I would love to hear what the commentary from Johnny Kerr sounded like as the Bulls came roaring back... Red was damn near worth the price of admission alone, nevermind the fact that the greatest player and the greatest perimeter duo in the history of basketball were on the screen!
Kobe Bryant 39 points vs spurs and see the difficulty difference of the shots. Kobe wasn't on his prime yet at 22 years old and skill is outstanding. Jordan fans just admit it. 24 > 23
@heatballin When Kobe can get to 50% fg for a single season at least ONCE then we can start humoring your inane comments. Until then, his inefficient production remains one of the biggest blemishes on his resume
@heatballin kobe in an era where rules have been changed to help and assist perimeter players to score more easily, and he still hasnt come close to shooting 50fg% for one season LMAO pathetic. kobe 35ppg on a weak 45fg% jordan did that shit 35ppg on 54fg%!! not even close 23>24, jordan was a truly unstoppable scorer so dominant, kobe is nothing more than a volume scorer.
@heatballin In coclusion, KB=quantity and MJ=quality The first field goal made by KB already show that he's not using much of his basketball IQ. MJ would spin into the basket rather than shooting fadeaway, which probability is much more lower. No doubt Kobe made many amazing "tough" shot, but he just wasting the possession. Kobe is one of the great player, but he lack of something that MJ hav, basketball IQ and effectiveness
@heatballin Fool please, what you high on. Kobe is a great player and a sure shot hall of famer, a baller, no doubt about it, but MJ he ain't. Potna i think you mean 23>24. Obviously you did'nt see MJ in his prime, so i will forgive you for your ignorance. Oh and P.S, none of MJ's championship level teams ever got swept four games to none, like the lakers against DALLAS this year, capped off by a 39 point shellacking, what a pathetic perfomance, MJ never lost like that in the playoffs, wake up.
@scarface980 He had been dominating the league for like 5 seasons at the point so i think he knew...alot of people forget the 80's Jordan(where he was way more athletic) and only remember the 6 championship older 90's jordan....
wassup with the crappy perimeter D by the Spurs? they gave MJ so much room at the top of the key... MJ still got by his man anyways... didn't seem like there was much hand checking going on though
If I remember correctly this game was played on Friday night and two days later they lost to the Sixers on NBC. A rare two straight losses at home. This was at the point in the '91 season when the Bulls had it completely together despite these losses.
No more than any other superstar then and now. The refs in that era and today will not call a player for carrying unless they put their hand underneath the basketball. But with maybe one exception, Jordan's dribbling in this video is 100% legal and just plain awesome. The one exception, when he redirects the ball from the side, hasn't been called a carry since the 1960s. I've never seen him do so many crossovers. One of the best ballhandlers of all time.
err. aint nothing like Kobe & Wade blatantly carry the ball & get away with it today. refs dont call that do thay. I guess, the excuse here is midgit hand size. MJ did travel but to call it were way too close & weren't blatant.
Damn he looked quick on his jukes and ballhandling moves in this game. And again, we see the RETARDED camera angle switches for Jordan plays. JUST SHOW US THE GAME and save the fancy angles for replays. Some of those shots were crazy. You can see that the Bulls could have run that "Jordan at the top" set every time and gotten results. I honestly beieve that '90-'93 Jordan could have averaged better than the 32.5/8/8 he averaged in '89 if allowed to dominate the ball like, say, Lebron/Wade.
he was real quick on that play. if you look at the juke move he has in slow mo, most of the time you see 5-6 directional fakes, which is crazy consider how tall he is with that kind of ball handling skill and foot work and first step. it is almost certain that he could drive pass anyone with ease.
Err...that is the ending. Bulls cut it to 1 with about 20 seconds left. Spurs made 2 FTs and then intentionally fouled Chicago before they could get a 3pter off. MJ made 1 FT, intentionally missed 2nd but Bulls couldn't grab the offensive rebound. Game Over.
Ahh, for some reason, when I was watching it the first time, the vid stopped at the 2:40 mark during the replay of that insane, hang-time drive. Thanks for this gem.
that move is really insane. sometime i think his hang time consists of the ability of palming the ball in both hands, also the touch of layup from different angles with both hands great mid-section and upper body strength, as well as great jumping ability. one cant do it with out lacking any of those element, and so far he is the only one i have seen that has it all.
i also want to give credit to robinson for the defense of that play, see how fast he recovers to try to block jordan..he was just a bit slower, for a big man like him, i have to say the court speed is quite impressive.
The music and video are perfectly matched with many AND1, crossover, shake and fake, and layups which are rarely see ALL of those at the same time in ONE game. Thanks for the upload.
I don't remember watching Mike, do so many crossovers. He seemed to be on a mission to attack the rim. Was there a reason why he was attcking so viciously?
Also, notice the difference when he wasn't handchecked to when he was. The handchecking was slowing him down just a bit, or redirecting him. It also gave the defenders more time to help out.
MJ's jumper was off for much of the night. Plus the Bulls were down BIG. So he was simply determined to take a high % shot on every possession from late 3rd qtr onwards.
That's why Kobe is better. Kobe wouldn't stop shooting no matter how bad his shot was off. That shows great determination, he's not a quiter like MJ. Driving to the hole.... pfft! This is also smart by KB.The defense notices your shot isn't dropping so they back off, and you know what that means right?
TAAA DAAAAA!!!!
Wide open jumpers all night. Since the defenders have backed away, now you have plenty of room to miss in peace.
No, that's called stupidity. if you know your jumper is off. take it to the basket for a high percentage shot or get to the free throw line. how stupid are you? Kobe is not as good taking it to the basket, that's why he always settles for jump shots, forced long jump shots. Your basketball IQ is questionable son. Defenders back away from you coz they know your jump shot is off. They wanna take away your drive now since you can't score outside.
Kobe is smarter because he's not a quiter. Jordan quiteded and started to drive to the hole just like Dwayne Fade. This vid is another example of Kobe being gooder.
Kobe 4 life!
Kobe is like LIl Wayne, he's the GOAT, he never misses. I think he only misses 3 shots a game, and that's becuz he's fouled. He's so much better than everybody else, defenders back away cuz they scurred to guard him.

Jordan had to wait to catch the pass, and was slowed down. Drob is probably the fastest end to end center ever along with Wilt, however.
