I went to see PG just yesterday; he played here in Argentina with the New Blood Orchestra. I really liked that new version of this song (and the other ones too!); I can't wait to get my hands on a good-quality recording of them :D
@1humdrum Yes, I also got the chance to see him when he came here on 2009. I discovered PG about 5 years ago, but my boyfriend was a fan since forever. PG had last come to Argentina in 1993, so he didn't get to see him. We went together; he was so excited. And this time, the ticket was his birthday present. I think I'm really lucky to have found such a great artist and been able to see him twice in such a short period of time. I saw his two previous shows here on TV :) (1988 and 1993)
Peter has the unique ability to paint scenes with his words and transport you from your world directly into his via his music. Special THANKS once again to all who have viewed this and have enjoyed this incredible man through the years.
Peter Gabriel is the most versatile, sensitive, incredible muscian. He is un-afraid to try to bring a different perspective to thing through his songs. He is so under-rated.
@MrJellybiscuit1 I agree. US as a whole was kinda like the anti SO. Both Peter and Daniel tried to go the other way with US. The result was a very dark sounding album.
I am 17 years old and for me PG is the best and most technical singer I've ever seen. Nobody is as felxible as PG. He plays intellectual and demanding music and he is funny and a passoinate musician. And that is the key that his music is so emotional and good. Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga will never get this talent and they never will be as good as PG because they only live from their advertisement and their 14 yr old fans ! They don't even write the songs they play by themselves. PG is the best !
Back when PG was ın front of Genesis I knew he was bound for musıc greatness. He went agaınst the commercıalısm of pop musıc that later Genesıs (Phıl Colıns) fell ınto. As on older person now, ıt's always good to hear that younger lısteners have dıscovered truely great musıc because lıke all truely great musıc, ıt's tımeless. There have always been the Lady Gagas of musıc, they make theır money and dısappear. Whıch ıs all they wanted. A true artıst ın any dısıplıne seeks a much hıgher fufılment.
Absolutely incredible, there is no such brilliant artist existing in the world. Love everything this artist have ever done including the very first genesis : from genesis to revelation. It's his voice, it's something else. Also his humanitarian etc', very inspiring human being. I am telling my children they should be so lucky to have this artist in the world comparing with their sad options of today.
As a 15 yr old, I am the only PG fan I have ever met... This is very sad to me. Why can't my generation realize what good music is and go look for it instead of settling for horrible things like (I know you might grow tired of even hearing their names, but...) Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber?!
@calebjoseph12 When I was 15 I used to be the only PG fan I knew as well. You will meet others as time goes by, you've just grown up faster than the others... and some would say better ;)
@666knivesout I think she has talent, but based on her appearance (which is the only thing that people are looking for these days), she seems to be trying far to hard to be avant-garde. Consider Marry the Night. If I were to pick anyone out of there who has potential to make quality songs, I actually think it would be Katy Perry. Her recent song, The One That Got Away, actually made me feel sad.
but this the turn of the World --------never give up my Daughter`s say what is this kind of music there was 13/14 and now she ask me for music ten years later
@calebjoseph12 No worries man. I was the youngest person at the Peter Gabriel show in NYC 2 years ago... its too bad the younger people don't know too much about him, but at least there are a few Gabriel fans...Being a musician myself, I hope to carry on some pieces of his style, carry on the great music...

Less than 1% of the people who have viewed this video dislike it. Why do they feel the need to tell anyone they dislike it? Why did they come to view it, if all they want to do is dislike it? Why don't they just tell their friends they dis.... No, wait. Better write it down instead.
@danthedobermann The bad thing about Peter is that from a perspective 85-> 2002 he simplified many of the arrangements for his songs. Everything played in 2002 was played better on the Secret World tour (1992?)
Why do I tell that? Probably 100 people will tell me I am dumbass, but maybe a couple will check Peter's earlier solo works or amazing Genesis albums with him, especially amazing rock opera The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, to which the lyrics were written completely by PG.
@flyingsayon I think you have a good point. But the progressive nature of most musicians tend toward growth and in some cases backing up a bit. Look at US and then SO. The introduction to this song describes my parents relationship. They had been married & best friends for almost 55 years when Pop died a couple months ago. Thanks for posting this...
Peter Gabriel is one of my biggest inspirations not just as an artist but as a human being. I watch him live twich back in the late 80's in Athens Greece and these will remain amongst my most beatiful moments in my life. His legacy will continue inspiring all the future generations and hopefully should make an impact big enough to change this world and make it a better place. His is one of the most important huimanitarians and I have huge respect for him and his works.
A true poet, one of a kind, he never ceases to amaze me, been a true blue fan since I was 13, when kids my age were listening to New Kids on the Block I was falling asleep to Passion of Christ, Birdy & Rhythm of the Heat. People who don't get it don't have depth and/or intellect.
To all that continue to view and LIKE this video clip I'm glad I could bring a few moments of happiness to you via the artistry of Mr. Peter Gabriel. I never thought the video would garner as much attention as it has. To me it will always be one of his most incredible performances.
I cannot understand how Peter Gabriel managed to spend more than five minutes in the same room with Phil Collins, let alone be in a band together, when P.G. is a genius and P.C. is a twat!
The studio version is a little bit sterile and overproduced... this live version is perfect. It has, in my oppinion, more grit and character than the studio version (i digged up my old CD today). Extraordinary, gives me the goosebumps.

Peter is a true talent, but I always wonder what Genesis would have delivered had he remained. Too many managers however , sans BANKS, GABRIEL,COLLINS..not enough cooks. Still, the synergy that group possessed is sorely missing from many of his solo efforts. Change is the life blood for good or bad...sometimes hit ( like here) ..sometimes miss ( Sledgehammer)... I still admire anything the man does !
There is no musician- absolutely not a single one- who understands the human experience as Gabriel. Secret World and Lay Your Hands on Me live are simply... spectacular.
@sisyphus511 - My other favorite father/daughter combo was Alice Cooper and Calico Cooper, whom I saw a few years back. She beheaded him on stage with a guillotine. Different vibe from the Gabriels, but boy that was fun!
Gabriel creates tremendous power through soft, sustained rhythmic tension that swells in to full out bombastic rock 'n roll. Got to love the man and his poetry. God bless Peter Gabriel.
If you enjoy original and talented artists please take a few minutes to search and listen to my friend Robert Matarazzo. His songs Caught Up In You and Too Late are posted on here along with a few more that I really enjoy.
Isn't it funny, how he managed to keep and even increase his artistic integrity, his cool, whereas the guy who replaced him as the vocalist in Genesis...
@pakvasevigreste I am not sure what point you make by attacking Phil's "artistic integrity." Pete is creative, but he has done no progressive rock since Dolce Vita. Collins has produced an impressive body of work across in several genres. If I compare Pete's integrity to Steve Hackett's, does that make Pete's work less worthwhile? I don't think so. One thing I can say for sure- generally speaking, I prefer Genesis sans Gabriel, to Gabriel sans Genesis. And I really love both.
wonder who the 9 imbiciles are.......or perhaps they are lifes unfortunates in a semi secure day care place........or quite simply morons........though.each to his or her own.......i 'spose....lol
based on the comments i see littered across the internet, some people get off on that sort of thing. anyone w/ any general sense or musical knowledge could at least appreciate the unbelievable talent it takes to be musically relevant for over FORTY YEARS, whether PG's style is to their liking or not.
@DANG02482 thank you for your kind comments and your concern about my mistake in spelling the word imbicile....I may be an inbicile of course......but things could be worse......could be like you.
Once again, nice to be home, i've been gone too long

I see he's still a tambourine man. :)

@leonakita I wonder the same.

There is no musician- absolutely not a single one- who understands the human experience as Gabriel. Secret World and Lay Your Hands on Me live are simply... spectacular.

If this is a father - daughter association on stage, I canno't name too many artists who can claim that fame...and such class!

I just read a book that brings you back to the classics. The title: "The Unanswered Dreams of a Dead Man."

Possibly one of the best Peter Gabriel songs. My favorite with "Here Comes The Flood".
So powerful when played live...

Isn't it funny, how he managed to keep and even increase his artistic integrity, his cool, whereas the guy who replaced him as the vocalist in Genesis...
pakvasevigreste 1 year ago
@pakvasevigreste I almost forgot he was one of the Original members
ND7652 1 year ago

@boxtie I have no idea how this could be Disliked. But whatever...to each his or her own. It remains my favorite PG live performance to date.

@mikeLOUD haters gotta hate.
based on the comments i see littered across the internet, some people get off on that sort of thing. anyone w/ any general sense or musical knowledge could at least appreciate the unbelievable talent it takes to be musically relevant for over FORTY YEARS, whether PG's style is to their liking or not.
