later I found A Show Of Hands, and it did the trick. What a fantastic band. I'm doing my best to teach my kids all about the great bands of the last 50 years. It's a tough job, but I hope it's worth it in the end. My daughter (age 7) likes Coldplay, and my son (age 11) asked me if we could go to a concert with Linkin Park. We went and it was OK.
@noersang u rock man 4 teachin ur kids about this awsome music. i went through wat ur kids r goin through now my dad got me all hypied up on this band, rock on brotha
@superslayerguy. Thanks for your reply. I'm sad to say, that most of the music these days is awful, but I think that's been parent's comment to their childrens music through the last 500 years, and it will be so until the end of time. Never the less, we who have good taste, must continue playing our fantastic records for our children.

@rushrulez1 Their next tour kicks off on June 29th, 2010 in Albuquerque, NM, and they are supposed to cover the Moving Pictures album, calling the tour "The Time Machine Tour" and "I'll be there, and I know, what I know, and I know, we told you before, but you didn't hear us then so you still question why? No, you didn't listen again!" Oops sorry, got carried away. LoL! Can't wait!
There's no mystery to it, it's a Signature Aurora. That's not my opinion, it's a fact. Go to the "thesignatureguitarcompany" site and scroll down a third of the page and see Alex for yourself. There are a million places where you can read about his guitars. He had several Signature guitars in the late 80s in a few different colors.
My first RUSH casette was "A Show of Hands" at 12 years old. At the time, Much Music played videos from that tour and that is how I got hooked. This album still is my favorite RUSH album. I can live on RUSH and Pink Floyd alone. The two best bands that ever was. I am proud that RUSH is Canadian... Peace!
@0Banjo0 Bud, you are so right! I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd's Roger Waters The Wall live in Ottawa last October and believe me, it was awsome. My luck didn't end there... Last week I got 2 tickets to see RUSH live in Montreal on April 20th. This is unbelievable, I get to see my favorite bands within months of each other. I can scratch out numbers 1 and 2 from my bucket list. Peace!
@danomitelive i could survive on rush and opeth alone. opeth's new album will be like a trip back into the 70's. i love artistic prog-rock. great. i wish i grew up on rush like you did, i've been listening to them for 4 years now, i'm 20 now. i got to know them through a comedy show called "trailerpark boys", haha. who knows that awful kind of comedy stuff would add such amazing music into your life?
I like the one from Different Stages the best. Only because I don't care for the electronic drums here. But, this exact video is better than any other song ever by any other band (excluding Rush's other songs) :D
This isn't one of his more impressive drum tracks. Check La Villa Strangiato or something along the lines of their instrumentals. Perhaps "Rush YYZ Drum solo" here on youtube, it'll rock your socks.. ;)
best rock drummer in the world and the only rock drummer to receive the buddy rich drummer award, all the others were jazz, he's pretty much, the best
The guys from Rolling Stone are still in the 'early days'. See for instance the reviews of the albums of the Rolling Stones: nothing new, still the same old music, but the so called journalists find it amazing...

Yeah, its so amazing that it sits in it's case in a closet and is NEVER played anymore. LIke a lot of guys, he has discovered that all you need is a great Jazz bass. I love watching them run around all over the stage like that. I also love how Geddy Lee has kept his signature one-legged hop around the stage to this day, even though they're getting a little old to be jumping and running around, lol.
New Wave Hairdos, the Miami Vice suits, electric drums. Thank God Rush went for the slick, yuppy image in the 80's. I can not even imagine Geddy, Neil and Alex in spandex with teased hair!

I think if you teased Geddy's hair it'd try to eat you. xD

What a beautiful song. My favorite. I always dug Rush's earlier stuff. I haven't kept up with them though. My bad.
