  • Our band is better. Were playing this song in band and we got it down great! We are gonna play this song for a contest with 2 other songs. Im not saying your band isnt good. Its just kinda fast and loud at the slow and soft parts.

  • @MrBagelmon You fail to realize things such as tempo (fast and slow) and dynamics (loud and soft) are up to the band director, so don't criticize the band, talk to the director, it is up to him how he interprets the music. And stop going around bragging about how great your band is, band people are supposed to be the cool people, that's talk I would expect from a football player, not a musician

  • @chaniejbernard

I know and I might be mistaking. The room your playing in looks so big the music might echo to make the sound louder, and once I posted that comment I was actually thinking, wait, if the band director has the song sound like that, then thats fine.

  • @MrBagelmon It is very big for a band to be playing in and yes, the Director wanted it to sound like that.

  • @chaniejbernard

Ok. Its just Im used to playing it a bit softer in the beginning so it got me to think it really had to be soft.

  • @MrBagelmon Our director was always about a 'full' sound. He said if a band has a full sound it should be shown off which is what we did at the beginning, he also doesnt like to play soft, he finds it sounds too wimpy, he likes 'full', so we play full.

  • my band is doing this piece. by a stroke of misfor- i mean good luck, I'M first horn this year. groan. this piece is NOT easy.

  • @scorpin969 I wish you the best of luck!

  • @chaniejbernard thank you.

  • @scorpin969 anytime, friend

  • It sounded good but in a lot of places i heard wa's, or waves which means your sections aren't blending either with the same instrument or other ones. Also some high notes in the trumpets sounded pinched! But I loved hearing it (: We played this for the all county band when I was in 7th grade. Great job!!

  • I play bari sax and i got a solo for that part. :D

  • Overall very good, As this is a difficult song, but I have two words for you: Arsis and Thesis. Never brethe before a Thesis note or Beat one or 3, and Arsis notes lead into Thesis notes. Therefore, breathing on a Bar line should never happen. I could hear the breath on the first bar line. I'm a Middle schooler playing this, and we are having some of the same problems but Understanding Arsis and Thesis Will Fix alot of them.

  • @Horsesletmefly This piece is only level three.... Look up symphonic dance no.3 fiesta. Thats what im playing

  • who in the clarinet section keep squeaking? Someone need a new reed.

  • that was prolly Jamal, he is the really big black guy playing clarinet...he stopped playing for like 2 years then joined band again, but he was playing bass clarinet before so it was hard for him to even get a sound on the clarinet so show him a little forgivness please

  • @theonlysin Maybe it's just new? :P

  • we are playing this, this year for contest i think..but where the brass has the solo the tbones were way to soft..for that spot..

  • good luck and actually the trombones are the percfect volume, they blend very well with me and the tubas and the baritones

  • oh, my band is playing this too, but we are in middle school.

  • i hope yall do good and have as much fun as I did good luck

  • damn i miss freshman year
