  • What does Worf say around 0:20 ?

  • @Brickfilmer535

He says Irwin Berlin, he was the original writer of the song.

  • @Brickfilmer535 "Irving Berlin", the man who originally wrote the song.

  • There is no better way to end STNG then that scene right there. I loved it.

On the bright side we still have Picard as Peter Griffin's boss on Family Guy.

  • Love the way Picard walks off to the music.

  • @ken1w B4-Data also appears in STO (or so I heard anyway, not got that far myself). But here's something I always wondered, if B4 becomes Data because Data uploaded his memories and personality into B4, doesn't that mean he basically killed B4?

  • @NotTheTinDog You are correct about the latter. If you read the graphic novel "Countdown" you will see that Data expressed extreme guilt for overriding B-4, believing that he had indeed killed him. Ultimately though it was Geordi LaForge who reactivated Data's memories and consciousness, therefore killing B-4. And no, Data/B-4 does not appear in STO. Yet. He is only mentioned in the path to 2409 text.

  • i started to cry at the very end!!!!

  • it says buy blue skies on the ANDROID market

    hint hint nudge nudge.

  • If anyone...why DATA?!!?

  • b4 cant be data hes too primitively made

  • NOOOOOOOOOO DATA!

  • I like this version of "Blue Skies." Thanks...

The Star Trek producers missed an opportunity with the "B4" (prototype Data) character. Instead of having Brent Spiner play both Data and B4, B4 should have been a CG character (done like Gollum in LOTR), voiced by Spiner. Since he's an earlier (less advanced) model, it would make sense if he looked more "artificial." And Data would become truly ageless (although there probably won't be another Star Trek movie with TNG characters).

  • Who here wants a sequal to the TNG series, with B4 as the new android?

  • @TheChosenOne337 - Data (B4 with Data's memory restored) makes an appearance in the comic "Star Trek: Countdown" that provided some backstory for the 2009 Star Trek movie. It would be very cool to see him, maybe as a CG-based character voiced by Brent Spiner, in some future Star Trek movie or TV show. Or maybe it could be an animated series, like Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

  • Great tribute to the best character in STNG. Data will be missed from the Trek franchise.

  • @SFisher1993 The whole point of B4 is to show that Data will be back one day. So he won't be missed much at all. :)

  • I wanna new trek damit!

  • @SuperKenny720 Me toooooo!!!!!!!!

  • You are amazing! This video was awesome!! XD

  • Do you ever wonder if B4 assimilated Data's memory?

  • @SkycaptainII Ever read a ST comic called "Countdown?" B-4 did indeed have Data's memory reprogrammed into him. Though it's sadly never explained.

  • we all endeavor to be more like Data... I cried too

  • i love this, my eyes did fill up

  • a mi no me gusto que data muera

  • brent spiner really needs to do a full version of this song

  • 5:43 = the end of next gen.. great way to send the series off.

  • Wish there was a full song of Data's version. (well there was, but not released to my knowledge)

  • @Kirkzzy I want one too, i would pay so much for it.

  • Data, an Aspergers icon

  • oh and who else thinks data's version was better?

  • just watched this movie so i had to watch this.

  • If I were Picard, I'd be phoning Bruce Maddox about now.

  • -sniff- I miss Data!

I love the end scene of the movie, where B4 is starting to learn like Data.

  • Sweet - thanks for putting this together, been a fan all my life and Data is definately a character that merits some appreciation. Nice work.

  • data obeyed the 3 laws of robotics

  • Lt. Commander Data, a frikkin robot! More man than i could ever be...

  • i hate to admit it but i got a little teary eyed, it was thinking about that last moment.

    "GOODBYE" and he's gone

  • FABULOUS vid!!!

    :)

  • i cry everytime i watch this :( but i cant stop watching, i love data, worst time of my life when i saw him die and star trek cancell :((

  • I'm gland to see B-4 become like data, But he'll never be are real data... *sobs a little*

  • Data and Picard are my two favourite characters. when i first saw this film i was devastated. I was furious that they would kill Data off. love data

  • The 2 most shocking and sadening parts in Star Trek

    1. When Spock dies( yeah I know he comes back stfu)

    2. When Data dies (yeah Yeah yeah b4 all that stuff)

But essentially I almost cryer after watching those) Data and Spock r some of my gave characters

  • The comic book series Star Trek: Countdown (a tie-in to the 2009 Star Trek film) and the timeline established for the Star Trek Online game depict Data as alive in 2387. Sometime prior, Geordi La Forge installed Data's emotion chip into B-4's neural net. This caused the uploads to B-4 by Data to fully reactivate, allowing Data's full memory and personality to assert itself, essentially resurrecting him.

  • Thing is he isn't dead. In the official star trek timeline, B4 fully restores his memory Data had given him over time and in effect becomes Data 100%. He takes the Data name and eventually goes on to captain the Enterprise. (Source: Star Trek: Nero)

  • @applesauce69 thanks for this i didnt know (gonna research more now)

Always hated the film for killing my fav char now i can try and watch it with a bit more of a liking :)

  • Love this vid! It was upsetting to see r

Data die...or did he? At the end b-4 is singing blue skies and Picard smiles, suggesting data lives on in b-4 maybe.

  • Well as Brent Spiner said- it was their last movie and they wanted Data to go out in a Blaze of glory but yah I cried too (shhh don't tell my kids)- us trekkers have to stick together. Still gonna miss my smart lil android. Yes he made us connect in a way only a non- human could- ; )

  • @ 27Beardie, you have taken lemon (Star Trek: Nemesis) and made some great lemon aid (this video) I tip my hat to you sir.

  • Still gets me. Now if you'll excuse me I have to punch myself in the spleen.

  • Two people don't see blue skies... Lol

  • R.I.P data T_T

  • excellent choice in the soundtrack for this one

  • thumbs up if you love data, and you cried watching this.

  • How come when the enterprise is crashing, and the guys are running, decompression isn't sucking them out?

  • @sammy1339 force fields

  • two people missed the like button

  • This is awesome :) cant believe how many views im giving u lol

  • OMG i totally like cried, and it totally works to

  • I understand Data had a profound amount of respect for his captain, but I still don't understand the purpose of Data's death? Why not end Nemesis with Riker becoming captain of his own ship and B-4 becoming his first officer? Of course he would have been re-educated by Data and then there could have been an epic battle that included Pickard and Riker saving the Galaxy. Spock died and was reborn why not Data?

  • Did anyone else think at 5:05 that Picard finally realized that B-4 is actually Lore?

  • i love data's retarded brother hahaha!

  • Data's version is better...:) Too bad they didn't record the full song...

  • The Scimitar ripped a new screen in the Enterprise Bridge. Did anyone notice? R.I.P. Lt. Commander Data. May your golden eyes inspire the crew of the Enterprise for Generations to come. Until your First Contact with Death, you have been more than an android. You inspired an Insurrection in our hearts. You were a spirit unto which we could all relatee to. You brought laughter into us. But alas! You Nemesis was your own good nature. Live long and prosper. Even in death. Vote up if u agree. D A T A

  • Unfortunatly Nemesis was a poor end to the best Science fiction series ever :(

  • Every time I think about Data's death, I cry.

  • Great Video! Thanks for posting! :)

  • @CmGHaures In TNG the Enterprise is a Galaxy Class ship, but in the newer movies it is a Soveriegn Class warship.

  • I like this song, on the movie the 1st bit was nice so i followed it up, its a nice song

  • i like this vid : )

  • I cried a little bit watching this

  • @SherlocckHolmez me too. I could'nt stop myself. Should've disengaged my emotion chip :P

  • @SherlocckHolmez

    true story

  • @SherlocckHolmez Me too :( ... I MEAN .. HEH, I'M A MAN .. I DONT CRY ... :*( ... God, I can't control myself watching this..

  • a good idea is to take the orignial and put the willie nelson song b4 data fades out

  • im not a die-hard trekkie but...

can someone explain to me WHY that, in every star trek movie...the enterprise looks so much more badass than it does in the series?

TNG; for example, looks like poop-ish, Insurrection, First Contact, Nemesis it looks badass! lol

  • @CmGHaures The enterprise in the movies is the new enterprise as the one in the tv series blew up in Star Trek: Generations the film, that and better movie technology allowed better graphics in the movies compared to the tv series which was made 1987-1994 :)

  • @27Beardie I believe that CmGHaures also means the original six movies featuring Kirk's Constitution-Class Enterprise. (Enterprise-A)

  • @27Beardie Also higher production value.

  • @27Beardie Woman behind the wheel, you know what happens xD. R.I.P. Enterprise D

  • @CmGHaures also you have to point out that the ship was redesigned as a tactical vessel rather than a family vessel/ exploration cruiser

  • @CmGHaures Let's put it in different terms as well. The budget for one single movie is more than any episode for the series. It costs a LOT to both produce a model to be used in the CG scenes and to perform computer effects on them...

  • @CmGHaures

because they have a higher budget for making a film then they do for making an episode.

they also appeared to enjoy changing things up a bit in the movies like uniforms ect..

I think it made the movies a bit more special

  • @CmGHaures because in movies they have a higher budget because people like movies better

  • The first 30 seconds of this video made my LIFE.

  • i so love this video it so cute and sweet

  • Data sings that song better then the singer himself...id love to hear him sing it all

  • @emill151 See if you can get a copy of "Ol' Yellow Eyes Is Back". look it up

  • \o/

I don't know if I can articulate it better than that. Friends of mine are getting married, and they want this as their wedding song (buncha weirdo Trekkies ;) ) This is beautiful. Thank you :)

  • This video is spectacular, I cry every time I watch.

Data is, was and always will be the most charismatic character on Star Trek TNG.

  • Data is inside B-4. He just has to grow.

  • @airwave089 Actually, I believe he was inside Tasha Yar and had already grown.

  • @sickphil71 HAAA lol

  • @airwave089 It's my pleasure to try and cheer up the appreciative, thoughtful folks.

  • I wish they had made a sequel to Nemisis. I even have an idea for what the title could have been. "Star Trek: Data's Return".

  • @22cevans good idea but would probably be seen as a rip off to Star Trek III: the search for spock

  • @STPROT Good point.

  • @22cevans Wow, did you stay up a lot of nights working on that one?

  • @sickphil71 Drop dead

  • @22cevans Wow, two words. You ARE articulate. Cub Scout got your tongue? I wonder where he's keeping it.

  • Comment removed

  • @22cevans While it's a good idea to not respond, you shouldn't call me cocksucker when you're the one clearly craving some wood in your throat; why don't you go swallow some more pork swords? By not responding, you'll have more time to do so. Go clear out some locker rooms. I hear you can get $20 bucks for that. No, you don't have to pay it--they'll give it to you so you can supplement your burger-flipping income.

  • @sickphil71 this come back is brilliant mate made me laugh reading this

  • @horrorgoth My pleasure to entertain erudite members of the public.

  • If they had a Star Trek: Nemesis Soundtrack CD with Brent singing that song in full, boy, I'd buy it.

  • @srbrunoaf Yeah me to.

  • It's ironic. The Thalion radiation ate up all organic life, so Data would have been the only one to survive. But he was also the only one who could survive in a vacuum and float over to the other ship and save everyone on the Enterprise. I know I'm over analyzing, but during the entire movie it feels like Data knows he's going to die.

  • I would love to here the hole thing u rock data!!!

  • Pure Awesomeness Brent!!

  • @Harvey96 and @QUEEN1992MERCURY - In the TNG series when data goes away for some reason Data leaves Spot with Lt,Barclay, because when he's left him with other members of the crew he has attacked them or misbehaved even Geordi, so it would be safe to assume he's left with him until B-4 takes on Data's Memories and becomes Data II

  • @Werewolfhunter108

B-4? im afraid i dont know who that is O.O is it implying that data is sort of reincarnated as this B-4?

  • Brent Should sing the whole song

  • Nemesis was the end of Trek as we know it. Though, I can't say it was the best Trek movie, I enjoyed it and thought it was a fair ending. So sad and beautiful.

  • This version of Data is an excellent one! His voice has great, the arrangements were amazing..I wish the Director of this Starstrek movie just let Data sing to the end.

  • but if you read the new star trek book data is back as b-4 and he is the captain of the enterprise

  • @buffyslayer30 so sad

  • @buffyslayer30

who is B-4?im not familar with him

  • @k0ga777 B-4 was the android that picard, worf and data found on a planet near the romulan neutral zone, this was a trap for the enterptise to be lured to romulus, data transferred memories and skills to the B-4 in an attempt to make him more advanced, when data died all his memories etc were incorparated into the B-4 implying with proper training etc he could be the new data

  • @STPROT

ahhh i see thanks for the reply.it still saddens me to know they killed off the original data though...always wanted him to finnally understand human emotion ^_^

  • @k0ga777

B - 4 as in "before" Data and Lore. He would be Data's "kid brother" as Lore was the "evil brother". both created before Data.

  • brent spiner has some really good music...wish he'd recorded this, better than willy Nelson..:)

  • I can't say I'm a big fan of "Nemesis".. but this is a beautiful video, no doubt about it...

    and I <3 Data, but who doesn't? :P

  • poor worf lol

  • I think that it's ok that Data has died at the end of the Nemezis. It was the thing he wanted - to be more human. Isn't death the most human part of our lives?

Well, if you really want Data back - go, read "Countdown", it's a pre-reboot comic about Nero, Spock Prime and the others from theirs timeline.

I do love Data and Picard. :) I've watched TNG recently (i'm at a 2 season) and I think that it's the best Trek series - even better than TOS.

(sorry for my poor English. xP)

  • 2 memlingo your English is good enough for me.

  • @memlingo For me Data's death is so sad... i've cried hours and hours after seen it for the first time. In the comic, the guy is not Data, he's B-4. Data is dead, and a part of me with him...

  • @topfanastartrek I was crying too. To tell the truth I was attempting to watch the movie for 2 months before I actually did, because someone told me that Data will die at the end. xP It was so sad. But I understand why they did it to him. And why he did it. He saved lives of he's friends, he died as a hero, not an android. As a human being.

I have watched a lot of sci-fi movies and TV series since I have posted my first comment here. Data is still my favourite character. ;)

  • Irving Berlin *FACE TABLE*

  • but now thy've ruined the whole thing by delving into the pointless mirror universe (or at least a different version) which they failed to do with any sensibility. im sorry but the latest film just isnt Trek. why couldnt they do a series, with Riker on Titan or finish the Data/B4 conclusion arghh!!

  • @marauding16

Look into Star Trek Online for conclusions. Data's back. =)

  • it woudlnt have sold maybe after the next dew films they could possibly return to tng if it has the audience apeal

  • Because, sadly, Nemesis and Enterprise's failure nearly killed Trek...

I LOVE both TNG and TOS (the other three... up and down) but the way things were going wasn't working.

I LOVED the last movie! It IS Trek... or, to paraphrase the master:

"It's Trek, Jim, but not as we know it." ;)

We have Kirk and Crew and Trek all back again. People want to watch it again! NOW they can get back to more classic ideas with the new universe and hopefully resolve Shatner Kirk/Data.

    We're BACK

  • Its hinted that in time B-4 will tap into Data's memories and become a "second" Data.

  • Oh boy....

  • is there a full version avaliable for download?

  • Now Data is 'dead', who's gonna take care of Spot?

  • @Harveys96 I hope Geordi ^^

  • If you read the comics for what happens after Nemesis, you'll find that B-4 has become Data and is Captain of the Enterprise.

    I cried when Data died.

  • Yes thats true. I'm sure its cannon coz they followed the same storyline for Star Trek Online

  • @bchimself What comics? *_*

  • love Willie Nelson's version of Blue Skies!! Woot! And yes, Data's death hit me hard.. tho he will live on in B4 but it just won't be the same. Bring Data back!!!

  • :( Data's death was so sad. But fotunately, Data can still be alive through B-4. If you recall, all Data's memories were put inside him. He just needs some time to be able to access those, and once he does, he'll have all memories from the past, inlcuding the ones on how he behaved, making B-4 basically become Data.

  • His life forms song, "A British Tar," "Blue Skies..."

Is it just me, or did Data jsut have a karaoke program running in his head all four movies? ;)

If the next film does well again, PLEASE let Data be brought back, or hinted at being brought back in Trek XIII!

Give us Shatner's Kir and Data, and then everyone's alive, the family's all alive and happy... :/

  • @obiwanobiwan13 Sigh, You're right...

I LOVE DATA AND THE CAPTAIN!!

But, read the Captain Kirk's Trilogy Ashes of the Paradise.

    They're alive!! ^_^^_^^_^^_^^_^

  • I prefer Data/Brent's version...

  • by far :)

  • ...data are you feeling allright

  • ...data?

  • there were unconfirmed reports of a script that was never released because of the other progression of the other star trek saga going in a completely new direction. Anyway Data was rebuilt using the research that Geordi did and the schematics from Noonien Soong's notes. B4 had a complete download of Data's memory banks. (if you remember that 1 minute talk between Geordie and Data about his concerns that he was making B4 a copy of Data...) They copied it and redownloaded it to the rebuilt Data.

  • @echoingwalls

That sounds totally feasable. Or thinking out of the box, download him into Lulls schematics

  • @bd8024

Remember Lull picked out being a girl, the new Data / Lull prosotronic brian would be downloaded to a Data body. In effect a improved Data would result.

  • Data is not dead !!!!

  • why did data just:

when he walks up to picard in the alien ship, beam him back set the phaser to overload and then jump out the door he came in then he would been a drift in space but he can be exposed to space for a little, then later the enterprise could have sent a shuttle to pick him up =O

  • because that would not have made me weep  ;__;

  • Data clearly knew some reman language by the end of Nemesis, so why didnt he just beam back over using the Scimitar's OWn transporter beam?

  • Because he shot the phaser and it immediately exploded

he didnt have time to set the phaser up and run before it went off because the ship was about to fire

  • @GamingNorwegian As Spock has said, " The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few; or the one".

There was no time left for saving everyone, tranporters went down after picard came home, the only chance for saving the ship was split second timing only afforded by data, save the captain, save the ship. what could be more human, self sacrifice for the needs of the many. P.S. don't let Spock hear me say that.

  • never been so emotional over a tv/film caractor... he made the ultimate sacrifice... saving a friend.

  • ya it always gets to me no matter how many times i see this movie.

  • Data Rules!!!!

  • data dies :'( made me cry so much

  • i love this movie. awesome tribute. great tribute. beautiful.... blue skies shining at me...

  • amazing tribute- so simple in a way but still great

  • Make it so Data.

  • Great video! Thanks :)

  • Anyone else think it might have been better if Brent Spiner did the famous "Enterprise motto" speech- "To boldly go where no one has gone before"at the end just before the closing credits appeared

  • You're right. He should have said that at the end. And Data shouldn't have died!

  • Well they left it open so that he could "come back" they loaded all data's memories onto the other android at one point but it didn't work for some unknown reason...then at the end he's singing the song data sang at the beginning of the movie. It's possible they could figure out a way to activate data's memory in the other android and then they'd essentially have data back
