I test drove a VXR Astra last year. They are very skittish and torque-steer like a twat. So I opted for something with a bit more style which blew the shit outa the VXR's so-called performance.

Well it depends what you mean, as an overall package i agree the corvette zr1 is good (fast, great top speed, not too expensive for a supercar...) but lots of cars would beat it depending on the track. A Mclaren F1 would annihilate it (yes i know there is a different in price but you asked for a british car...) and on a winding track any caterham, ariel atom, lotus would beat it hands down aswell. So dont say i have no idea as i have a much better one that you!

The VIN plate is either under the bonnet/inside the windscreen/on a label on the Drivers door B pillar It will be either of the below; 1 - Russelsheim 2 - Bochum (Germany) 3 - Azambuja (1993) > (Portugal) 4 - Zaragoza (Spain) 5 - Antwerp (Belgium) 6 - Eisenach (Germany) 7 - Luton 8 - Ellesmere Port (1993) onwards Mine was made in Antwerp.
Also for your info they (the ring editions) are mechanically identical to the standard car apart from the rear exhaust section so will be at most 240bhp. Show me a rear box that gives you over 15bhp on an engine this size. Still should be quite close whatever.

Don't have a VXR mate, that's my mates in the vid. Use to have a LCR (mapped) but have now got a Golf GTI Edition 30 (see other vids of mine) that's running 320bhp..

I came up behind a new one of these yesterday in my 147 GTA it was an 08 so possibly still not fully run in.
Still he dropped two gears (I could tell from the exhaust note) then booted it, I stayed in 6th gear booted it (with four in car, full trunk) and it did not pull an inch on me, if i'd even gone down to 5th I would have driven through it - no where near as quick as I expected tbh.
No offence mate, but that guy must of had a rock under his accelerator or something. As there is no way a GTA is going to stick with a VXR 4 up and 2 gears higher. No matter how tight it is..
It's like a lot of cars on the road, you just don;t know whether they are going 100% unless you know the other driver..

i noticed the argument between the astra VXR and the FIAT 20v Coupe, well i have a Rover Coupe 220turbo (you can call it an old mans car but it goes 150mph so shut the fuck up) and i can vouch that a Fiat Coupe is faster, i know those astra's are fast like the focuses but the weight brings them down. Id still rather have the astra for sake of styling and price etc.. but performance.. id have the rover or fiat coupe :P cheaper fun :P

No offence mate, but that guy must of had a rock under his accelerator or something. As there is no way a GTA is going to stick with a VXR 4 up and 2 gears higher. No matter how tight it is..
It's like a lot of cars on the road, you just don;t know whether they are going 100% unless you know the other driver..

i noticed the argument between the astra VXR and the FIAT 20v Coupe, well i have a Rover Coupe 220turbo (you can call it an old mans car but it goes 150mph so shut the fuck up) and i can vouch that a Fiat Coupe is faster, i know those astra's are fast like the focuses but the weight brings them down. Id still rather have the astra for sake of styling and price etc.. but performance.. id have the rover or fiat coupe :P cheaper fun :P

You trying to tell me it takes 11.2 sec for me to get from 62-100 cos 0-62 is 6.2 . 237bhp you might have 3mph on me top end but i WILL get there quicker . 220 bhp 0-60 6.5 that was yor FIAT baby ferrari !!! when it came the production line a decade ago , but hats off to you for having a FIAT ! that has lived that long YA fANNY oh my last car was a mazda RX8 231 . i'd have a vxr over an st any day. come 1st march i will have a vxr. i made my choice and stand by it. grew up with fords, xr2s, xr3is, rs turbos, but ford just pump out shit these days. the vxr is a car to be proud of

an rs ??? is a more expensive car with more power thats like comparing a veyron to a ferrari you compare cars of simalar value ie the st which around a track mabye a little quicker than the vxr but in a straight line it will lose everytime and secondly the astra is a much prettyer car were as the focus is just plain common

Ive got a sierra cosworth 3dr and a cavalier gsi i like them both just as much but the only fords id have are the ones with RS badges on not ST they havnt even got a ford engine in there from a volvo ffs! sorry but astra vxr beats the st hands down

I've driven both cars, and bought the VXR because it was quicker, and flt more solid. Focus's handling was lumpy, and that big heavy engine makes the car unbalanced
