@JamesIndieify Until the End of the World from Achtung Baby, Both of the parts he plays through the first mintue are that song, just switching from the verse to the chorus
i really appreciated the humility he showed in this documentary.. he asked a lot of questions and didn't really get to play his stuff like the other guys (until the featurette), it really was all about rock for white and page, but IMO.. these sounds he's getting here... kill. he's a real soundsmith. incredible tone and feel.
...music is not about speed skills, complicated techniques or difficult moves...it is a language spoken from the soul of the human being...if i listen to these sounds, i feel free...great guitar player.
@brmoogma agree. i hate folks who play crazy fast riffs or licks just to show they can; they have technical skills, but they might as well be computers. music is about expression of the soul.
Just to elaborate on what Hungerstriker27 said below, the fact that a riff or sound is "simple" or easy to perform does not take away from the artistry of creating it in the first place. The man is responsible for more memorable tunes than you can shake a stick at, and deserves all the success he has earned playing with U2.
for all those guys that hete the edge... I´ll be the last person to say he is one of the greatest... or that he´s in page level. NO. But... any teen can play the edge riffs and even some solos, but I think that, as jimmy says in the film, he´s a sound architect. I honestly think that achtung baby has one of the coolest sounds ever produced by an electric guitar. The fly, mysterious ways, until the end... His echo sound style is unique. Not all is the skill, but the innovation. I am a fan
@hungerstriker27 very well said! Kind of how in the sense that Bob Dylan isn't necessarily a good singer, however the fact that he was able to think of the chords he put together, with the lyrics, and the music he wrote is what makes him skillful. Not a physical ability.
that´s right... I can hear those speed solos in speed metal anf fall asleep. In the other hand, the intro of where the streets being at the concert can make you cry
I'm not a big fan of U2 but my word the edge is good. I really like that with the delay his sound is both percussive and melodic simultaneously pretty smart guy.
@bluebirdchipseater At the beginning part of the Until The End Of the World. Then is Pride ( In the Name of love ) and what i searches a bit is called Bad.
U2 was my first favorite band. And they will always be, my favorite band.
