@kherelangelo1 Flash your galaxy with Odin. Check out my other videos on how to do this. Its much easier and safer than Kies as Kies is shit!

@CS2oooFFA I have to agree with you there man. I haven't yet been able to successfully update an S2 with Kies. I always update my friends S2 with Odin or flash a custom rom on it.

@puggereduk i need to find out how to do it, mine os is 2.3.4 and it consumes A LOOOOOOOOOOT of battery... i can keep my phone running up to 12-13 hours not longer ;/ my mate from work told me that 2.3.6 is really economical on battery, whats your opinnion?

@CS2oooFFA My personal opinion at this minute is CyanogenMod (nightly build #180) for me this is the most stable rom since Froyo JPY! The battery life is amazing and the rom is rock solid and smooth.

@jimboali press and hold Vol down - Home then when both are held together press the power button. If your 3 button combination isnt working then you will need to buy a jig and then flash new boot loaders

@puggereduk . i do this 3 no combo when , it shows "preparation for firmware upgrade-downloading upgrade components" the download screen does come. the device is disconnected from kies and then and tries to reconnect, but is not successfull. i get a msg to reboot my device.

i do the 3 no combo again this time after it has downloaded the firmware components, this time when its preparing for firmware upgrade-the download screen comes- the device disconnects and doesnt reconnects,nthn downloads!!

@jimboali With Kies you offer the phone as normal i.e. up and running then Kies will take over and should (in theory) do the rest i.e download the firmware then Kies will put your phone in to download mode and continue the installation. Kies is very unreliable so I would look in to using Odin and flashing your phone that way :)

hey guys, i am having troubles making the upgrade. after the initial download of firmware tools , it gets stuck at "preparation for firmware upgrade" preparing firmware upgrade components..nothing happens after that. it gets stuck there for like over half an hour. i dunno how to proceed after that, plz advice anyone

@lineven27 perform a factory data reset then format your internal sd card. Once done then offer it to kies again. This should help :)

@puggereduk yup i put it on download mode then connect via usb then the odin will detect the port and after putting the file in PDA and pressing start it fails on upgrading my phone

Odin should work. When you plug your phone in to odin does the com port turn yellow to recognise the phone? If so then I can't see any reason for it not to flash. Remember to unzip the zip folder once downloaded and make sure that you put the files in the correct order. If it's a single file folder then put the .tar file in the PDA box of Odin. If on the other hand there are 4 files then this is the order PDA= PDA, Modem= Phone, CSC + CSC Pit = PIT. Tick repartition then flash

Dude i got a problem.

I went to the service and they made the update to 2.3.3 for me but now the 2.3.4 was released.

I want to make it whit kies but after it downloads the content when the upgrade should start i see ''kies has stoped working fin an online solution to fix the problem bla bla.

And i can't understand why.

Im runing windows 7 32 bits.

Please gimme an answer.

Make sure that your pc has the latest version of ".Net Framework v4" which you can download from Microsoft. If you already have it then uninstall it and re install it to see if that helps.

When this video was made Gingerbread wasn't released! I don't run Samsung roms on my phone but instead I use CyanogenMod7 Nightlies :-)) The upgrade process for using Kies is identical for what ever rom your on ;-)

Hiya, Both roms are very good and it wouldn't be fair to compare them because they are 2 totally different roms. Darky's rom is basically an enhanced version of the stock samsung rom whereas CyanogenMod is more or less pure android. When choosing a rom it all boils down to personal preference. I ran Darky's rom for a long time then a few months ago I switched to CyanogenMod. I would recommend trying a few custom roms then decide which one you like better.

With regards to rooting your Gingerbread rom, its perfectly safe. Just make sure that your 3 button recovery/ download feature works on your phone and if it doesn't then you will need to install new boot loaders. I have a guide in my video list for rooting the phone. The process is the same for all versions of firmware i,e elcair, froyo and gingerbread!

Hi, Kies is shit so best to go to the XDA Developers site and paste this number in to the search box [1034145 ] and follow the instructions!

Yes you will loose everything. Its also worthwhile formatting the sd card as this will free it up a good bit plus it will be like a phone straight out of the box again

Yes. I would also recommend doing a factory reset before the upgrade too. By doing a factory data reset after an upgrade then your basically flushing out any old files left over from the previous rom.

A few things to now try is

1. Make sure you have the very latest version of kies

2. Update the drivers within kies

3. Try your USB cable in another port on your pc/ lap top

4. Try the update on another pc/ lap top

Kies is unpredictable at the best of times and not reliable. The other option you have is to flash the latest firmware with a tool called Odin. Check out my other vids as this shows you how to flash with Odin.

You shouldn't void your samsung warranty so long as you don't root it. Even if you do root it then it can easily be removed without a trace left :)

Have you done a factory data reset first? Also make sure that your phone is not in debugging mode and in USB settings make sure that the green dot is in the kies option.
