720 Will most likely be an upgraded 360 with Kinect built in. Don't expect anyone to have noticable gaps in power though. Since Nintendo is having other companies help with online and Friend Codes are gone then that narrows it down to gameplay. The Wii U can use features that the 720 will most likely not have unless it's price is launched.

@pcangeldust controller comes with the console, and theres only 1 per system, so I guess we'll see how expensive the console is. Its nice to not have to purchase new hardware though =D

@pcangeldust i don't think so... i think you'll only need 1... cause when i saw the the ending of Nintendo's live press con on the internet... they showed like a quick get-to-know kinda video... and when you're playing multiplayer the only thing you'll need is the WII remote(s) plus... i don't know, i might be wrong... but if we only need 1 WII U controller for multiplayer that'll be amazing... i think you can also use some of WII's accessories like the WII remote plus, WII fit, and etc...
@thotyz16renzo If they design all games to be compatible with the wii mote, nunchucks and classic controller then it will be a black but in essence all it will be is just a wii with better graphics since u can use same controllers and it is not essential to use the new controller. Either was I see a revision of this controller being made like a classic controller type with a gyroscope but not pointing system.

Controllers are getting more complex. more delicate, and more expensive. This one you definitely would not want to toss in anger or accidentally step on.
For me it would be better if they just released the wii u controller for the current wii. wii u with such controller will not be fun as the wii with the wii remote.
@jimtsalas You can use the Wii Motes and such for the WiiU also, anything you could use on the Wii you can use on the WiiU pretty much, WiiU has 1080p HD graphic capabilities though and upgraded memory i beleive and probly other cool features.

And If you see the dev vids, there are already going to be a bunch of launch titles. Arkham City, Ghost Recon, Darksiders 2 ,Colonial Marines, Last Light. It will be way more powerful than PS3, but rest assured, PS4 should break around even with it.

Wii U it's a new console. The controller is that "tablet", but the console accept Wii controllers and acessories. The Wii U bring to Nintendo the hardcore games, like EA new games, Ninja Gaiden 3, Darksiders II, Batman Arkham City and more.
Ok, I'll be a bit more realistic. I finally listened to this shit and it's actually a new system which is yet to be revealed I'd assume (in terms of exact looks/specs) but if this shit is in the PS3 price range, good luck. It better be $249. Wiimotes are already too expensive, so these DSmotes better be 50. Otherwise a lot of grandmas are going to be broke this Christmas.
I dont see how they can take a controller that would retail for 60$ and put a 6.2 inch screen on it and sell it for less than the current price of the controller.

It is going to be more powerful then the PS3 and that's all that matters.
Then again the PS3 was more powerful then the 360 and I always found myself playing it more, so clearly who's the most powerful isn't really that important.
As long as this controller isn't too heavy, it'll be much better then a "real" controller as you put it. Granted, part of me hopes Nintendo will make a smaller version of this thing later on.
im happy nintendo isnt going hardcore. we already have the xbox360 and ps3 for that. we cant just forget about the people who arnt as good at games as we are.
Seeing as Sony and Microsoft aren't likely to have a new console for at least 3 or more years, Nintendo's system will do alright as long as it isn't over priced.
While I haven't seen specs for it, it sounds like it's just a controller and a screen. Probably just enough processing to decode video. Same basic idea as Onlive. The system does all the real work. What you see on the controller is just streamed video.
@stbays well it does have a touch screen, gyroscope, accelerometer etc. video streamer wouldn't really need all those. but i guess its not Nintendo if it doesn't have gimmicks.
Those are all just controller input options. In theory, the controller portion sends a signal to the system about what ever it is you're doing while playing, then the system streams a video back showing the results. The end result would be that the controller wouldn't really have to have any real processing power to still do some impressive stuff. The down side is the controller wouldn't do anything on it's own, which I find disappointing.
@stbays well as the guy said, it is a console not a handheld. controller working stand alone wouldnt make sense, if it did make sense it would be a hand held, much like 3ds/psp/vita and i still think your theory is a little flawed, due to processing video is a much simpler task, than say processing touch and acceleration changes and then correlating the changes to effect the gameplay, unless the wii U does all the calculations , but then the latency issue would arrise, but you have a point .
Without the controller specs, I can only make assumptions. I figure if Onlive works great over an internet, the controller should be capable of the same via the short distance the controller would be from the base.
I'm looking forward to finding out that information and the cost of the system itself.
@stbays as do i, more importantly i want to see the graphics capability in more detail. and its true, untill they release some solid info onthe specs we have to assume everything. onlive have a wide variety of ways they can manipulate data to have negligible latency. for Wii U they could imploy normal wireless technology like bluetooth or a simple ad-hoc , but see'ing as the controller displays in hi-def, the bandwidth issue arises...sry for going all anal on this subject. good luck.
i wonder if this will be backwards compatible with Gamecube games and have Gamecube controller and memory card ports like the wii did, i'd really like that.

For me it would be better if they just released the wii u controller for the current wii. wii u with such controller will not be fun as the wii with the wii remote.

@jimtsalas You can use the Wii Motes and such for the WiiU also, anything you could use on the Wii you can use on the WiiU pretty much, WiiU has 1080p HD graphic capabilities though and upgraded memory i beleive and probly other cool features.

@uomealot3 The Eye toy didn't sell. Wii made motion gaming popular. The Wii's sales are falling, but it is still selling more than PS3 and Xbox 360. Case closed. Btw, no games for Wii U? What? Have you seen the developers talking about the new console? There's gonna be TONS of games for launch, and maybe even some 3rd party exclusives because PS3 and Xbox 360 don't have the same interface. The fact is, Wii U is a next gen console. That means more advanced. Too bad your'e still stuck in last gen.

-You don't know what games will be available at launch.
-The WiiU still does not have a hard drive..
-Other than the screen in the controller gimmick the WiiU is basically only going to be slightly better than the PS3.
I will still be buying one as I think it looks like a great system and I love Nintendo. But really it isn't that far ahead of the race and it wont be hard for PS4 to top it.

@BOOBOO3976 I know man, PS4 will be able to top the Wii U easily. But it won't be a beast like PS3 was. That would cost Sony too much money, and they have already lost a lot with the PS3, seeing as they have just started to pull profit as of 2010. And If you see the dev vids, there are already going to be a bunch of launch titles. Arkham City, Ghost Recon, Darksiders 2 ,Colonial Marines, Last Light. It will be way more powerful than PS3, but rest assured, PS4 should break around even with it.

As such, wii sales going down doesn't mean people don't like the wii, it means a lot of people already have one. if anything, its a good sign. 2. nintendo released a massive 3rd party line-up and developers are already speaking positive things about it. Look up wii u games line-up. 3. Gimmick=not successful, does not enhance gameplay. The wii was not a gimmick and the wii u will not be a gimmick.

Wii U it's a new console. The controller is that "tablet", but the console accept Wii controllers and acessories. The Wii U bring to Nintendo the hardcore games, like EA new games, Ninja Gaiden 3, Darksiders II, Batman Arkham City and more.

Ok, I'll be a bit more realistic. I finally listened to this shit and it's actually a new system which is yet to be revealed I'd assume (in terms of exact looks/specs) but if this shit is in the PS3 price range, good luck. It better be $249. Wiimotes are already too expensive, so these DSmotes better be 50. Otherwise a lot of grandmas are going to be broke this Christmas.

While I haven't seen specs for it, it sounds like it's just a controller and a screen. Probably just enough processing to decode video. Same basic idea as Onlive. The system does all the real work. What you see on the controller is just streamed video.

@stbays well it does have a touch screen, gyroscope, accelerometer etc. video streamer wouldn't really need all those. but i guess its not Nintendo if it doesn't have gimmicks.

Those are all just controller input options. In theory, the controller portion sends a signal to the system about what ever it is you're doing while playing, then the system streams a video back showing the results. The end result would be that the controller wouldn't really have to have any real processing power to still do some impressive stuff. The down side is the controller wouldn't do anything on it's own, which I find disappointing.

@stbays well as the guy said, it is a console not a handheld. controller working stand alone wouldnt make sense, if it did make sense it would be a hand held, much like 3ds/psp/vita and i still think your theory is a little flawed, due to processing video is a much simpler task, than say processing touch and acceleration changes and then correlating the changes to effect the gameplay, unless the wii U does all the calculations , but then the latency issue would arrise, but you have a point .

Without the controller specs, I can only make assumptions. I figure if Onlive works great over an internet, the controller should be capable of the same via the short distance the controller would be from the base.
I'm looking forward to finding out that information and the cost of the system itself.

@stbays as do i, more importantly i want to see the graphics capability in more detail. and its true, untill they release some solid info onthe specs we have to assume everything. onlive have a wide variety of ways they can manipulate data to have negligible latency. for Wii U they could imploy normal wireless technology like bluetooth or a simple ad-hoc , but see'ing as the controller displays in hi-def, the bandwidth issue arises...sry for going all anal on this subject. good luck.
