Back in the day I played Loom for the first time (more than 15 years ago) I read that, if you manage to play through the game in Expert mode, in the end there would be a bonus cut scene that could not be seen in Beginner's or Advanced mode. After watching this video I figure this is not true. Can anyone confirm this?
woah i love that time i played all that... allways wanted create that "loom-movie" myself, but never time to do it, thank you for that. btw, how did you record it? (i mean how you managed to convert the amiga-output (RGB if i remember) to the PC? special video-card??
anyways, nice work and thanks again, made me nearly cry again at the end ;-)
i loved this game, reminds me of my childhood, i remember finishing this game. i always wanted to see the end again, i remember crying when i finished it haha coz i liked the music. it just gave me shivers hearing it again.
Wow! There is a shocking typo at 3:50. (should instead read "once TOO often") Im surprised this slipped through. I believe I've seen this sort of thing a few times in other LucasArts games, but never in Sierra titles. It seems that the classic Sierra adventure games were generally more technologically ambitious, complex and dialogue-heavy than LucasArts titles; despite this, Sierra never allowed such sloppy errors, even if some of their later adventures had some bugs due to premature releases.
when i think of animals that are pure, i think of swans, but i also think of dolphins. i think this game could have been played entirely with dolphins.
Hey I remember at the end they flew near the shepherds and everyone Bobbin had met during the game, creating a sort-of nostalgic/sad ending scene (alright I admit it made me sad), was that scene cut from the talkie version?
I miss old Lucasfilm adventure games. SCUMM forever!
If I'm not mistaken, all of the music is taken from Tchaikovsky's score for the ballet "Swan Lake". Just look for any Tchaikovsky Swan Lake CDs and you'll most likely find what you're looking for.
I know the beginning song is the finale to Act IV of the ballet, but as for LOOM's main theme at the ending, I haven't figured out.
That's a shame. :/ I actually only managed to get my game to work correctly using an emulator. (Still using my CDs, but using an emulator to have the proper PC settings.)

@TheAntiChrysler The extra scene is Cob's death. It doesn't appear in the easier modes.

Why didn't they ever make a sequel? Did it not sell as well as they hoped?
DeltaComp 1 year ago
@DeltaComp its not that the game didnt sell well, just that the creators didnt feel compelled to carry on with the project.
kratenser 1 year ago
@DeltaComp exactly, loom was a major disappointment.

dang, you know, someone ought to complete the trilogy, a series of fan-made games. How would it work? Would anyone even wanna try to attempt it?

schade, dass es keine Fortsetzung gibt.
It's a pity, that there is no continuation.
Osterochse 3 years ago
Very great game indeed. I loved this game as a story as a child and I still do, too bad they never finished the trilogy.
Hmm... If I do recall right, right before the ending with expert difficulty you could make Bobbin to show his face.
Dunno if it is true, just remember to read it from somewhere.

The music is all Chomsky's(I think/sp) Swan Lake, redone by The Fat Man.
Nice quote: "Preference Noted"

Is that referring to 'Oh Bondage up yours!' by the X Ray Spex? :P

That's IT? That's what they ended thhe series on? No closure whatsoever?
ReverendSyn 4 years ago 2
The game was originally meant as a trilogy, one game focusing on the Forge, and the other on Fleece's group, but as you can see, never happened. ^^;

It's too bad that they never came up with the two sequels to this game. When Bobbin destroyed the Loom, a bunch of plot threads got opened up. :<
