They wouldve been more believable as being descendants of West African Jews if they belonged to groups in northern Nigeria like the Fulani, Songhai or Hausa, all of whom having a history of migration. The Hausa language is an Afro-Asiatic one, & so is linked to both Ethiopian and Semitic branches, & the Fulani & Songhai have a history of ethnic integration and actual presence in the Timbuktu area, but these guys are Igbo/Ijaw, an group indigenous only to the Benin delta..

That is true in some regard. The original, oldest Jews originating from the Middle East were originally descended from Africa. So your statement is true in a half-sense: The Jews ethnically are from Africa, but their ancestors in Africa lived there generations before the Jewish people formed in the Middle East.

You can convert to judaism, but unlike other religions, conversion is not an instant process. It takes on average 3-4 years to convert to Judaism. This lengthy process is to make sure the converter wants to go through with it as well as to pass down all the religious culture and traditions. And yes anyone can convert to Judaism. Women are also allowed to serve as rabbis in reform Judaism. pretty interesting huh.
