I was never a big fan of the 1994 Syndication version of the theme. I don't like the current theme either. Bring back the original version of the TPIR theme.
For the record, Kyle, the updated version of the TPIR theme song is a REMAKE -- NOT A REMIX!
However, it must be given due credit that it was apparently the intention of whoever was particularly involved from either the behalf of the musical director or (a group of people with at least a GRAIN of integrity from) FremantleMedia that the theme song should not deviate from the original.
They knew what was up, because if the theme changed TOO MUCH or AT ALL, TPIR would be... OVER!

TPIR should not use the 1994 song theme but a new song theme. Something similar to Deal or No Deal, 1 vs. 100, or anything that looks high tech. that theme reminded me of love connection and supermarket sweep.
Have you ever taken the time to REALLY gather the magnitude of how the original arrangement was, bassline, instrumentation and all?
The original TPIR theme is probably regarded by many as the greatest game show theme in the WORLD ever to be composed. It gives more people joy than even the winning contestants. It gives so many people fond memories of what TV and what life in general used to be like. Today's generation of TV AND music has drawn MAJOR BLANKS for people.
@DLCOrganization thank you!! the original theme is a work of art on it's own, most people can recognize that iconic tune than they can name actual game show hosts. This little mix doesnt even remotely compare
Oh, come on. This theme is EXCELLENT. And I'm not saying that just because I'm a fan of smooth jazz, also. I don't get anyone who doesn't like it. They must have some type of mental defect.
I do like this version of the theme song; however, I don't think they should use it on the daytime version. On the other hand, I do wish that they would use it on the nighttime specials. After all, almost all of the prize cues from the '94 syndie version made it on the CBS version of TPiR; why not use this theme somewhere?
I have to say I like the 1994 version better than the classic version of the theme song! I think they should replace the classic version with the newer one!
I agree. For many years I have told my friends IMO TPIR should go off of CBS when Bob retires because this version is TOO associated with Bob to successfully continue. Apparently, the show has lost almost 20% of its audience since Bob left and Drew has been inconsistant as MC. Also, if it had left CBS, TPIR should have been given at least a year or two off to retool before reattempting in syndication. This way the new MC would not have to compete with Bob's legacy.
It actually fits! This song, in my opinion, is better than the remixed bongo version used currently. But nothing compares to the 1972-2007 theme with Bob Barker.
Well, this theme keeps the basic melody (just more of a nightclub focus). It was composed by the same guy who wrote the original theme (Edd Kalehoff).
Edd Kalehoff told me over the phone that he wrote the TPIR theme in 1972, but that Robert Israel registered it under Sheila Cole's name. (He also told me that it was Mark Goodson who made the decision to give Kalehoff credit for the music "for Score Productions.")
Don't quote me on this, though; he may just have an axe to grind with Bob Israel.
A lot of early-mid 90s music was made to sound like it was played in a nightclub.
Lots of emphasis of the saxophone, especially.
Doesn't fit with the daytime show, but during the primetime "Million Dollar Spectacular", maybe.
As far as Adam Sandler goes, that goes back to Happy Gilmore.
Bob Barker had Sandler's name put in the credits as a "gift" to Adam because Sandler is a huge Barker fan, and they became friends while filming the movie.
Nothing beats the original theme to Price is Right. NOTHING. The new theme sucks, and the 94 theme isn't that much better. The original theme is The Price is Right. Period.
Actually, think about it...they had to remix the theme for stereo and HD. I've always thought the '94 theme should be used when a new host was chosen, and it sounds great over the credits (BTW: the 94 theme was used with Bruce Forsythe's version in the UK).
Oh and by the way, did you notice the name of the person who was "editorial consultant." Would that be THE Adam Sandler??
I just love hearing Drew halfheartedly mumble off the prizes that people bid on. "You bid on a car, and some other stuff." Oh, and the watered down TPiR theme they are using sucks, they should go back to the original. TPiR is almost unwatchable now, and that's saying a lot from someone who's watched it for 30 years.
To mee personally, I love the jazzier theme of TPiR 1994 for TPiR 2007. Drew is the perfect fit fot that theme. But as for John Lewis Parker aka John Lewis Porker who ruining FF's Theme. F**K U!
Why do you have to disagree? The 1994 jazz theme and speed-up version of 'PRICE IS RIGHT' & 'FAMILY FEUD', sound cooler and more fun, than the originals. Plus... when they remixed the FAMILY FEUD theme, by Score Productions... the speed-up theme sounded good and just like the FEUD! BTW- John Lewis Parker, f**ked up the theme. Same thing with DOUBLE DARE. When DD2k was on... the obstacle course theme, wasn't like the one, Edd K. did!!
B/c the jazzy theme of this and the speed-up version of jazzy FAMILY FEUD was better. BTW, don't give my a bad score. either I get a "+", or I'm sedning you a bad response!

Juvenile, my ass. Just shut the hell up and like i said, the remixed theme of TPIR & FAMILY FEUD, sounds better and I can jam to. BTW- I'm going to be 30 in 3 1/2 years, loser!
Okay, whom ever gave my -2, on my comments here... shut the hell up, okay? I want to hear the jazz theme of TPIR & Family Feud, again. Give me some "+", damn it!
Thank you for bringing to life what I had only imagined in my head since I first saw Doug Davidson's TPIR the mid-1990's. Now, I do love TPIR's original theme & music cues from the '70s. But I love Edd Kalehoff's 1994 jazzy hip-hop-styled remake so much better. I always felt Bob & the producers should have replaced the theme, "come-on-down", & "first four contestants" music with all of Edd's 1994 respective versions at the time. IMO, they definitely fit in with any emcee & the new set.
BTW: I also think the producers should have used Edd's 1994 jazzy hip-hop-styled remake of the Family Feud theme and music cues on the Richard Karn and John O'Hurley's versions of the Feud. John Lewis Parker's music has never done it for me.
Damn straight! Edd did a good job, with the 1994 jazz hip-hop theme of FAMILY FEUD. Would've been cool, if that was on today's version of FEUD? The theme, opening theme and music cues, as well? Plus... how can I mak ethe slow version of the 1994 feud, sound like the one they did, on the show? Speed-up version.
Interesting fact: When you win, you are brought to the administration office and asked if you actually want to claim the prize! Many contestants actually decline because the show will not pay for the TAXES! A Canadian couple explained they had to decline the prize on a $20k vacation prize because they couldn't afford to pay the tax. Hmmmm....pretty fucking sneaky.
Let me get this straight... The Original Price Is Right theme, is remixed with the 1994 Price Is Right theme, on the Drew Carey version today and is he still hosting it today? I heard he was fired.
I need to apologize for the double-post of sorts. I wasn't sure if my first comment went through, so I posted another one along the same lines. Again, sorry about that.
How did you get the old-school style chyron credits in there? These days, they just cut to the Fremantle logo after a minute or two and then show the credits interspersed with ads for one of CBS' crappy shows.
Sorry for the rant, but either way, VERY NICE! 5 stars!
Wait...are they using a credit crawl again, or did you add that yourself??? I haven't seen use a credit crawl in ages, which is why I ask (and I've been watching Drew's version almost everyday). Either way, VERY NICE!!! I don't think the '94 theme fits the Carey era, but it's still a cool theme nonetheless. I like the remix they have now & I personally think it fits better; just my opinion.
I think they should use that theme music for season 37 and I think Drew needs to get rid of that wireless mic and keep up with the times. I wonder if that was used for Marso Antonio Regil's version of "Antinale al Precio"
Wowsers...that strangely actually fits with the current version of the show.
